Congrats in advance guys as you recieve your macs today, hope you enjoy them as much as i look forward to enjoying mine.
I guess you will dissapear from the thread after you get delivery, thanks for your company while we all waited :)

aaah, the "friendships" made while waiting for a new toy.

I bought my daughter an "eMac" on eBay for $50.(looks brand new)
It's nice to know someone in the household is enjoying their mac.

Mines now up and running. Absolutely love the size of the screen. GINORMOUS.

Still getting used to the more cramped keyboard, but have a mac compatible diNovo edge on the way from the US.

Not really a fan of the magic mouse, but have to admit the touch is fantastic for scrolling. Personally still prefer my MX1000.

No dead pixels and no screen flickering *touchwood*. :D

Prepared for shipping.. Although, still 'delivers in November'

I HATE YOU! Just kidding mate, congrats. I am sooo jealous. Enjoy, post a pic or 2.:D

Tell you what, the i7 is fast!

It's running stuff at least 50% faster than my Mac Pro (1,1 - quad core Xeon, 3.0GHz, 12GB RAM). And the screen...... WOW. Makes my 23" Apple Cinema Display look positively fuzzy and washed out! And the SuperDrive is silent compared to my wife's 24" iMac...

I should buy a 2nd one of these for myself (I'm a dual screen kind of guy, being a software developer)... and a 3rd one for my wife. LOL.

I have ordered an i7 for myself and already have all the adapters to connect my 23 Cinema Display as a second monitor. Thats 50 inches of screeny goodness! LOL.

I have also bought an i5 for the Mrs that is going into our family room that will be replacing our TV, to become a little media centre / home PC. I have the Elgato EyeTV Diversity sitting here ready and waiting. So it will be a 27" HD TV with 1TB Personal Video Recorder.

It will also stream the movies off my hard drive and we can watch them in the family room. 27" isn't big for a TV, but the family room is small, and we sit close anyway. The TV it is replacing is a little 50cm CRT job, so 27" HD widescreen is a big step up!

If things go well, who knows - we may even have our iMac's by Wednesday next week... ;)

Mate don't get too excited. I hope I am wrong, but from all info we have been able to source, the next flight leaving for Australia is Tuesday the 24th. All Macs ordered before the 20th will be on that flight. Sorry to un-make your day but at best your Mac will be here December 1 / 2.

Once again I hope I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that is the case.

Thats what CrApple told me too. I was reading on another forum that the resellers were expecting their shipment to leave next week also. Im hoping for a 3 day turn around like the other guy got.. that makes it the 28th which unfortunately is a Saturday, so more likely Monday the 30th fitting just inside the promised November timeframe. Im taking the day off anyway, sounds like an excuse my boss would go for.

I hope im wrong too, and it comes earlier, that way i get a day off earlier, either way, im taking a day off and hopefully getting a mac so i dont have to sit in front of this laptop anymore. Ill post a pic of my cardboard 27" Imac i made and put my dell mini 9 in it when i can work out how to use this new fandangled camera.

I think they are flying out when they're ready...
That's been my experience anyway.

Order date: 8th Nov
Prepared for shipment: Monday
Left China: Tuesday
In Hong Kong: Wednesday
Arriving in Sydney: late tonight

That is an i7 not an i5 though. The i5s may be coming over in bulk.

One other thing im concerned about is that Apple tell us that our units will ship on the 25th. Should this be updated on our shipping status page, or does that only change once the order is "Ready to ship"

Appreciate any feedback

3 posts in a row, nice.

I don't get why the apple store in sydney hasn't got their shipment yet, when people are already getting their i5 delivered. Surely a large shipment to the store would be easier to organise than the single units being shipped to customers?

I spoke to a reseller who spoke to an apple rep yesterday...
The news is, it seems it's all going to happen next week.
(Week commencing 23rd Nov) ....Apple stores, Resellers etc.
We've all heard this before I know.
I'm trying to keep the faith.

Yep i have super forum posting powers.

I dont get the logic either, if it was my business i would be getting the units into the stores ASAP so that you can also upsell other products in the store too.
Are Apple stores franchised, or company owned?
When other items come out (like iphones, blah) does this same thing happon?

I heard a rumor (unconfirmed) that the i5 is being manufactured in a different plant to the i7; and it has less manufacturing capability, hence the hold up.

Eitherway, hopefully by next weekendish we will all be happily sitting in front of our new imacs, doing what ever we do and happy that its all worked out in the end :)

i should have seen this coming.

Ships: 2/11
Delivered: 8/11

quite a bit off the 24th that they originally predicted. not much i can do i guess.

config is stock i7
