FWIW, I paid with CC....not sure why they'd like that better than any other instant money method though....
I didn't get an email from Apple....just a mad refresher like others here.....

why the hell should all i7's by built to order? there is a standard version isn't there?
i7 are upgraded i5 ?? i5 is quad core how can the i7 be upgraded i5 as dual cores????
Yea, Ireland deals with the billing for Europe, but if UPS says it comes from China, then that is probably true. I got told that sometimes Ireland has them in stock, but I doubt it because things just started to move.
Damn i know that i have the choice but he said all i5 are upgraded i7 that is not logical! and he said all i7 are BTO that is also not logical for me
I did NOT get an email when my order changed to "prepared for shipment." Apple will tell you otherwise, saying that you will be emailed when your order is updated, but it is not the case. I did receive an email when I first placed my order though.
I called and the women that helped me was wonderful.
I ended up changing all of the way to the i7!
Now on order is the i7, 2TB HD, 8BG RAM (4x2GB)
Thanks to all who let me know the price difference was not that large. Going to the i7 added about $290 to the total instead of the i5 being 50 less
. The lady on the phone even let me put the difference on a different card.

If you check the Apple website, the i5 models are standard. The i7 models are just BTO. People chose i7 as a upgraded option.
The i5 is the "stock" chip for the quad core version of iMacs. If you want the i7, it is a BTO to custom "upgrade." Shouldn't be that difficult to understand
You can buy 1 quad-core in apples shop.
If you want to upgrade from i5 to i7, you can do it.
But this is BTO.

Wow, good stuff!!! Maybe this doesn't matter to you, but you could have saved a bit and just gone with the 4GB RAM and upgraded it yourself. Would have saved yourself +$100 there. Anyways that should be an awesome computer.
