I'm order #W6547**** ... my remote just changed this morning to 'prepared for shipment' but it stills says a Nov 25th ship date like it has for the past week. My order was placed Oct 27th... so a week after announce date.

the imac still says 'not yet shipped'

Party 2 (organisation) - first come, first serve. Wrong.

Sorry I am not 100% sure what Apple's policy is regarding this (do they have an official written policy?). However if you were told "first come, first serve" by an Apple rep on the online chat, as we know each one tends to give a different response. They might have just said this assuming this is true (it would make sense). However from a logistics point of view, that doesn't always make sense if you are trying to fill up containers and space on an airplane, especially if you get a better deal the more you can fill up a shipment with. It is in the best interest to ship 100,000 iMacs to NA at one time, rather than do 2 shipments of 50,000 each to NA. It is all a business and trying to maximize efficiency and profits.

True, what you've written from a business point of view is bang on.

The average Joe really wouldn't understand/think of it this way though - what I was told as a customer when placing my order was that "orders taken now will be fulfilled first". Or something along those lines...

Don't know what their policy is but they did say it over the phone when I asked them about it.

I thought this was Apple of California? Oh... that's right just about everything that could be manufactured in the U.S. isn't, anymore.

Shaghai huh? Well congrats. Do you have an estimated time of arrival? When did you place your order.

Thanks, the notice said it would arrive no later than the 17th....Apple upgraded my shipping to expedited for free when I phoned to change it, even though I was prepared to pay for it. I ordered it about 3 weeks ago....Hmmmm...now I can't leave home till it get's here...don't want to miss the courier.....

I think I am having an iMac attack....

Yeah I understand, unfortunately what we are told by the sales person doesn't always match up to what the corporate office does. I think we are all really excited to get our new quad core iMac. That is a good thing. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later for all of us. :D

Based on my conversation with Apple, I can
pretty much assure you next week these
will ship.

...that is, unless there is an unexpected delay.

Has anybody that ordered from a reseller had their QC iMac shipped? I'm wondering if mine's going to take much longer to get here because I ordered it from MacConnection.

I would assume it would take a few days longer since you are dealing with a middle man rather than with Apple directly. It might take a couple of days longer (depending on when MacConnections shipment is sent) based on them getting it, then getting it ready for shipment again, then the time in transit for you (UPS/FedEx). Buying from Apple directly means they can ship it directly to you obviously so it will save some time.

My i5 is shipping!

I ordered my i5 yesterday and received a shipping notice today! Delivery date to Canada : NOV17

I just canceled my order with best buy, I can't wait a day longer. My G5 died last month and it's been a long wait.

Wow that is awesome and super quick!! I wonder if that is the standard shipping or if you might see it a few days earlier?

Interesting... So a few people have said they ordered yesterday and it already shipped out; I wonder why Apple doesn't change the ships "November" to something else, like 3-5 business days for i5, and 7-10 or w/e they need for the i7. Not that it's a big deal, but I'm sure some people would be annoyed to not know when their computer ships before they order...

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I will probably purchase apple care too ;) since I didn't know they would even replace screens with dead pixels AWESOME! w00t for their customer service

They did for me. They said it had to be like 2-3 or more or something like that. They were hesitant, but when it comes to warranty stuff, I don't really budge bc I paid for a computer that would be completely working. And I am really picky.

About the shipping to the US first my intention was not to get people all fired up about it, just was a thought as the company started in the US. Just was a lingering and hopeful thought as my i7 hasn't shipped yet...

Have any i7's with 2TB hard drive been updated to Prepared for Shipment?

Got noticed this Am that mine is shipping with delivery on 11/12: i7, 2TB HD, 4gig ram, with numeric KB, ordered 10/20 from US.

Now that it is coming...Anyone have an opinion on the following...The quads are reported to run warmer than the duals, thus the new design and 3 fans. Would you feel confident leaving this machine on all of the time or shut it down when not in use?

Maybe it isn't Apple's fault but your fault for not being realistic and able to contain your excitement? Apple said it would ship in November. It never said everyone would get their iMac on "November X" or that everyone would get them on the same day around the world. Sorry, this isn't Santa Clause doing his job on X-Mas Eve. All that Apple said is that they would ship in November. That is all. Based on logistics and location of its largest customer base, it will ship according to how they feel they can best fill orders. If they have 100,000 orders going to NA and they can fill a FedEx plane bound for Anchorage, AK why not do that rather than send 70,000 and then send another 30,000 on two different planes elsewhere in the world? It is all based on logistics. More people ordering in NA means that they can ship more there.

FYI, if you know the history of the Sony PS3 it was actually suppose to ship worldwide in November 2006, but they ended up "delaying" shipment to Europe until March of the following year.

Apple's policy is to ship according to order receipt. First come first serve irregardless of whatever country you reside.

End of story, now let's get back to the funny posts....

can't wait

Hi, i was just wondering if someone from spain with an i7 has there iMac sent.

i ordered mine 24 oct with order number W9137XXXX, i7, 8 gb ram and 1tb hd

and it stills says will ship in november

Sorry for my english its not my native language.

Friday would be great :D
The last computer I ordered from apple.ca did come 3 days early. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow that is awesome and super quick!! I wonder if that is the standard shipping or if you might see it a few days earlier?

Come on guys lets not start the revolution all over again. Apple is a worldwide company whose motive is to make a profit. They will ship out to all countries at the same time. It is just a matter of logistics as to who gets theirs first. They care just as much about the customer in Germany as they do in Cupertino.

Although, I have noticed that it does appear to take a bit longer to get the product to my ancestral homeland of Ireland.

Im from Germany and my reseller informed me that my BTO iMac will be assembled in Cork, Ireland. Strange that it takes so long to get you order t oIreland ;-) maybe it's not BTO but standard!

a FlashForward

Today i fainted and had a 137 seconds FlashForward, that on 19th Nov, i will be sitting infront of an enormous 27" screen, an iMac, and typing a hands on review of the new i5 quad core.... Did anyone else have that ?

In order not to spook or change the future events, i have decided to stay closed indoors for the next 9 days :D.

lol :D I didn't have a FlashForward, does that mean I don't get my quad core in November?!?!

Ordered October 20th, 9:50 am PST (about 15 minutes after the store came back up) and my 27" iMac Core i7 is now Prepared for Shipment.

Order number starts with W653 and I live in Edmonton, Canada!

So those of us waiting for our local Apple stores to get the i5, I have finally found out that my local store is expecting them any time now as I guess they were shipped yesterday (makes sense in relation to all those who had their's shipped yesterday). Would be awesome if they got them by the end of the week/this weekend.
