Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

You CANNOT order BTO computers at the store to have them shipped. You must place the order online. I don't how that affects your friend's ability to get you a discount, but you cannot place orders at a store.

Yeah, thats how I understood it as well. Probably for the better anyway, I wouldve spent more in gas to get to the store she works at than it will cost me without her discount! :D

Looks like I got me some BTOing to do!

Hey, has anyone thought about backups for their new iMacs? I mean a 1tb drive is big, 2tb is huge. I only have 2tb in my Drobo that I currently back up my MBP to... I dont want to upgrade this Drobo too! Damnit, I just now thought about that... Im going to have to upgrade this Drobo! IT NEVER ENDS!

Interesting. I hope thats changed. Side note, I wonder how much more a friends and family discount is than an education discount?

an on-going 10% discount on anything in the store
* a once-per-year 25% discount on a complete system
* three discounts for friends and family per year of 15% off a complete system
* deals on product models Apple is discontinuing prior to new product introductions, and overstocked items before the end of each quarter
* occasional employee discounts or rebates on third-part products

Yeah 15% is what I was told. The Ed discount has my system at 100 off plus discounts for the BTO options...

So someone with math skills can chime in here with the specific % if you want, but I thinks the FF discount would be the better one.

and so. I just phoned apple on my 27'' i7 iMac and they still don't have the expected shipping date :( at least she told me it will be by November :)

My Apple Store had MBP "super" models( I believe that is what they called it) where they had the 2.6 Ghz C2D instead of the 2.5 Ghz C2D that was stock with the 17" MBP Pre-Unibody.

Maybe Apple Stores will do something similar with the iMac i7.
 
iMac 27" Arrival

Giday there mr and mrs Mac's, yeah finally ordered one of those beasts around 2 weeks ago. iMac 27" 1TB - 8GB Ram - i7 Quad. Rang Apple today to confirm delivery as order status says, 'Not Shipped Yet' I was told by one of the Apple Seeds that I will be receiving early December in OzLand because of the i7 Quad Core.
I've been designing for 12 years on a windows machine and this is my first MAC - Adobe on a Mac, you can't beat that!, Awesome...! :cool:

Definitely - you're getting, from that sheet, 10% off the RAM, so 15% off (let alone 25%...) would be much better. That's almost bribery worthy, 25% off even a non-BTO 8 core Pro would be over $1000 after the monitor!

Doh :eek: I didn't even order mine that far ago, so it'll be an Xmas present I suppose..

Seriously now people why would Apple choose to include a part (4850) in a brand new computer that simply isn't available? It's not like they've run out, there just weren't any from day 0.

I realise the launch timing might have been related to Windows, but I can't help thinking that they must have negotiated a killer deal from AMD.

The 25% isnt an option for me, that is a once a year deal which she already used, so she said it would be the 15%. Ill have to find out if the stores are going to carry the i7s.
 
The worst thing is I looked at my bank account today and the 2500.00 dollars is back in there I guess the authorization hold fell off. I don't like having the money in my available balance. I wish Apple would have just taken it.

Thanks for the tip. I called and received the upgrade in shipping as well. The rep offerred and without even me asking. :D
