What do you guys estimate the configuration will be for 1499 model ?
1035G7-i5, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SDD is most likely.

The (rumoured) ARM transition is bothering me. Not that I have a particular preference for either architecture, but I really don't want to buy a Mac before a major switch over. I don't buy a new Mac very often (typing this on a 2013 iMac, that succeeded a 2006 MacBook) and want to get a lot of years of use out of it. PowerPC Macs were quickly in the rear view mirror after the intel switchover whereas my 7 year old iMac is still running the latest version of MacOS, even if it's getting a bit long in the tooth.
Even if a new MBP were to drop today, I'm at least waiting until WWDC to see if we learn any more about ARM coming to the Mac. And I really want a new MBP.
I’d say 512 at that price point. That’s the current pricing so expect a doubling of the storage1035G7-i5, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SDD is most likely.

Is $1,499 really going to be the price for the base? Is the current $1,299 a reduced price?
I don't think anyone knows for sure. I didn't mean to imply $1499 would be base, I was more wondering what the lowest, or base, amount of RAM will be. Since the 16" now has a minimum of 16GB.
You’d be surprised that the 15” has actually had 16 base since Mid 2014. So there’s always a chance. I think it could be 16GB as standard in the £1799 model as they’ll be adding a 32GB option meaning they’ll still have a stream of revenue from RAM upgrades.Do you think the base RAM will stay the same or increase to 16GB? Was the prior 15" MBP 8GB or did that increase to 16GB with the 16" update? Not that it means anything, but it could be analogous.
Personally I think the prices will remain the same with each price point receiving a doubling of storage. There might be slight price bumps if 16GB comes as standard though. I think honestly it’ll be £1299 for i5-1065NG7 with 256/8, £1499 for i5-1065NG7 with 512/8, £1799 for i5-1068NG7 with 512/16 and finally £1999 for i5-1068NG7 with 1/16. They could of course exchange lower storage for more ramIs $1,499 really going to be the price for the base? Is the current $1,299 a reduced price?
From the leaks it looks like there will be a 15W i5 and i7 and a 28W i5 and i7 so if they bump the prices up it’ll verge on the 16” pricing which I doubt they’ll do. After the 16” was released with the same pricing I think they’ll do the smae$1499 might be the new base Pro since they’ve put quad core in the MacBook Air. The MBA has quad core, 8Gb, 512 for $1299. Seems strange to keep the 1299 Pro at the same price. I think this is another reason for a 14” screen increase. Put the new 2 TB port 14”pro starting at $1499 with higher wattage i5, 8Gb and 512. Entice people to upgrade up. 1799 would have higher wattage chips, 4tb ports, and 16gb Ram?
This seems the most likely to me if they are rolling forward with both models. Odd that there's a leak of a 28W 13" though, I think that reinforces the idea the 14" will still be 8-12 months away, with other mini LED products. So maybe...
$1299 - 13" (2tb ports) 15W i5, 8gb, 256
$1499 - 13" (2tb ports) 15W i5, 8gb, 512
(Customization of 15W i7, up to 16gb RAM, 2TB SSD)
$1799 - 14" (4tb ports) 28W i5, 8gb, 512
$1999 - 14" (4tb ports) 28W i5 16gb, 512 OR 8gb, 1TB SSD
(Customization of 28W i7, up to 32GB RAM, 4TB SSD)
In this scenario, they are keeping the lower end pro at 13" largely unchanged with the exception of the new keyboard (similar to the Air design) so they can hit the competitive $1299 price point. They will be providing more value by doubling the storage, putting in new chips, and faster RAM (maybe wifi 6?). This is for people who want something with better sustained performance than the Air, but don't want to spend upward of $2k for it.
However, they are beefing up the higher end with slightly larger screen and more horsepower under the hood. This is for people who want the ultimate combination of performance and portability and are willing to pay for it.
If this scenario plays out, perhaps that is why there have been so many conflicting reports on which screensize the next update will be? Perhaps, there could be both.
I was think that could explain the reasoning behind the conflicting reports. I’m still hoping (if by some miracle) we get a 14” screen with 512/16 for £1799-£1899So maybe...

In fairness to the twitter account I think 13” has been stated as it’s the only Mac to get 28W processors which makes it as much an assumption as a 14”This seems the most likely to me if they are rolling forward with both models. Because the leaks haven’t mentioned an 8GB test I’m going out on a limb to think that the new version will have 16GB and 32GB options only for the 28W version32GB - Yes, it's mine.
1TB is enough, but if I can get 2TB for the price of 1TB, I'm in.
What makes you think that?So it will be 13inch in the end not 14 it seems
New config tested (2020 13" Macbook Pro)What makes you think that?
From my understanding that’s just an assumption because it’s a 28W processor. In past years these processors have always been in the 13” so its just assumed that it will be in the same computer and the same size. All to say there’s still hopeNew config tested (2020 13" Macbook Pro)
Probably, I really don't see the point of making and releasing the 28W 13" for just a few months.I was think that could explain the reasoning behind the conflicting reports. I’m still hoping (if by some miracle) we get a 14” screen with 512/16 for £1799-£1899

That is well due as the 15" went 16GB base in 2014 (and that was for a $1,999 i7 model, while the current equally priced 13" has only 8GB and an i5!)Because the leaks haven’t mentioned an 8GB test I’m going out on a limb to think that the new version will have 16GB and 32GB options only for the 28W version
The MacBook Air (2020 model) with i5/512/8GB ($1,299) will probably do you just fine for that use. If you really want the Pro for whatever reason, wait for the upcoming new one (hopefully a May release) and see what sort of specs the stock configurations offer.I'm looking to upgrade my 2010 13' MPB. What's a better option to go for ? 1TB/8gb or 512/16GB. I'm just an average user, don't know too much about computer as some of you guys here. In terms of use, consume multimedia quite a bit, web browsing and typing documents for uni etc.
