I've got two questions while we wait.
First, does anyone know the actual dimensions of the 27" iMac v. the 24" iMac? Clearly, I'm not after the diagonal; what I really need to know the vertical dimension.
Second, the new iMacs have firewire 800. Handily, I have a FW800 external drive. This drive has both a FW800 and a FW400 drive. Can I daisy chain a second drive using the FW400 connection?
Thanks in advance.
Is that really a huge issue though? You get 'em to use them, not to brag about them. That's a really, really, really small issue IMHO.

Yes, but it will slow down the chain to the performance of Firewire 400.
Usually all devices that have a Firewire 800 port have two of them so you can daisy chain without losing performance.
Thanks for the super-quick answer.
You're right, my FW800 drive does have two FW800 ports. Is there any benefit , though, in connecting through this port to my FW400-only drive using a FW800-FW400 adapter? I wish the iMac had both firewire connections, but at least it has one!
Called it last night guys (and gals).....Post #1356

No. Once you put a 400 device on the chain any other device on it slows down to Firewire 400 speed.
underneath http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html (2)Thanks, but these are the dimensions of the whole iMac. I was after the screen dimensions. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
