So I just tried to add a gift message to my i7 (since it shows I can still do that), I figured if I can't see a "prepared to ship" sign I should at least add a "Happy Birthday to Christina, Love Christina" message.

Nope. Won't let me update. Which strikes me as a good sign, if I can't update that, then the order must be too far along to even add in a message.

I'm hopeful!

(ordered on the 27th, I live in Atlanta, my remote which was showing not shipping until the 25th is now prepared to ship)

Filmgirl, same thing here - I tried to add a gift message and it didn't let me. Remote has prepared for shipment.

Protectionism - hardly a new concept for Americans....

Come on guys lets not start the revolution all over again. Apple is a worldwide company whose motive is to make a profit. They will ship out to all countries at the same time. It is just a matter of logistics as to who gets theirs first. They care just as much about the customer in Germany as they do in Cupertino.

Although, I have noticed that it does appear to take a bit longer to get the product to my ancestral homeland of Ireland.

My i7, 8 GB Memory, 1 TB HD order from Oct 20 (first 30 minutes available) still says "Shipping: November" but this morning changed to "Prepared for Shipment" and can no longer be canceled. I assume it will shipping in the next day or two!

Except for the fact that America is the largest customer base for Apple. Not sure why you would be upset that an American company would be shipping to American customers first?

Because it's not JUST an American company. It's an international company servicing customers worldwide. Why should some customers by treated better than others? That's just annoying.

That said I was expecting it, so I'm not surprised. Still though, sucks.

Trying to change to the basic i5 instead of my BTO C2D anyways...:apple:

Has anyone with a BTO i5 or i7 received a shipping confirmation? Since I have no previous experience with Apple, I'm curious, how long after initial stock machines ship do BTO machines begin shipping? I'm waiting on i5, 8GB ram, and iWork pre-installed. (Ordered on 23 Oct., credit card authorized on 5 Nov., Apple still says shipping Nov.)

Ordered i7, 8GB, with numeric keyboard.

My order [W6532*] on Oct 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM PST now says 'Prepared for Shipment.' I am in the Midwest, USA. I paid for 2 day shipping from the start.

No CC charge yet or email...

I just tried to modify/cancel my order just for the sake of seeing what modifications I could make. Received a popup message on my web order that stated due to the type of payment I used to purchase the mac I am not able to modify this order online. Is that a good sign?

I'm so frustrated. I want my life back. lol. I've devoted to much time waiting for this thing. It's like waiting for the love of your life, no? :)

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. Since America is its largest market, it only makes sense that America would be getting the computers first based on logistics. This isn't something that only Apple does. Sony did the exact same thing with the PS3 when it was released a week earlier in Japan than in North America and a good 4 months before any where else in the world (i.e. Europe). Why is it that people in Asia tend to get the newest releases of products from Sony, Samsung...etc. before the rest of the world? This isn't anything new.

I am in nearly the same boat. I can't add a gift message (no link to do it) and the cancel items link is now grayed out. Hoping for the best.

True, but you're not taking into account that these Japanese companies clearly announce it to the public that Japan will be first and then they set other dates for the rest of the world. They are clear about this from the start on.

Apple gives one date or time frame to the whole world, so there shouldn't be a difference between continents in regard to shipping dates. They promise to ship in november to the whole world, not just the USA. If they can't handle it, they shouldn't get people in other continents excited with a misleading shipping date.

Looks like they skipped me (for now). Ordered Z0GF on Oct 20 @ 10:08 PST W6532XXXX. :(

I'm in Canada

Maybe it isn't Apple's fault but your fault for not being realistic and able to contain your excitement? Apple said it would ship in November. It never said everyone would get their iMac on "November X" or that everyone would get them on the same day around the world. Sorry, this isn't Santa Clause doing his job on X-Mas Eve. All that Apple said is that they would ship in November. That is all. Based on logistics and location of its largest customer base, it will ship according to how they feel they can best fill orders. If they have 100,000 orders going to NA and they can fill a FedEx plane bound for Anchorage, AK why not do that rather than send 70,000 and then send another 30,000 on two different planes elsewhere in the world? It is all based on logistics. More people ordering in NA means that they can ship more there.

FYI, if you know the history of the Sony PS3 it was actually suppose to ship worldwide in November 2006, but they ended up "delaying" shipment to Europe until March of the following year.

My new toy is on the way.....

I'm all tingly.....just received shipment notification from Apple. My i5 is on it's way from Shanghai......My first Mac.....gonna be on pins and needles till it get's here....Oh, yes, it is coming to Alberta....so take heart Canadians......

Exactly. Don't blame Apple until your ship date is AFTER Nov. They didn't say they would ship everyone's the same day. And if you order on Nov 22nd, don't expect it to ship in Nov. (not saying you did that or could have possibly done that unless you can travel to the FUTURE!)

I thought this was Apple of California? Oh... that's right just about everything that could be manufactured in the U.S. isn't, anymore.

Shaghai huh? Well congrats. Do you have an estimated time of arrival? When did you place your order.

Yes. But it still says november so I am sure if you order now you'd still get it in november unless they change that soon

In all honesty, I think both parties are to blame here. I by no means am complaining - as long as mines arrives this month, i'm happy.

My point is, Apple told me that these quad core systems will ship on a 'first come, first serve basis'. Clearly not as others have ordered after me and received their shipping notices. Plenty of these cases on this particular thread. No doubt, it will ship in the next few hours or days - all I am getting at is that one shouldn't blame one 'party' but both should be criticised...

Party 1 (consumer) - they said November is shipping. Anytime within November is reasonable.
Party 2 (organisation) - first come, first serve. Wrong.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I will probably purchase apple care too ;) since I didn't know they would even replace screens with dead pixels AWESOME! w00t for their customer service
