So those of us waiting for our local Apple stores to get the i5, I have finally found out that my local store is expecting them any time now as I guess they were shipped yesterday (makes sense in relation to all those who had their's shipped yesterday). Would be awesome if they got them by the end of the week/this weekend.

OMG I can't wait... I want to burn my eyes on my 27" NOW! :p

And also use it to do my crappy homeworks...

Prepared to ship sounds so good! I figure that means it's all boxed up and ready to go, with its wording being past tense and all. I am so excited now for my i7. I was feeling kind of down yesterday with the good news about all the i5's shipping. I hope we all see the i7's ship within 24 hours if they are prepared. :)

Couple people PLEASE list your general location (and of course i5 or i7). Z0GF isn't enough to distinguish.

I just now how this works -- mine will ship and not make it until Monday, which means it will sit there for another 4 days until I have time to deal with it. I'm hoping against hope that it ships today or tomorrow so I can get it before the weekend and do something useful with it.

Has anybody that ordered from a reseller had their QC iMac shipped? I'm wondering if mine's going to take much longer to get here because I ordered it from MacConnection.

I remember when the 17" unibodys came out. I ordered from MacConnection around the same day as the Apple announcement. I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. It appeared obvious that Apple was supplying there websales and stores first and continued to do so for weeks and weeks.

I waited for weeks after Apple started shipping and finally canceled my order and went directly from Apple. The buyers that bought from a reseller were still waiting for weeks after my laptop was delivered from Apple.

Lesson learned:

New Product, buy from Apple or wait even longer. Also for BTO orders resellers are no cheaper.

I know these iMacs are shipping with DDR3-1066 MHz RAM, anyone know if DDR3-1333 will work?

I ordered the C2D with 3.33ghz, 2TB HD, 8GB RAM (4x2GB), and the Ati 4850.
Order number is W6539XXXX. Still says "Novebmer."

Any reason you didn't go with the i5 instead?

Same here, if it ships tomorrow, I will have it by the end of the week. I could REALLY use it this weekend for a photography shoot. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but it has been my experience in the past that anytime I've seen something prepared for shipment from Apple that it ships within the next 24 hours. I live in the Midwest if that is any help to anyone.

Still inactive...

Ordered stock 17 on 10/23/09 and still can cancel with no progress noted. CC received authorization from Apple on 11/5/09. Order # is 6541xxxx.

Phone just rang and it was an Apple rep checking on the Comment sheet I filled out after my phone call a couple of days ago. I had marked them down on whether my questions were answered. After a nice discussion she indicated they were working hard to get all the orders filled as soon as they can. I told her that some communcation from Apple indicating that would help to stifle the phone calls and emails about order status... just turn the light on every so often so we know Apple is still on the job.

What's the likely hood that the retail store will have the base i7 build? If not can I order through the retail store and pick up at the retail store? I kinda don't want to get this shipped to work.

Any of the i5 chipsets support DDR3-1333, of course. (wikipedia)
I will test it as soon my iMac arrives..
RAM +266MHz .. I think it's worth it..

Yeah I read that on wiki as well as Intel's webpage. I just wasn't sure if Apple would support it with firmware? Or if SL would even be able to utilize the added speed? If it works, that might be worth considering.

Stupid question maybe, but can you mix and match those ram sticks? So 4 gig from apple originals, and 4 gig 1333 ram...?

I really think the i7 has to be BTO. The BTO also has to be sent to your work or home address. I have tried before, but they won't ship to an Apple store. Why not try to pick it up at the UPS/FedEx distribution center instead?

Weird, my remote is listed as prepared for shipment even
though it states "Ships November 24, delivers December 2"
but my i5 still states November. I ordered
on Oct. 26, i5 w/ 8GB Ram, 2TB HD & wired keyboard.
I am in Vancouver, Canada

If that's true, I will have to do that to get the i7. I am still waiting for the actual unit to ship and someone take pictures of the internal before pulling the trigger on this machine.

I just called the 2 retail stores near me (Stamford, CT and Danbury, CT if anyways cares). One of just told me right from the get-go "we do not know, but we'll have them in stock by the end of the month" (Danbury). The other put me on hold for a few minutes then came back and said "we don't have them in stock and not sure when they will get in. They start shipping them to use the same time the on-line orders start shipping, so the website is typically a good indicator".

So based on reports of the i5 pre-orders already being filled... I feel that it's safe to assume that they will be in stores by the end of the week (beginning of next week the least). :):D:):D

I7 • 1TB • Upgraded (4850/512MB) video card. Still says "November."

I placed the order on 10/20. Order number begins with W653.

Not seeing a pattern in shipping here. Unless the delay is because of the upgraded video card.

Edit: Didn't realize that the 4850 was the only option.

Yeah that is what I am expecting as well. Just stinks that they can't look this info up and say, "Oh yeah our ordered was shipped on Nov. X and will be here in the store the morning of Nov. Z. Why don't you come in that morning so you can pick one up." Would make our lives so much easier. :D

Where are you located?

what upgraded video card?
the ATi HD 4850 comes standard with all quad-core iMacs (you don't have any other options)
My guess is that since you ordered an i7 you may not see a status change until later today or even tomorrow. It would seem that i5's are being shipped first.
