Update on mine - Not Yet Shipped.

I rang DJ's (store) but the guy i normally talk to isn't there until Wednesday and the drone i spoke too sounded like he was going to piss his pants when i suggested that "Not being able to find my order" is not a valid response...

As im sick at home i thought id cheer myself up with a call to Apple (133 622) again. Those guys never fail to entertain me with the excuses and promises.
I was hoping to be able to post the outcome after typing this, but im still on hold so ill edit it in when they get to me..
 
i'm sure that if it doesn't ship today, they'll pull "The shipping date on the Apple Store is only an estimation".

Man I can't believe how patient you've been. Have you even gotten anything extra out of the whole deal yet?

Ive been on hold with apple for about an hour now, but while i was on hold i got a call back from DJ's from another guy. He said he spoke to the Apple Rep, and the Apple rep told him, and sit down for this one,....

Due to a shortage of CPU's the i5 is not shipping into Australia yet.

OMG, i cannot believe that the Apple rep is telling this to DJ's!!

I explained that this is wrong, and that you can buy them off the shelf now, its just DJ's that is being held back. He went on to say that the estimated shipping date is mid to late December.

I asked him to ask the Rep to give me free applecare with my order, he is going to call him back. He let slip that the rep will be in the Marion DJ's store this Wednesday, i might see if i can get in there to speak with this guy face to face...

Unbelievable that Apple is doing this to DJ's and that DJ's are not doing anything about it.. At least fill your pre-orders!!!

*Edit 1* After 1hr 20mins i finally go through to apple orders. A young chp there told me they have no info on orders or shipping for DJ's, but he has received lots of calls from Myers, DJ's and JB HIFI customers looking for updates.
He explained that i should talk with DJ's and ask them to contact the apple rep to see whats happoning in the resellers department. I explained that im getting no info from DJ's now, and they dont know when its happoning.
I asked him if there is a way that someone from apple can call me and let me know when these orders will be released, or approximate shipping dates.
He said no, there isnt as noone knows.
I had to assure him that *Someone* knows whats going on here, orders dont just magically appear, and *someone* is not looking after their clients.
He said he will call the resellers dept and see if he can get an answer, but im not holding my breath.
Next is to find someone higher at DJ's who can call Apple - If they believe the tripe that no orders are being shipped into AU is not just related to them, they need to know this ...
 
This is all starting to turn quite bad IMO.

Apple have really stuffed up here and the fact that DJ's and others are not able to answer our questions honestly is bad. They are lieing when they say it is due to i5 shortages (Must mean that all the i7's have shipped haha ;) ) and ATI chip shortages when the Apple store has stock. This is starting to wearing very thin with a lot of people who are affected by this. I think that the authorities should look into this as it is like price fixing except through delivery of goods. DJ's and others should be looking at this futher as it does not seem right that one company delibertly sell through themselves to disadvantage another.

I think we just all wan't to know the truth and be told when we will get it. Apple can't even distrubute there products which is a very big concern if you sit and think about it. Microsoft was able to get Windows 7 to every one at launch and Apple can't seem to do this with OSX updates.

Same - mine is flicker free.

Uh oh - maybe it's not...

Occasionally, i could swear I saw the quickest of flickers. Kind of like you catch a flash of lightning out of the corner of your eye, but you're never sure you actually saw it or it was a figment of your imagination...

I don't want to have to go through the process of returning this machine... it has now become my main development workhorse :(

Do not buy now if possible because of the wide spread yellow tinge problem. I bought 27 i5 on black friday with the yellow tinge on the right bottom of the screen. Replace one on saturday still got the problem. Third replacement on sunday with yellow tinge. I will keep it untill the return period expired. If apple can not fix it by then I will have to return it and wait or simply buy a much cheaper and easy PC instead. APPLE IS LOSING CUSTOMERS IF PEOPLE CAN NOT GET WHAT THEY ARE PAYING FOR!!!!!!
BTW, I was expecting the imac exactly like you guys in this thread, but after all the wait, when you see the f**ken yellow sh**t on your $2600 screen, you will feel sick! When you still got the sh**t after 2 replacement, you will think apple is nothing special but an expensive PC!!

When you startup on the white or blue solid screen are those colours evenly lit by the led backlight.

Mine appears uneven with darker and lighter horizontal strips, is that normal or should I send it back to Steve ?

It is a shame that you have this yellow tinge. I have not heard much about this problem do you have any more information on this?

Having this crazy wait and then reading of many people having issues with there apples I am starting to realy question if this is all worth it. I am really starting to think of canceling the order.

SLIGHT strips but nothing that i cannot put up with. if you think it is too bad then may aswell take it back. mine wouldnt deviate any more then 5%
 
I'm gonna check mine again when I get home just using a solid colour on the desktop instead of an image, becuase the standard images like the mountain one look awesome, but a variation in back lighting would be hard to spot on an image like that.
Uneven led backlighting could also be the source of the dreaded yellow tinge that people are experiencing.

*****, mate - that is no good! My order hasn't been effected and has moved on from Sydney to Melbourne. Hoping to have it in my hands tomorrow.

The normal excitement of receiving a new iMac is being replaced with absolute fear of receiving a dud! Please not after this long wait... :confused:
 
Maybe my forced waiting period will be a blessing in suprise and everything will be sorted out by the time they make mine... maybe...

I spoke to their rep on friday saying that others who ordered after me from the on-line store were or had received their machines and could he expidite the matter with Apple. He indicated that he had already spoken to their buyer in Melb. who still had no news of when orders would be filled and also disputed
my assertion that Apple were filling on-line orders before the re-sellers. He went so far as to say he disputed the facts that i7 machines had been delivered!!!

I just can't believe it!

Hi everyone,

I was one of those people who ordered through a reseller on the 1st of November.
After hearing all the excuses....

"It'll be here next week.....woops did I say next week, I meant the following week......actually sometime in December......did I say December, I really meant I've got no idea......"

I'm sure you're all familiar with that and with the Black Friday sale....I just completely lost it!
I just couldn't be nice anymore.
Rang up the reseller, was on the phone for what seemed an hour, was told they would ring me back.
My whole body was shaking with frustration.
Rang me back after another hour, outcome - Refund.
The sense of relief was immense.

The second I hung up, I was on the phone to Apple.
Black Friday discount $131.00 (discount with original reseller $0)
Ordered an i7 with no other changes.
Now I have an order number, with an estimated shipping of 11th, delivery 17th and I'm fine with that, because I am no longer in the dark.

###Update###

I can't believe it, I ordered on Friday last week (27th) and I just checked the order progress expecting it to say "Not Yet Shipped" and now it says "Prepared for Shipment"!!
Now, that is fast!

I cannot believe how IGNORANT the DJ corporate buyers are and how DECEIVING Apple is being to them.

Surely by now with all the calls to the stores by irate customers DJ's buyers would have looked into the fact that everyone else who is ordering online is getting their orders within a week, yet we are waiting for over a month. Are they really that naive to believe everything Apple tells them? How can apple treat their resellers like this? I know the answer is to bully them out of the scene...

Not only am i calling DJs everyday looking for answers, i am cutting my DJ's card up once this purchase is finalised. It is not the sales guys fault on the floor, it is bureaucracy gone bananas.

If only i could get a direct number to the buyers.. I didnt hear back from Apple or DJ's today as promised, i hope they have realised there is a problem and they will try and fix it..

All the people who have orders through DJ's / Myers / JB / DSE / HN - keep hounding the store for answers, every day if you can.. we need to get this message through to the buyers..
