I'm in Seattle. I ordered my i7 on Oct. 20. My order# starts with W6534. It has not shipped.

I literally just ordered by i7 about 30 minutes ago, and my order starts with W656.

Mychal

This doode above is from seatle aswell iono why your code is different.

My father ordered the 27" in a BTO setup with 8gb of ram and a 1tb hdd on launch day in the UK and had the same 'November' shipping quote. He rang apple today to check the status, and then ended up cancelling his order. They told him they Hoped to ship by the 27th of DECEMBER so possibly an early JAN delivery at the earliest. That was only a good estimate by the sound of it and no reason was given. Sorry to dash everones hopes, but you're in for a longer wait than you might like for you're new imac's methinks!

I can go with a lack of stock and a high uptake of the new imac, and what with the recent flash performance problems apple possibly holding back on delivery to investigate, but at least tell you're customers the truth about how long the order will take apple, come on, thats basic customer service. I thought you where meant to be good at that??:

That means: Don't order BTO products! :D

btw: Flash issues can be solved with new update..

This is the first I've ever heard of such a late ship date. Seems like the CS rep doesn't know what they're talking about.

I have a hard time believing that Apple would miss it's ship date by over a month :)

First of all, I very much doubt it ! I also phoned customer support UK and she said late November meaning anytime after 20 November and for sure before December.

If they do not ship November, I will ask for a discount or I will simply cancel my order. I need this iMac for work, for the moment I am using a PC and it is killing me.

Well, I ordered an i7 on the 26th. There was a pending transaction for the computer last Friday and today it disappeared and the money is back in my account. I think this happened to other people? Sucks, I thought it would ship soon.

I agree, I phoned today to query about the random cancellation over the weekend. That was sorted out as a glitch and not to worry about it. He also gave an expected DELIVERY date of Nov 27th latest. He said they would be shipping in the next week or so, which seems consistent with recent news here today.

For reference I made my order on October 23rd, 8.01am. 2Tb Hard drive also added.

Hopefully they will ship out soon. My reference number begins W9 also. Im inclined to believe this is a European ID - I stay in West Coast of Scotland.

Kinda hope it's soon though, I have some robot programming to do for Uni and the added screen space will speed things up no end!!

iMac refresh

I just spoke to my Apple rep here in London. He advised I wait before placing my order as the current 21.5" and 27" iMacs were launched so long ago, the revised models will be out soon. Look for 23" and 30", and core i9 processors.

Seriously though....

The MacRumors Buyer's Guide (shouldn't that be Buyers' Guide?) states that the average days between updates is 221 days and it has been 20 days since the last update. I know that there are plenty of the new iMacs in happy homes, but it is sad that for those of us who ordered core i5 or i7, nearly 10% of the "ooo, I've got the newest iMac" period is already over. And for those of us in Yurp, there is a while to wait yet.

Is that really a huge issue though? You get 'em to use them, not to brag about them. That's a really, really, really small issue IMHO.

Supposedly the guy told my dad that they had hoped to ship by 27th nov but could not promise anything and hoped to get delivery before christmas, although 27th dec was another quoted date. In other words I don't even think apple know when these things will be shipping! I think that makes it worse that all these customers are left in the dark about what on earth is actually going on.

Edit:- Apart from getting quoted in the apple support pages regarding the same topic, there has been a post on there of a similar line, and I quote.
"Finally from the latest update i was told by Apple customer service that it will be likely to be shipped end of Nov for uk, i went to apple store and one of their guys said that the Quad core macs are more likely to ship Dec, based on their internal memo, so we are no further forward."

Here is the apple support thread link

It's not important to have the newest Mac, it's important to have one!
If you wait for better products, you could wait till you die..
There will be anytime better products. :)

I ordered mine on the 20th as well and mine order starts with W6 too. This is getting frustrating. I'm almost tempted to buy an i7 PC from Best Buy.

BTW nice photography work. I'm a novice and use a Nikon D90. Wish I had the time to become a serious photographer. Interestingly enough I'm a Network Admin on Windows platform.

I'm currently working on very big high resolution images..
3500x2500px at 300dpi for example.

Working on 15" 16:9 display sucks hard..

That was high res... like in the 90s! Today, Regular Joes shoot 5616 x 3744 pixels (Canon 5D mk ii file size). Sorry, just giving you a hard time cause I'm bored.

Yeah, I literally just got off the phone like 20min ago. I just asked for my "order status" and asked if there was any expected shipping date because I had ordered it awhile ago and haven't heard any updates... bla bla bla...

She said all she could say is that it still says "november" for my ship date, but that she could expedite the shipping process for me... put on hold for a minute or so, then got 2-day shipping (she said 1-day shipping wasn't available to my area or something). Pretty sweet! Good luck...

Long-time lurker of this thread now chiming in... I just called and got the 2-day shipping. The person who I talked to said that they are beginning to ship (as we know the i5's are shipping), and that it will be any day now. Patience is a virtue I guess :D
