Well Apple aftersales were friendly and helpful and have arranged for a replacement to be sent... but the quoted shipping date is 8th March... here's hoping that will jump forward significantly!!

Just got an email saying that my replacement machine has been shipped. Very happy to note that its getting UPS treatment all the way from Shanghai, estimated delivery is Monday - now that's fast! I haven't got the new serial number yet - any idea what week machines are currently shipping, and how they are looking for yellow tinge?

My i5 shipped last night! Finally! Now I just have to hope it's a practically perfect unit. :)

Ordered: Feb 1
Shipped: Feb 19
Estimated Delivery: Feb 25
Shipped from Sacramento... I'm assuming that means it was manufactured there?
I can't find my serial number though. I see an order number and shipping number but no serial number. Where do I find this?

Great machine, you'll enjoy it immensely. The screen is amazing, very smooth on the eyes, I have much less eyestrain with this monitor than with my older 23" ACD. My crazy audio project which my Macbook pro could no longer run is not even taking 25% of the iMac's cores.

Hey thanks,
It's a week 7.

I just wanted to try the magic mouse for the install, this picture was taken hours ago as I was migrating my data (took 3 hours). I'm trying a few things with it today but so far I much prefer my Mx revolution!!!

Yeah I noticed the dead pixel, or maybe it's photoshop... I dont really care about my camera anyway ;)

Here is a picture of it running stuff (kinda dark, screen brightness messes up my camera flash):

Oh and yes, evidently my Nikon camera has some dead pixels.

I personally preferred the MX rev when I had my iMac (sent for exchange). I notice you have the USB Apple KB. Here's a tip (in case you haven't realized it already), plug the MX receiver into the USB port in the keyboard, then you get great reception and get to keep a port free on the iMac.

Also, I think that screens looks pretty good (no tinge). However, the pic is too small for me to tell.

Just finally got my Imac after 2 months and it is perfect!!! Been running it really hard for 24 hours and no sign of yellow or flickering...what was I worried about???

I hope mine doesn't has no problem at all. seeing so many of you getting perfect machines :)

Mine as been busy, since they didn't send it through the same path.

1st iMac - Shanghai > Korea > Poland > Germany > Portugal

2nd iMac - Shanghai > Hong Kong > Dubai > Germany > Portugal

Tomorrow i will give some news

BTW, i's a week 7 over here.

just TRIED to order mine.
but as im financing it they want me to ring up and apply for the finance, guess ill have to wait till tomorrow, im guessing they arent 24hours lol

So i got my 2nd replacement iMac i7 on friday ...

It's not perfect, but almost. No backlight problems, no dead pixels, but a slight tone change in the bottom is noticeable, but barely - you really have to think about it to see it. I do plug my Mx receiver in my keyboard! ;)

Ok, it's out for delivery (08h55am Portugal) it didn't stop mooving even on the weekend. :D

I sure hope that is a perfect Week 7 iMac. fingers crossed, and near to get a heart attack, can't stand the suspense!!!!

this day of work is going to be loooooooooooooooong!

:apple:

I've just received a replacement 27" quad (Week 8) and it's (almost) perfect. There is a very slight yellowing to the bottom of the screen but I probably wouldn't have noticed it if it wasn't a well known problem. It's acceptable to me as it's barely noticeable.

This is my third replacement and I've experienced all sorts of problems - finally I've got one that appears okay! For info, Apple let me keep my original iMac until I received the replacement. I just need to transfer all my files across now...

WOW No yellow issue

Hey guys, I just noticed something very interesting about the "yellow issue" at the bottom of the screen.

Just did the gray image test on my week 7 27 inch. At first, I thought I could see a slight yellow at the bottom - really pale.

I then lowered my eyes at the height of the bottom gray bar, and as I expected, it immediately went away. Reverified a few times, perfect gray.

Conclusion: There is no yellow issue on my mac, it's only a viewing angle optical illusion - blame it on an imperfect viewing angle or not.

Screen below.

well, that's some news.

So what now? Are i going to keep tilting our heads up and down just so we dont see the yellowing? strange when there are people which have a perfect screen. I'm about 4 hours to get to know the replacement of my first iMac.

Well, I've been trying to upload screens... Awful camera anyway, but even with the contrast at maximum in photoshop there is no yellow. Anyway, you have to see it in person, taking a photograph of a glossy screen is quite a challenge (it makes the white seem discolored from left to right but it's obviously not (perhaps it's the sunlight coming from the right), else I would have already returned it).

Screen Brightness a 100%

Screen Brightness at 50%

I'm seeing this photos with a crappy old monitor from work, but i don't see no tinge there, it looks perrfect :p

I know i shouldn't be saying this, but i can stand some very slightly almost unnoticible tinge rather then the buzz sound / high pitch noize. :D

Which week is your replacement?

it's a week 7 (1st was a week 4)

Should be the same then.
And it is dead quiet, even the fan has a soft flow, nothing high-pitched.

My MacBook Pro is kinda feeling left out at the moment, besides running logic nodes (which is not really necessary when you have a i7 beast) I'm not sure what I need it for at home... "Kitchen computer" ?

i'm dieing to get home!!!:D

Sorry in advance for the double post...

OK, I just got my Week 8 iMac (replacement 1). Very very bad. The screen has a tinge, as well as a vertical yellow tinge stripe, the faint dark bar at the bottom of 2cm up from the bottom of the screen, and to top it off, a HUGE dead pixel or speck of dust under the glass!

^that dot is the speck!!!
