All right, I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I'm not going to spend 200+ pages trying to find out.

I couldn't wait any longer to replace my ruined MacBook Pro, but was not going to plunk down $2600 on a 17" Core2Duo model. I just ordered a Core i7 27" iMac with other customizations. It still says ships 5-7 business days, but I sort of noticed other people getting theirs on this thread.

Is the 5-7 business days for shipping a misnomer on the Apple Store? Are these computers shipping regularly (or somewhat so) now? Or are the ones people getting just replacements.

Thanks for the heads up!

I ordered a new iMac i7 from the UK online store on Feb 19th with a 'ships in 2 weeks' quoted. It actually shipped 3 days later on the 22nd.

It appears we are in a similar boat. I grew tired of waiting on the core i5/7 17" MBP + the wife needed a monitor. There's also the issue that I sold my 17" 3.06Ghz C2D last week. I just decided to buy an iMac and get a 13" MBP once the new ones are released.

I ordered my iMac i7 on February 21st. It shipped today February 23rd and is scheduled to arrive March 2nd. I would imagine it will get to me before then according to others who received them earlier.

My i5 is in Lenexa, Kansas right now which is about 4 hours from where I live. It's scheduled for delivery on Thursday, but I'm wondering if it may end up getting here a day early... would sure be nice! :)

fyi - The iMac i5 and i7 are halted for 1 week for internal apple employee purchases. Pure Speculation: maybe they let the defect ones ship out to "normal" customers and then when the good ones arrive they start making them available to apple employees again. my friend of apple will look tomorrow again if they are available internally again.

so much for retail stores here, han? lolol

I ordered my i7 on the 17th and it was despatched on the 20th to the UK but I still don't have a tracking number for UPS. But on the apple site is says "In Transit to Customer"

Yes I have checked that too. It might be as I have ordered applecare and someone earlier said that the tracking number does not show up in that case.

I am hoping it will be here soon. But sods law it will turn up when I have to go to collect the kids from school.

That's a nice result and a great birthday present! Hopefully Friday is the day for me.

Yes, this is the case - you won't get a tracking number until the day before it's delivered, ie. the day it leaves the Apple warehouse with UPS, TNT or whoever does the carriage .... once you see the tracking number, expect delivery the following day!

UPDATE: machine unboxed, stand is scratched and screen has grey bar along the bottom - it's now boxed and ready to go back, how very soul destroying :(

Same boat here also, MBP died, waited 1 month for apple to get it fixed properly : they changed everything besides the monitor - one part at the time, like complete idiots (I told them I thought it was the motherboard the first day, but they insisted it was the HD, they then broke the keypad and trackpad while replacing the HD, then it didn't work, then they ordered the motherboard).

In the meanwhile I figured better have a second computer in case, got the i7, waited 1 month anyway - Haven't used my MBP since I received the iMac, such an amazing machine.

I ordered mine (27" i7) in December from the company we order all of our computer stuff from. At that time, they were available, but since I didnt order it in time, they "said" I would get it the first or second week of March. I would have had a 27" already, but it was the C2D, and for the 200 euro bump, I thought it was a wise choice to go with the i7. It sucks waiting too, especially when I all the stuff waiting for it (of course not the Apple TV, or both keyboards):

And how do you know you're getting a Week 9 machine?

Oh mate that is disappointing! Have you spoken to Apple? What's the procedure? And what week no. and no. Off the production line was it?

Am a bit worried now!

Mine's ordered on the 19th, Shipped yesterday, scheduled to arrive from Fedex the 2nd.

Will post an update.

EDIT: Can anyone recommend best way to sell my late 09 model 17" MBP? I don't have enough posts to sell here and I don't trust craigslist. I think eBay is my only options at the moment..

Tell me about it, disappointment central, I could've booed as I reboxed it!

I rang Apple, they were extremely apologetic, advised that the carrier will contact me within 72 hours to arrange collection and as soon as they have the goods back in their possession, a full refund will be made to my card, including the Applecare.

It was a week 8 custom build i7 with 8Gb RAM from Shanghai - W8008.....

Check out my post https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/9332143/ with pictures of the screen etc

Week 8 Looks amazing!!!

My week 5 had screen issues (not yellow tint) so Apple set up an exchange. Just received it minutes ago. It's week 8 and the screen looks amazing. No dead or stuck pixels and no discoloration issues. Actually much better than my week 5 in terms of color uniformity. This one's a keeper. :D

My i5 Week 6 is here! And I am happy to report that it is practically perfect! I didn't run the screen test, rather I set the desktop to solid white and gave it a good hard look... as far as I can tell it is great! There is an extremely faint chirping sound when I turn down the brightness, but I won't ever have it that dim, and if I did I doubt I would even really hear it. At first I thought I saw backlight bleed, but it was only due to the angle I was looking at it. No dead pixels or dust. I can post pictures if anyone cares. :)
