Yep i have super forum posting powers.

I dont get the logic either, if it was my business i would be getting the units into the stores ASAP so that you can also upsell other products in the store too.
Are Apple stores franchised, or company owned?
When other items come out (like iphones, blah) does this same thing happon?

I heard a rumor (unconfirmed) that the i5 is being manufactured in a different plant to the i7; and it has less manufacturing capability, hence the hold up.

Eitherway, hopefully by next weekendish we will all be happily sitting in front of our new imacs, doing what ever we do and happy that its all worked out in the end :)

Ah, see, not everyone would see it the same way you would - some will, others won't. Obviously Apple prioritised the Internet orders here, and through some inexplicable reasoning or system failure, some October orders aren't shipping.

Personally I would have done something similar to Apple, prioritise Internet orders, especially BTO's in one factory, and then pump stock units out of another for stores/resellers. But I'm betting that there is only one factory making these computers.

I get a not found error for my tracking number on the TNT website...

Anyone else getting this? :/

Yeah. It takes some hours for TNT's website to get up to date.

Great news though...

Well Well Well, another morning of waking up to bitter disappointment. I would have thought if our machines are all going to be on the 24th flight we should have seen a prepared to ship by now, but still nothing. Dronus, any movement for you?

How can this be fair. Ordered a full 2 weeks after me, got it shipped and DELIVERED before they even look at preparing mine. The is bulls#$t

I think it's time to call Apple and esculate the issue. Don't just let the rep on the other line off lightly (but be as polite as possible of course ;))

Dronus, yo Dronus, you there, is it wake up time in Radelaide yet?

Hey ive been at work since 7am! Not my fault if i fall asleep on my desk shortly after. I have "Keyboard Face" now...

Wonder if i give apple a call and ask why we havnt gone to "Ready to ship"... i just need to see some progres, just something. Its my 3 week aniversary with apple today so i plan to dress up in a tux and run down Hindley street with a bunch of flowers proclaiming my love for all things Apple.
My next post may be in my iphone from the city watch house..

Where is my Imac!

Ok jsut got off the phone to Apple again.

I asked the following questions and got the following answers:

Q. Is my iMac still scheduled for shipping on the 24th November?
A. Yes

Q. Other people who have ordered get a Ships on: or Prepared for shipping: why dont I?
A. We dont know. Maybe its not prepared for shipping yet.

Q. Is there a way to speed up the shipping date of my order as other people are ordering the same computer online, weeks after and are getting it delivered in 5 days.
A. I cannot speed up the delivery date of your order.

Q. Is there someone else who can speed it up?
A. I doubt it.

Q. Has my iMac been built yet?
A. There has been a delay in the video card you specified so it might be waiting for that.
-Rubbish

Q. If an iMac has been built with the same configuration as mine it means that they are being made, i can see people online recieving them. Can you not just ship mine at the same time?
A. No

Q. You tell me my order is going to be shipped on the 24th November. Why doesnt my online status page reflect this?
A. There must be a glitch in the system. It will be updated when your order ships. I cant give you any other information, sorry.

Q. I have been waiting for 3 weeks now, and i see people order and get their computer straight away. can you explain why?
A. We have had alot of complaints about this, but they are being resolved.

Q. Is it because i ordered through a reseller?
A. The issue seems to affect both online orders and reseller orders placed before early November

Q. Since you cannot send my iMac now, I need to know if the shipping date is likely to change, this is important.
A. I will call you if the status changes. At this stage it will be shipped on the 24th or 25th November via 3-5 day shipping with the rest of the orders.

Sheesh, :apple: this is pretty ordinary.

At this point the call should have been passed on to a more senior Apple representative, escalating each level until you got the answer you wanted.

I did ask him if there was someone else i could speak with when i asked him if there was someone else who could speed up my order, but he said no there isnt. Obviously there is, and they jsut dont want to escallate it for some reason... He was trying to get me off the phone as quick as he could, very polite, but i had the feeling i was just being brushed off.

Reakon i should give it another shot, being more assertive about being put through to a more senior person? It seemed like i had to explain everything all over again, so maybe they dont keep notes from when you call to enquire? When i worked on a helldesk back in the day we kept customer notes so we could see their call history.

Thats generally what those sorts of phone in lines are like - pre scripted responses designed to satisfy 8 out of 10 customers and to process the phone queues as quickly as possible.

I imagine that for basic answers like shipping dates and so on, there isn't much of a need for keeping notes on calls.

Definitely call back, go through your order story and request (don't ask if you can ;)) to speak to someone higher up, asking to speak, or asking if there is someone else that you can speak to only gives them the out to close the call.

At any rate, good luck :)

Failing this, and depending on how badly you want to tempt fate, cancel the order and place a new one, that might ship quicker!

I rang back and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told that there are no supervisors. I asked if i could speak to someone who can talk with me about shipping. There is noone i can talk to about shipping, they can only ready what they have on their system.
Im told that the only way that i can get to make a complaint or speak to anyone higher is to email applestores@apple.com.au and someone will call me back.
Writing to them now, lets see what happons.

Well it's been 10+ hours since I got the shipment email and I'm not seeing anything, should I give them a call?

I wouldnt worry mine shipped the same time as yours and i am getting the same deal on the TNT website.

Dronus, I don't know about you, but I am getting very worried that the 24th is not going to happen. I have not had a status update at all, and still showing "Not Yet Shipped". I would have thought by now I would have seen a prepared to ship status change if we were to make the 24th flight.

I am so frustrated that no matter how many times I ring, no-one seems to want to do anything about it at all, they just want to brush it under the carpet. Be lovely to find someone helpful, that would take ownership of the problem and give me some actual service.

Looks like I'll be returning this one - suffering the screen flickering issue.

Gonna try a fresh install as some people seem to have had luck with that to fix it.

Otherwise, it goes back.

Bugger. Yeah i also read somewhere that you can do a PRAM reset or something and it helps, but general concensus is that its a bad run related to hardware. Seems to affect a batch of people who got them within a week of release or so.. Are they sending you a replacement straight away or do you have to send yours back first?

I had a reply from the email i sent, saying that they will get back to me in 7 days, ironic when you are complaining about shipping delays!
I spoke with a few guys at work, and one knew someone who works in Apple management. He had a look at my order number but said there was nothing he (or anyone he knew) could do about it. Apple sure are a secretive bunch! He said the best bet is to just wait, and it will come. The other option is to cancel and reorder but in my case it will probably make things worse.
The apple people that you call to enquire about ordering seem to suggest that they have no authority to do anything, including escallating complaints.

I guess we sit and wait, as long as it is sent next week and it isnt broken or suffer the screen flicker issue it will all work out in the end.

A large amount of people are affected, and i'd hazzard a guess that the resellers and retail stores in Aust would be pretty annoyed by now, maybe its not our battle to fight and let it run its course?

Im just gonna kick back and enjoy the weekend, with any luck by this time next week we will be closer to enjoying naked pictures in HD on our imacs.

I feel your pain! The impression i get is that our machines are just being built now so we wont get a status update until the 24/25th. I believe it is the 25th AU time.

Every person i have spoken to at apple tell me that they will call me when the status changes, so im going to appear popular for once in the office. Im going to pretends its chicks calling me to thank me for "last night" just to spice things up..

Good luck finding someone helpful, although i hear the techo guys are pretty good on the phone.. dunno ive never called them..

I think we just have to wait this week out, look forward to the status change next week and ho0pefully an imac soon after.
