Just checked my mail and found out i got a e-mail on november 4 saying "tell us how you like your new mac." I thought I would tell you if You send it to me. The wait is too long

Just off the phone to "Sean" at the apple customer care. He told me that due to the fact that the quad core iMacs are still in production, they can only put an estimate at shipping at the end of November, saying also that no money will be taken from my account until the items are ready for dispatch.

He also refused to offer me any form of expedited delivery - saying that no such service was available to me, wether I was going to pay for it or not.

Conclusions there - Mixed messages being put out across the board, but a recurring theme of end of November as an Estimate seems to be appearing.

Perhaps being from Scotland is the reason for not offering expedited shipping, or perhaps they are becoming wise to the attempts to get a free upgrade.

Oh well, looks like it's gonna be a loooong Autumn wait for this computer.

Theres only one standard shipping method for the UK. The faster shipping methods apply to customers in Canada and the States.

The wait is too long

I'm confused by your statement. Apple said that it would be released in November. We're only a couple of days into November and still have the entire month to go. Waiting is a personal choice, and Apple has always been honest in how long that potential wait could be.

If Apple said November, and it was December right now, then all of these comments would be justified. Until then, these comments are totally unfounded and downright ridiculous.

Did anyone else get an email from Apple "Thanks for purchasing your Mac" offering a free workshop??

Yes, I got one. I was so disappointed when I opened it and there was no news of my iMac shipping date.

I just called Apple and the rep told me everyone should see a shipping date by the end of next week. But could not tell me what the shipping date would be. He told me there had been such a high volume of orders Apple was unable to keep up with updating information on the online order forms.
It sounded like he was reading from a script.

I really don't mind the wait, it is just a matter of planning my work. I have a video project that I really need the new iMac for, but I can put off for two weeks and work on other projects. Otherwise I will have to start now and let my old computer choke and sputter through the project.

I just called AMEX and I was also charged yesterday (November 5th). This charge was not a hold but a true authorization.

Still says November on my Apple Status Page.

I was one of the first orders (BTO/8GB/2TB) on October 20th.

Ordered Core i7 model on 22nd Oct, I just noticed that I can no longer cancel my order in Apple Online Store

When clicking it it said I cannot cancel this order online...while I could cancel it a few days ago

My credit card transaction doesn't show the sum of iMac yet...but let's hope it will be shipped soon

So I ordered the i7 with the 2TB hard drive option an hour ago...
Says the iMac is shipping in November and the remote I ordered says "ships Nov 23" and "delivers Dec 1"

Damns! I ordered mine on Oct 28th, made a change on Nov2 for the KB on the iMac. My remote has always been shipping Nov 27th.

Couldn't they tease me with sending my remote early

All of you guys who paid with your credit card can hope dor the best! in its policy Apple clearly state: "Apple will not bill your credit card or process a transaction under your debit or check card until your order ships." Hope great news today!! In my case I paid by wire transfer as I dont have a credit card. My order status shows "prepaid" and cant know if my order is ready for shipment or else! I'm optimistic.. No choice :)

I ordered mine Oct 23rd and can still cancel as of this morning... I hope the chain is not too long...:D

Finaly the truth - production problems - best case early dec

...just got from the phone with the european apple store call center:

I called them because my i7 order showed "Item canceled" without myself doing anything and I called them because I was afraid my Oct 20 order will be rearranged to the end of the order line.

She then said (without myself asking for a delivery info) that my order was canceled and reorganised (so still valid) because the logistic and production department gave them urgent information that due to production problems there will be no early shipping and ALL orders are rearranged !!!

Best case is that I will get it in early december and that the are able to get the first iMac from the production line on the very last day of november - but they are still not sure about that !!!

So all my dreams getting it early just vaporized....

I also asked if this is only valid for austria and she said that this is a common issue for all of the faster imacs...

Wtf!

SAME PROBLEM HERE!
iMac i7 Order Cancelled by Apple!

I will post a picture in 2min.

I'll call Apple Support too to understand why this happened! I paid by Wire...

iMac 27" i7 order cancelled by Apple!

Check this out!

EDIT: Ordered from Apple Switzerland...

I ordered mine (i7, 8G RAM, 2T HD) yesterday (the 4th of November); so far, the order says 'shipping November' and no charges have hit my credit card.

I wouldnt worry about your order being cancelled, parts of my order was changed twice and twice my card was also pre-authorised twice.

I would only worry if you got a new order number, otherwise this is only an amendment not a cancelled order.

Although we are still in the time frame given by apple, I do think if they are going to amend customer orders or keep pre-authorising payments that they inform the customer at the time.

I was today told by a rep at apple that orders are being made in batches for example.. 50 units for the USA... then 50 Units UK... this maybe for shipping or utter rubbish but just adds to the confusion..

I still can not believe that Apple still have delays on the Magic Mouse and Apple Remote...

I suddenly have a cancelled 27" in my order as well as one on order.

Odd. Sucks if the December date is the one...

The day after I ordered, Apple charged my card for Applecare and placed a pending charge of $2 USD. The pending 2-dollars disappeared from my account the next day. Now, today, My card has been authorized for the entire purchase amount for the i5 ordered on October 23. I did receive an e-mail from Apple today. My heart skipped a few beats--it was only an advertisement: "Accessories For Your New iMac." My shipping date still says just November. What does it all mean? :D

Yes, another day of fantastic rumors and predictions..... There is a bright side to the delay. We all may get the next upgrade in the Spring of 2010....

So, I reiterate my prediction..... It will ship when it ships...... and that day is not this week.....

I'm also seeing a 'cancelled' iMac in my order. There's another iMac replacing it in the 'active' section of the order though.

I noticed this morning that the wording changed to 'Estimated Shipping: November', and now it's back to 'Shipping: November'.

Something is definitely up. It doesn't look good either.

Although my "cancel item" button was not working earlier... it worked ok for apple!!

I had my 27" i7 also cancelled and re-ordered, I was advised this was for logistic reasons and would have it before the end of the month...

FWIW, MasterCard says Apple charged $1 on 11/3, then on 11/5 at 7:03 pm charged the full amount (~$2,700) for the iMac. The charge does not yet show online, but is pending.

I ordered on 10/20 at 9:53 am PST.
