Nope, the cpu for the 16" will remain the same until late 2020 or early 2021...there is no 45W 10nm cpu in the near future...so if you want a new cpu and redesign keyboard etc..you need to take into the account the 13" macbook pro that probably for sure it will be updated at WWDC 2020 at max

16" will have the same i7 and i9 as now, probably 93-watt-hour battery, new keyboard, a little different design and a new gpu , probably navi 14...it will be nice if it will come with LPDDR4 RAM...but i dont think so its ready

Aaah, did not know that. Thanks for the confirmaton.

From here https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/, I tried to check the the seven MacBook models that were registered in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) few months ago. Still, we just know only one model:

✔ A2147
✔ A2158
✖ A2159 - Macbook Pro13” 2019
✔ A2179
✔ A2182
✔ A2251

In my opinion, Apple registered the models this year and it is a high change that they will organise an event in October. The report said they are 'portable personal computers' but did not clarify if iPads are included in the case. Now, there are six unknown models left. If they are not iPads, we might see, maybe, non-TB models, 14" models, 16" models, etc.

Personally, I am waiting to buy a new Macbook but I do not want the 16" model. Also, if the 16" model is launched, the current prices might be dropped. Hopefully they will held the event. Otherwise, I will fire the purchase button at the end of this month.

I'm really looking forward to the now model(s) because I'd my 2018 13'' already repaired 3 times within one year because of the butterfly keyboard.

A 14'' in the 13'' chassis would be the perfect fit for my although I do not know if I would really wait until Q2 of 2020 if the 16'' really is presented in October.

I'm a bit nervous concerning the 1st-gen problems, it's sad but I lost trust in Apple products with the butterfly keyboard.

Anyways, let's not get to excited about an October event because we do not know if it will indeed happen, personally I doubt more day after day because we did not hear any new leaks about the 16'' MBP for some time ...

I think the 13/14" new macbook pro could be a bigger upgrade than the 16" thnx to the new Intel 10nm with support for LPDDR4 3733mhz ..so those who in general use 13" mbp are due for a big upgrade in 2020

How are the chances for an October release?

Without anybody knowing anything, I would say excellent

There's an entire line of iPad pro models due for an announcement, a tracking device and of course, the Macbook Pro.

If the event will happen, expect an announcement concerning the event date in about a week.

It's weird that the Ming Chi-Kuo guy first says the new stuff will be coming in October and then changes to Q2 of 2020

Things change and his info is usually right because it comes from the supply lines...

Maybe Timmy boy changed dates due to overall market

Well, the Mac Pro is desktop.

But Mac Pro is supposed to use Vega 20 (aka. Radeon VII aka. Radeon Vega Instinct). At least that's what the Mac Pro spec sheet says. And Vega 20 is not RDNA.

Some confusion on here regarding a possible delay to the MBP 16: Just want to highlight the last paragraph of the 9-5 Mac article which cites Kuo:

"Typically, Kuo refers to devices precisely, so information on MacBook Pro would state ‘MacBook Pro’. Therefore, we think it is likely that today’s mention refers to a different Apple laptop line."

So the information given by Kuo is *likely* about the Macbook line in general, which of course Kuo himself wouldn't know exactly which models get a refresh when, but that the rest of the line will be refreshed in 2020.

I would guess that they will announce the 16 MBP in October, for the simple reason that if they don't, the next window is at WWDC 2019, which is a long 8 months from now. In this case, if you combine with Kuo's information, that would mean Apple is refreshing their entire Macbook line in 1 go, which contrasts to how they typically roll out products, leading with a single new product and updating the rest of the line soon after.

The other option is to refresh sometime early 2020, but I don't think Apple has ever announced novel Mac hardware in those periods (probably because sales are slow in that time anyway). Someone can correct me if i'm wrong though!

No idea about when the event will be (if at all), but there is some new hardware with AMD Navi coming in with 15.10.1.

I still believe there will be an event on the 29th of this month.

Of course, that's just personal belief. Nobody knows for certain, but the rumors have been pretty steady about pointing to that date.

Otherwise, yes, 2020 is the next option.

He earlier said MBP this October 2019, and then said MB first half of 2020, just that everybody is mixing things up and thinking that the 2020 refers to the MBP when it probably doesn't.

He has been wrong about a lot of things. If you throw enough spaghetti on the wall....

He's usually pretty on the nose with what is happening, but he often seems to be out a bit on when it's going to appear (or at the least he's very vague on timeframe).

His predictions become accurate close to a product launch, when manufacturing noise he has privileged access to converges to what will actually be released (rather than speculating off prototypes or rumors from design/manufacturers, of which Apple has hundreds of, some which might be for products not due to launch for years, if at all). That is at least my take on his performance over the past several years.

and we do not have any recent predictions on MBP 16 from Kuo ..
which most probably means there is no new product launch anytime soon .. :(
