I am actually a little ticked off at the lack of a clear ship date from Apple. They supposedly have a superior manufacturing and logistics operation, yet can't seem to provide customers with a clue as to when to expect their orders to ship? If I buy a car, they don't tell me it will ship sometime in November.

This thread is really getting crazy with everyone speculating. If, worse case scenerio, you can't wait until the end of November, why don't you just buy a different Mac? If people are in such a rush to get the Quad because they "need it now," then maybe it would be better for them to pick up another computer. Apple estimates it will ship in November. It is now the 2nd business day in Novemeber and people are getting all upset that Apple hasn't shipped no updated the website.

The funniest thing is that people are trying to hear what they want to hear. You have some guy in Australia that says the online rep said it would ship November 8th. So everyone takes that as being the truth. Then you have a guy in Spain that says he was told it was the 6th, so everyone starts believing that. Then you have a guy in Scotland and America told November 3rd for sure, so everyone agrees that must be true but completely ignore all the contradictory dates that were given previously or all the people told that Apple really doesn't have a date set yet since they aren't ready. Obviously we all want the new Quad, myself included, but all this speculation based on no real evidence is just crazy. Every time an earlier date is noted, everyone starts getting excited as if it is true. Once Apple confirms the date, we will know for sure. We should just wait until we get an email notification or the website is updated.

I made up the dates and location above to make a point as I didn't feel like reading the previous posts to get the exact dates given or their location.

I feel this tread is good. It's nice to know your not the only one waiting. It's ok to wait. The problem is if it gets obsesive. I feel a bit like a clown waiting, but its fine for me. :)

THEY may, but their suppliers may not.

There's a lot involved in building a machine... it's not easy

Now.... where the hell is my computer? :)

"Bore off" is nice... in the UK we say "Sod off " ;)

This is a mac rumors site, therefore this is pretty much only only place on the internet this thread should exist...

I personally dont think ANY of the customer reps know what date its shipping - these people generally are the last people to find out anything.

So, expect shipping on the last day of November. In the meantime, the new Call of Duty is out soon - should help you kill some time...

For anyone buying in the UK did the price of the stock quad core go down to £1598.99, This happened at around 10AM this morning, it's back at it's £1599 price point now, thought that was strange.

Actually, when we bought our car a few years back, that is exactly what they said. I put down a deposit, and I was told that it would be built in shipped a couple months later. Nothing more concrete until it was actually built.

And, despite what most of us think, we haven't bought our iMac's yet. We've ordered them, but we've only promised to buy. And they've only promised to make available. Technically.

Cars have a lot more "outside suppliers" parts than does the iMac. Apple has the manufacturing of the iMac down pat.

My credit card was charged for the difference in what Apple is giving me to replace my current iMac, and the upcharge for the i7. Since my credit card was billed - that means I paid for and own it. IMO

Has everyone's credit cards gotten billed?

I've never heard anyone say that Apple has a "superior" logistics operation. The large computer company known for their logistics is Dell. Apple is known for their software engineering and hardware design.

Could not agree more... People just love to complain.

I think this thread is fun. Part of the experience of getting a new iMac. Anticipation is fun.

Just go an email from Apple. The subject title was 'Thanks for purchasing your iMac.' My heart was pounding as I opened it. It was just an ad to buy more equipment. Not a hint of any update about shipping. Oh well, back to work .....

Relax, no need to get your panties all tied up. There has been no new info provided so far in the thread regarding when the computers will actually ship; it is all based off of speculation, anecdotal evidence, or hearsay. What would be useful is if someone gets a confirmation email from Apple regarding the shipping date, or someone notices that Apple has updated the website. I was just saying there is a lot of posting with no real useful information and people are getting all upset that the computers haven't shipped yet because it is already November and we were told by some customer service rep in Spain (or wherever) that they should ship Nov. 3rd. Give me a break.

Is the 4850 Card Dekstop or Mobile part

Has anyone been able to confirm this?

Has anyone been able to confirm this?

Yeah we won't know until it ships for sure. Some people argue it is the mobile, others that it is something in between the mobile and desktop version. Won't know for sure until it ships and someone opens it up.

Since none have shipped no one knows yet, but all signs are pointing to mobile.

So I contacted the Apple customer service person on the chat just now to see what they had to say. She had to take a moment to ask regarding the question and came back telling me that the "iMac quad core has a desktop version graphics card." I asked her if it was anywhere on the website I might have missed and she said "We do not have that information listed for the public to view." I would take this as a grain of sand as someone else might ask another person and get a completely different answer. We won't know for sure until they are shipped and someone opens it up. Would be real nice if they could fit a desktop version in there and cool it off enough.

My speculation is that it is the desktop version. Because if i can remember right the previous imac at the options said ati "mobility" radeon 4850...........
It just hit me i haven;t given a lot of thought and time but........!

I would be impressed

That first person receiving an i5 or i7 and posting unboxing photos will be a GOD for a few days. The power of it! Hail Zeus!

Just ordered mine.

Well I have just ordered the stock 2.66 quad, the only addition I made was Apple Care.
The sales rep I spoke to went to check with her service manager for the ship date and both were sure it would be by 'mid' November.
Im not holding my breath, but hey if they ship in the next two weeks I will be happy!
