I just hope that they deliver to the US and EU market equal.
I'm not amused if they decide to feed the US market and 1-2 weeks later the EU market.

My guess is they will do a run of one region (US) and then a run of say, GB with those keyboards. Doubt each run lasts a week, but I'm sure they don't alternate one machine at a time.

Supposedly the guy told my dad that they had hoped to ship by 27th nov but could not promise anything and hoped to get delivery before christmas, although 27th dec was another quoted date. In other words I don't even think apple know when these things will be shipping! I think that makes it worse that all these customers are left in the dark about what on earth is actually going on.

Edit:- Apart from getting quoted in the apple support pages regarding the same topic, there has been a post on there of a similar line, and I quote.
"Finally from the latest update i was told by Apple customer service that it will be likely to be shipped end of Nov for uk, i went to apple store and one of their guys said that the Quad core macs are more likely to ship Dec, based on their internal memo, so we are no further forward."

Urban Legend.......

I just spoke to my Apple rep here in London. He advised I wait before placing my order as the current 21.5" and 27" iMacs were launched so long ago, the revised models will be out soon. Look for 23" and 30", and core i9 processors.

Seriously though....

The MacRumors Buyer's Guide (shouldn't that be Buyers' Guide?) states that the average days between updates is 221 days and it has been 20 days since the last update. I know that there are plenty of the new iMacs in happy homes, but it is sad that for those of us who ordered core i5 or i7, nearly 10% of the "ooo, I've got the newest iMac" period is already over. And for those of us in Yurp, there is a while to wait yet.

WHAT? no. Period.

I just called apple to see what's up, well actually to upgrade my shipping lol. Talked to the guy for a few minutes and chatted about some rumors and bs, then he upgraded my shipping to have it within 2 business days lol free of charge.

In Germany/Europe? you get "Fast Ship (EMEA)" for each order without being charged.

Yes, with that update some issues are fixed, like the slowdown or screen flickering.

That could have been the reason for quad cores' delay.

From day one, they've said it will ship in November - even before the problem(s) existed. I don't think 10.6.2 is a reason. Yes, had it of been December when they started to ship them out - I would of agreed with you.

Maybe 10.6.2 was meant to be released in November from day one, that's why quad cores were also due for release in November. It's no secret that i5/i7s need support in the os, in 10.6.1 you need a hacked kernel on i5 hackintosh. To vanilla 10.6 kernel just says that the processor is unsupported and reboots.

I believe that most iMac's are ready to ship, waiting somewhere, it is just that they needed to wait in order to print those new DVD's with the update 10.6.2. I am sure that the factories are going full speed, but some of us will get there iMac's (obviously the i5) sooner than they think.

That's my same feeling. Though this wouldn't explain why the basic C2D with HD4850 which I ordered isn't shipping yet

ahhhhhh should I just cave and buy the quad with my EPP discount or wait to get the apple employee discount from a friend? lol so many decisions! I feel like I can't wait but I know I can lol

Looks like us i7 people are SOL for another week. Maybe. IDK.

I just cleaned my bathroom and I'm not in a good mood so that's probably tainting my optimism.

lol the discount or the imac? or both?

I wont be greedy.... Just the iMac would be fine...:)

I was at the Providence, RI store the day they announced the new iMacs. Naturally, they did not have them on display. We were talking to this great Apple Rep and she was telling us she had just purchased the 13" white MacBook a month or so ago. It was still in the box and she could not return it as the return period had expired.... I tried to buy it from her but she would not budge...

Just goes to show even the Apple Store Reps do not know when new updates are coming out more less when they will be delivered...

I'll even pay the shipping.....

Yes very true, my insider did not know as well and had just purchased one of the mbp. I knew it was gonna happen eventually because I did my research and have been waiting since before october!!!! lol AHHHH so you can see why I am so anxious to give in and just screw the discount. However, it's such a nice discount that I might just wait. lol Maybe the person you spoke with paid the restocking fee and got the new one lol

I am in Italy,
ordered i5 on 23.10, got W9138 and so on.

I'm puzzled about orders number and what they mean, i.e. is there a useful logic.
There seems to be some sort of regional coding (6 = US, 9 =europe?)
other than that is priority ascending or descending? are lists divided by i5 and i7?
finally who says that orders are shipped sequentially (whatever the number logic behind) and are not STRONGLY influenced by a number other external factors such as courier routes, flight schedules, customization, custom clearing times, and maybe just some 10.000 more.
delivery wise do these number mean anything at all?

Just saw this on the Apple Forums:

I called today to get upgraded to express shipping and the Lady I spoke to said that they have started shipping them and if it's a custom build it may be a bit longer the I7 is considered a custom build. She said they have started to ship both the i5 and i7 models

This makes sense. I should be in this first batch but since I opted for the extended keyboard, it will likely be considered custom. Makes me think that China sent a huge shipment of the stock models to the US and Canada. Well, not like I have a choice on the matter. Getting a keyboard without a numeric keypad may do ok for some but it would be extremely difficult for me to do my work on one.

I ordered on the 25th and cc not yet charged. Apple please take my money!
