Yeah I just called them, said they couldn't tell me. I voiced my anger (nicely) over the fact others have ordered after me, but their gear was already shipping. He said he would check his system and email me. We will see....

They said they would call me back, they didnt. They said they would email me back, they didnt.

My order is W5752**** on the 31 October.

Ive been holding back my normal BOFH energy from today for the phone call to apple on the way home.

What really bites is tht they are stocking these units in shops in the US for people to walk into and buy off the shelf, before people who have had them on order get them!

arrgghh

I hear ya! Very annoying to be stocking shops, when pre orders have not been fulfilled yet. And as with you, people that ordered through the apple store after us, have theirs shipping too! What happened to first come first served.

mine seems to be stuck somewhere between China and here...

15 Nov 2009 11:47:59 Pudong International Airport Shipment In Transit.

It's been 'in transit' for 2 days already - it could have gone around the world twice - TNT sucks.

drouns & brisbaneguy hopefully yours ships soon!

Well it is 2 hours later and no phone call or email. I am not surprised, but if they say they are going to do something, they should follow it through. I know they have thousands of people waiting, and thousands of iMacs to ship, just very frustrating when I thought pre-ordering would be quicker.

What date did you order yours?

just went to the apple store to see if they had quad cores. the guy i talked to was had no idea. my god. terrible.

Apple's policy of making sure no-one knows about upcoming releases - including their customer assistance staff - is way overboard I reckon. How can they expect to help customers if their staff are clueless?

Just read my previous posts, and I sound like an old whinging bitch. LOL. The only line I get from apple on the phone is it will ship in November. My argument that my pre-order should have been filled prior to new orders doesn't seem to have any weight with customer support. So basically as long as they ship it by midnight on the 30th, they feel that is all good.

not only that. i talked to him about a few issues with macs and he completely brushed them off saying that my sources were unreliable. idiot.

WOW that is piss poor. Was it an apple store or a reseller? I have found that the reseller in Brissy (Infinite Systems) is pathetic. I have a feeling it may have gone broke too.

Just gonna cross post from what i wrote in the the other waiting thread... might be interesting for us aussie folk.
Also in regards to the delays at Purdong - a certain american president landed there today so it might have been holding things up...

Cross posting below:
Update:
I had another conversation with Apple this afternoon, especially in regards to the fact that i5's are being stocked in stores in the US, and people ordering them after me are receiving them before me.
It took a few times insisting that i needed to know what the truth is, and i bounced to another operator.
Anyone that thinks that the first come first served theory was enacted is sorely mistaken. Priority was given to the US customers, both on-line and in-store.
Australia is somewhere else down the line...
There is also a discrepancy in the order status vs order fulfilment for anyone ordering before November (it might actually be a few days into November when the first units went out).
People who ordered after this date are getting their orders, and people who ordered before are mostly still sitting on "Not yet Shipped".
My suggestion is to give apple a call and (remaining calm and constructive) ask what they can do to expiate your shipping or status.. They will say they cant do anything the first couple of times, but see what happons..

I kept the operator for a little longer than i should (we went through the customs excuse, the shipping excuse, the high demand excuse and then the its only new excuse which might be valid, but not all in the one phone call.

He said my i5 will ship by the 25th of november, hopefully with delivery before 31 November. mixed feelings really, with the light at the end of the tunnel im feeling a bit better i guess. There must be another run of i5's going down the production line again and some might be heading down under.

Ill update when i hear something further...

ROFL you were not hired cause you are probably over qualified then! :)

I think to work there you just need to have a Gen Y shaggy haircut, permanent 3 day growth and dont mind wearing jeans, turtle neck skivvy and white sneakers (Seinfeld style) hehehe.
I was in sydney a month or so ago and went into that big apple store in the city, looked impressive but when the guy found out i was from RADelaide he dissapeared like a leg of ham at an Amanda Vanstone Xmas party.

We have NextByte in Adelaide, i cant comment on their service as noone served me and macalert - they seem to know what they are doing but south road is a beartch of a spot for a shop..

Brisbaneguy29: if you are a winging bitch then i hate to think what i am! Forget the squeeking wheel, im a completely collapsed axle thats full of collapsed bearings and fingernail on blackboards.

LOL! i was there last year, i talked to a guy and he was even more clueless then this guy. the guy in sydney didnt know that you could take out the MBP battery - he also didnt know that the :apple:TV can only play 720p@6000kbps.

our family has purchased through nextbyte for the last 10 years at least. their service is exceptional! the guy that ran the store now runs the Apple Store at Robina, too bad that he cannot choose the staff (apple HAS to choose staff. sigh).

yous are both as bad as each other :p i dont mind it though. keeps me informed :D

Jesus Christ Wept! Thats another week away, and to my mind totally unacceptable. Do we have to crawl into Steve Jobs bed and give him a hand shandy to get somewhere? Cause right now, I think I just about would.

On an unrelated side note, anyone got a second hand Mac Mini (C2D) they are looking to part with?

What date did you order yours?

Ordered 2/11 - shipped 14/11 - 'standard' i7 config

I shouldn't complain - at least mine has shipped! but it's a little frustrating that it is just waiting on TNT's poor logistics. I was assured by someone at TNT today that it would be delivered by friday but 'looks to be delivered early on thursday' so if this is the case it would want to get a move on!

What time of day are you finding the status changing? Overnight (Here) / Day Time (China / US), or is it just random. I figure these little buggers will be working 24/7 to get these suckers out, but I might be wrong.

<wiping the corner of his mouth with a tea towel> its only kinky the first time...

Yeh at best im up for ships by 25th, another week probably to get here.. this replica cardboard cut out of a 27" mac that i have been sitting in front of with my dell mini 9 (Ubuntu) isnt funny anymore.

In theory, with all their shipping scanning systems and back end infrastructure set up, it should be a real time tracking system, as in when it gets scanned you can immediately see it on the net (obviously need to refresh the page, unless they implemented something like an AJAX listen/refresh script).

However, I'm finding it's a bit delayed. But I'm not worried, I have work to keep me occupied, and sleep for the other bits I can't stay occupied by work or other home stuffs ;)
