Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

man...what was it like in here with you guys waiting for the first-generation iPhone? :D

But seriously, I cannot wait for the i7. I'm like a little kid marking the days 'till christmas and I can't sleep. Using this work laptop for design-work is killing me. I want an i7 iMac so I can stop itching and tweaking and start acting normal again. Plus friends can stop hearing me bring up how its gonna change my life. I know I'm fooling myself. I said the same thing waiting for the iPhone.

Don't know about you, but the iPhone DID change my life. And the lives of several other million people who are actually using its full capabilities.

Ha! I had to do the same thing. I had bought a 24" 3 days before the 27" came out. Fortunately I talked with the manager before I bought and he agreed to waive the restock fee if anything new came out in 14 days.

When I returned the 24, they were about to put the money back in my account...and I thought the same way Nooooo!! Please give me a gift card!

I cant tell you how hard it is to walk by the Apple store with a $2k gift card in pocket and not just run in and by the C2D they have in stock!
 
Tip for anyone who ordered expedited shipping -- just call and ask if they are offering any "shipping upgrades". I was credited the $33 dollars I was charged originally for 2-3 day shipping.

Can't complain about that. :)
 
upgraded shipping

so i talked to the 'right' rep this time, asked if they were offering any upgades because I have not had any communication on why the product hasn't shipped. I got upgraded to expedited shipping for free. That helps ease the pain. I also asked what the hold up was and she said it could be because of the magic mouse and wireless keyboard. hmm I don't buy it. But I am a bit happier now!:)

Lol, I just did the same thing. Got my free upgraded shipping! Feel kinda bad, but oh well.
 
Just upgraded my order to include the wireless canon printer. I placed my order for the 27" i7 iMac on 10/20 along with the new remote. I've already received the new remote.

I ask Troy (Apple Sales Rep) when upgrading my order to include the printer to get the $100.00 off would this have any impact on when I'll receive my iMac. He stated no. He also stated that the iMac is in serious demand and has no actual ship date but doesn't think it will ship until the middle of the month. Which seems to be the norm answer everyone is getting.

So latest update on shipping info is the same ... there isn't any update. :(
 
Two different resellers I have checked with both told me the same thing now, first they cannot even place orders for these machines yet, and they were told late in month to early December before they could.

Word from my local Apple Store as of 2 minutes ago is Apple has told them that the quad-core iMacs will start shipping tomorrow, November 3rd. This seems to be consistent with what a number of retailers are showing, including Best Buy, as well as what others have reported on here.

Something has to be going down tomorrow.

Q.. For those that have been getting the free upgrade to 2-3 day in shipping when calling in, did you place the order awhile ago? Like around the 20th of Oct?

Because I was wondering if I place an order now, could I call in the next day to get the 2-3 day? Or do you think I should wait for awhile before calling in?

Yea, I would wait a week or two at least. I ordered on the 20th and just called them yesterday.
 
The "late Nov." shipping info, which actually appears to have some substance behind it, actually helps me to relax a bit. It's good to know something.

I ordered mine Oct 26 at 9AM EST. So I am not sure about your case, worth a try, but what is a few days if you haven't ordered it yet, it looks like December for all the newest orders...

Yeah, but who told you next week max? Which source is more credible?

For me, this is the fun of a rumor thread like this. I get to hang out with people who want their new machines just as much as I do, and quibble over things that none of us really have a clear picture of.
