Update!!!! Just called Apple. Valerie (Apple Sales Rep, Shipping Rep) indicated that my iMac that I ordered on 10/20 is BACKORDERED.

This is new. She did say this it was automatically set up to ship expedited and coming from overseas. It will take 2-3 business days after the order is filled.

Apparently the automated attendant on the phone is incorrect, stating that the order is prepared for shipment. Its not its backordered.

I understand the whole... you knew it was going to be a November ship deal. But I was hoping that Apple would have had a better idea by now as to when in November since.... we are in November things should be a bit more clear.

I think we are all up in arms about this with excitement because its an excellent iMac, and it cost us a bunch to order it.

A bit more notice on delays or ship delivery info would be curtious on the part of Apple. I don't think thats asking much.

I feel your pain...just hang in there. Good things come to those who wait. :)

I myself chose to wait a little further...picking my i7 in mid-January.

just got an email from apple:
"Take a closer look at the new iMac"
all i can think is, "I'd LOVE to.... if only i HAD one. but oh wait, YOU won't send it to me yet.":(
thanks for rubbing it in, apple.

hopefully the imac ship date changes to Nov 20th also!

If Apple doesn't yet know what the ship date is, how is it supposed to be "courteous" and update us?

One thing I forgot to mention earlier. The rep that expedited my shipping told me that Apple is considering overnight shipping on all i5 and i7 orders just to make the customer base happy.

Probably she if full of it but that would be nice!

Can everyone just be patient and chill out? I ordered one too but complaining all day isn't going to help speed the process.
Are you sure? We need to keep trying. Maybe something will happen hehe

A lot of you guys went for the i7s. I ordered the i5. Now I am recontemplating :-S. Im getting tired of the lagginess of my 2.4 ghz iMac...will i notice a diff between the i5 and the i7?
not really, unless you use applications that take advantage of multi-threading. The biggest difference between the i5 and i7 (specifically the ones in the iMac) is that the i7 supports hyper-threading while the i5 does not. (you can look at this )

Of course 11/26 is Thanksgiving Day... I don't think anything will be happening that week.
yeah... that was my exact thoughts

I'm looking at picking up a base-level i5 once they hit retail stores. At this pace... I might not be picking mine up until you do :-(

btw: this thread is started to make me consider getting an i7 haha. I just hate having to work from home just to sign for the darn thing. Oh well, we'll see.

I'm confused, how would overnight shipping be possible to some areas of the world? I could be wrong but it seems logistically impossible. Flight times alone from Hong Kong to Atlanta or Miami would be 18-24 hours. Depending on how long the package sorting done in Anchorage or whatever shipping hub the delivery service uses, it could take even more time. Then the packages would have to be sorted again at a local distribution center, etc. Maybe I'm just too tired to get my head around the the International Date Line.

Since people are talking a lot about free expedited shipping and such, this isn't something new that Apple is doing for the i5s and i7s... basically, Apple will almost always upgrade you to free expedited shipping if you make an inquiry about your order for ANY reason. This has happened to me three times now.

I just spoke with my CDW rep for the Company i work for she sent this

"I finally got an answer on this. Here’s the response from Apple specialist:

The 21.5” units are mostly in stock. The 27” iMacs, especially the high end models, are quite constrained through mid- to late November.

Yes, you are confused. Isn't 24 hours overnight?

My MBP was overnighted from China and I live on the east coast.

When i called apple they told me that when it arrives at there base that' when expedited shipment applies. It does not apply to the amount of days it takes to arrive into CA from China.

That is true only for non CTO/BTO orders. CTO orders are drop shipped from the factory to the recipient directly. Basically the difference between expedited shipping and standard shipping for CTO orders is the difference between Fedex International Priority and Fedex International Economy. Generally the priority orders arrive within 2-3 days from shipping. Fedex International Economy can take up to 5 business days.

For non-CTO orders (i.e. the stock i5s), expedited shipping means next-day from Apple's distribution center/warehouse to your house.

You may be seeing it sooner than you think. Now ure when you placed the order but I ordered my remote and iMac on the 20th. I originally had a ship date of the 18th for the remote, and then ended up getting it on this past Monday. :)

Also got to add a +1 for calling customer support and getting a free shipping upgrade. I ordered my i7 iMac on the 27th and just got off the phone with customer support. The person on the other end didn't have a definite date, so I asked her if it would possible to upgrade my shipping so I could be sure that it got to me as soon as possible--she upgraded me for free.
