So does that mean 14" in May and refresh of the 16" at WWDC?JP was a guest on gadget cast today and he said as far as he knows the 13” MBP refresh in the summer will have a 14” display with slimmer bezels just like the 16” MBP
in other words the term “13 inch refresh” means a 14” display
Looks like a 14“ in May. But a 16“ refresh at WWDC seems weird to me. What would be the upgrade that warrants a presentation compared to the quiet 16“ reveal last year? But Prosser seems to be sure about MBP stuff at WWDC, so who knows? So does that mean 14" in May and refresh of the 16" at WWDC?
What i took from what he said in the Gadget Cast was a 13” refresh in May that is likely to become 14” and I swear he said MacBook Pro ARM stuff at WWDCLooks like a 14“ in May. I can see them doing this but A LOT of people would be pissed if they could of waited a month and bought a 14" in June's WWDCWhat i took from what he said in the Gadget Cast was a 13” refresh in May that is likely to become 14” and I swear he said MacBook Pro ARM stuff at WWDC
I think it will be a 14” in May. I’m not sure about the ARM stuff it would make sense to be a 12 inch MacBook design but Jon said Pro stuff I believe. We know pretty much that Ice Lake will be in the next 13/14” refresh so they could be very controversial and put ARM in a 16” Pro to show off its potentialI can see them doing this but A LOT of people would be pissed if they could of waited a month and bought a 14" in June's WWDC
He said the May refresh will probably be 14“ (at 48:54) and „some ARMbooks for WWDC“ (at 1:07:17).What i took from what he said in the Gadget Cast was a 13” refresh in May that is likely to become 14” and I swear he said MacBook Pro ARM stuff at WWDC
Could they maybe announce an ARM MacBook that gets released in the fall to let developers prepare? This would match Kuo's note from March that the first ARM MacBook will arrive by Q4 2020 or Q1 2021.ARM macbook pro for wwdc? Highly doubt it, but would be great if it happened...
Could well be, there's quite a few model numbers that were registered last June and still haven't been released yet:ARM macbook pro for wwdc? Highly doubt it, but would be great if it happened...
From an earlier post, we can now cross off A2197 as that's the new MBA, still leaves us with potentially 4-5 models to come sometime soon:
So we still have 4/7 models that were registered in June 2019 unaccounted for six months on:
A2141 - 2019 16" MacBook Pro
A2147
A2158
A2159 - 2019 13" MacBook Pro (15W version)
A2179 - 2020 13" MacBook Air
A2182
A2251
And an additional mac was registered in January this year:
A2289
assuming the 2020 16" keeps the A2141 model number, looks like three models could be accounted for by like for like replacements of the Air and up to two 13" Pro models (redesigned with magic keyboards) but then there's three more models to come as well. Either new Arm based MacBooks or configurations that don't currently exist in the lineup? No previous MacBooks have used 'A22' model numbers yet so that's also interesting.
I’m sure we’ll hear more about dates soon. Last year it was late May I believe so it could be the same this year but WWDC is meant to be June 1st so they could delay it until then. In my opinion I think it’ll be mid May because i doubt they’ll want to be too close to WWDCDoes anyone have a rough idea of when in May it might be released? Early or late in the month?
Also generally how long after a new release is it available for order? I’m starting to get desperate now.
People are buying their kids new computers (probably Airs) to keep up with at-home school work now, but I imagine we’re getting close with the Pro change though.I’ve just checked and both 13” models are looking at around 2 weeks for BTO Models. Strangely the New Air has a longer lead times at almost a month for even the standard configurations.
I don't know that necessarily means anything, the base model 13" slipped out almost in parallel with the Air just before it was updated - because of that I was strongly expecting it to be updated at the same time, but of course nothing ended up happening. Think a lot of this is just people running out to buy to work from home while it's unlikely production lines are running at 100% capacity to meet demand.I’ve just checked and both 13” models are looking at around 2 weeks for BTO Models. I think I’ll go for the refresh because I’m using a big monitor 99% of the time, so the mini LED doesn’t really make a difference for me. But I might hold out for WWDC to see if they announce something ARM related - that might change my mind.Is everyone holding out till the 14' miniLED later in the year ? Is it worth it ?
Or the 13' MBP refresh next month ?

I have 10 years old MBP 15" which I am about to replace. I have Mac Pro in office for serious work, so my old trusty rag was decent for a long time for home usage. I hope for new MBP 14" with 6-core i7, 32 gigs of RAM, and dedicated graphics (Radeon Pro 5300M would be enough).
Does that mean the weight likely increases to 3.2-3.3 lbs? That would put more distance between it and the Air.JP was a guest on gadget cast today and he said as far as he knows the 13” MBP refresh in the summer will have a 14” display with slimmer bezels just like the 16” MBP
