Hi

Yes that works thanks but does feel like a step backwards in features. In the OS 9 you could just start a workout and then press Lock Screen there and then. Seems odd that you need to step outside the app to lock a screen now

But yes it works - Thanks everyone who helped with this idea
I dont know. I have gone back and forth on this. I actually see the sense in just having it in the control center so it is available for every app and every workout, not just the ones apple deems needs a screen lock. I think it's ut, closer to what garmin does for screen lock.

But I also understand that it is a fundamental change and many folks won't like it.

I’m finding the removal of swiping between Watch faces unnecessary friction that I haven’t gotten used to even after a few weeks.

I wonder why Apple removed this. Staying consistent with iOS? Freeing it for an upcoming gesture? I can’t imagine it’s accomplishing anything. I hope they put it back.

Can anyone let me know how I can remove the red coloured face once activated..?! Before the Beta you could use the crown scroll but now that brings up the app stack...?!

I assume you mean the night mode of the Ultra?
You can control it from the Apple Watch app on your phone. Select the Wayfinder face, scroll down and you can pick between auto, on or off under the night mode setting.
The auto feature is cool, but honestly I liked the way it worked on WatchOS 9 when I was able to activate or deactivate it whenever I wanted.

Have you reported it as a bug? If enough beta testers do it, they might just reverse this boneheaded decision. 🤞

I don't understand this Watch Face complains. I use only one and when I have 2 in the past I was always angry, when I changed it by accident.
I like this new behavior.
I agree, but everyone uses their watch differently or have gotten used to certain functionality. I didn't even know you could swipe in prior OS's, so I am not missing anything, nor do I change my watch face that frequently and when I do, the long press and swipe is fine for me.

Apple is not going to revert on this one, no matter how many people complain. This ain't a bug, it is intentional. I bet there are more complaints about accidental swipes than complaints about removing it.

Like all OS changes in functionality, people will just get used to it. If they ever change something back, people will bitch.

It's an option if you edit the face.

Well obviously it’s not a feature you’ve been using on a daily basis. Others did. Try reading those “complaints” to understand why, with a bit of empathy I’m sure you’ll get it.

I reported it but after people explained it's 'intentional' I pulled my report back and stopped using multiple watch faces... Tim Apple won

Unless they were „people“ from Apple, no-one really knows if it‘s intentional.

Did this „accident“ happen to you often? Did you file a complaint with Apple?

Apple is not going to revert on this one, no matter how many people complain.

Apple reverted on quite a few things in the past when enough people complained.

This ain't a bug, it is intentional.

Probably, but we don‘t really know for sure.

Sorry, but d‘uh. The complaints about the long-press song-and-dance will start in full when this comes to the regular OS version, not just a beta. And I very much doubt there was a non-negligible number of complaints about the swiping. First of all it didn‘t even happen to most people (you said yourself it never happened to you; to me, neither) and it is really not very annoying as you can just-as-easily swipe back.

What would be nice is an option in settings

“Swipe to change face: On/off”

Keeps us all happy.

Going to submit it.

So much this. The gesture doesn‘t even remotely collide with any other gesture, so why just take it away? Make it optional, FFS, and we can all sleep at night again.

For example. I use lots of different complications in different situations so I have 3 variants of Infograph. A quick swipe would get to an appropriate face. Now it’s a pain. Plus since the new Snoopy face has no complications an alternative choice of face is required more often.

Apple could argue this has been done to copy the iPhone’s method of wallpaper switching but the two are used differently.

By the way - if you only want to use one face then you can use the Watch app to delete the others from your Watch Gallery.

Apple likes to tinker and sometimes they "think" they know what's best for us. I have learned to live with it and adapt.

Yeah, we all do, in one way or another. There is no viable alternative anyway, least of all for the Watch. Which I‘m 99% happy with. 😊

Do you think the sleep tracking, oxygen saturation measurement or calorie expenditure estimation are improved with WatchOS 10?

I am still not getting sound/vibrate notifications on my watch. Seemingly randomly, works sometimes and the sometimes I have an unread text but no red dot or sound/vibrate. I am only aware because the complication for messages has number on it. Anyone else?

I have reported it. Not sure how many people will actually do this but it takes a lot for Apple to reverse decisions after WWDC. A notable reversal was the Safari redesign but that took a huge outcry online, in podcasts and by notable Apple reviewers.

Same. Notifications are spotty. Try this, put it on the stronger haptic setting for a bit and see if this works. I think it did for me, but might be nice to have confirmation that I’m not nuts.

I’m struggling with playing music from the watch. The music is downloaded to the Watch and there’s a Bluetooth headset that’s connected to both iPhone and Watch.

Prior to OS 10, when starting the listening from the Watch, the music would go directly to the earphones, which is what I need.

Now, even if there’s connected bluetooth earphones (Shokz), the music would always go via the iPhone. That’s a problem because 1) it drains the Watch battery and 2) workout audio notifications won’t work.

The only workaround I’ve found is to completely turn off the iPhone (or get it out of range), start music from the Watch, then turn on the iPhone. I tried airplane mode or turning off bluetooth on the iPhone, but the phone is still picking up the music. 🤦‍♀️

I’m using a headset which is connected to two devices at the same time (i.e. Watch and iPhone), it’s a preferred setup which I don’t want to change.

Is there some configuration that I’ve missed? Maybe it’s a bug but with the complete change of music logic on the watch, I’m first trying to make sure that it’s not the settings… any ideas?

Dozens of reports in this very thread about this. There is no fix at the moment - the prominent haptic feedback setting does not work long-term (if at all). Please just make sure you report it.

You may not have been taking advantage of the power of complications and different Watch faces for different scenarios. Arguably one of the best advantages of a smart watch that isn't available to old school watches is the ability to change your watch faces according to different scenarios, the same way you can swap out watch bands.

Apple demonstrated multiple watch faces in watchOS 16 as a method for having access to many more complications than the limit of around 4 to 6 that you have on each watch face. Easily swipe between them.

Here's my personal use case:

Modular Watch Face during the day for access to my appointments, weather complication, my fitness and rings and adding To Do's.

I go to the gym and swipe over to my Acitivity Watch Face with its own useful complications:

I go to a more formal event or meeting, throw on a suit and swipe onto an analog clock with complications I need mid day:

If I'm listening to music or a podcast, I have a Now Playing watch face with widgets suited to that activity.

When I'm in the middle of an outdoor photoshoot and want to understand solar dynamics, I switch over to the Solar Dial face.

As the day winds down, I swipe to the simplest watch face:

As you can see, watch faces act almost like home screens for different activities, each with their own apps/complications. I rarely ever had to go to the honeycomb app screen because I have complications for all my most used apps in the scenarios where I need them. Changing between watch faces appropriate for different scenarios is only usable because it's so low friction. Having to press and hold feels like entering a more semi-permanent settings mode.

I'm guessing Apple wants us to focus on widgets instead of complications now. My workaround will be to have each watch face associated with a Focus. Having swipable watch faces would've made changing Focus more natural.

Maybe they can move focus changing to the side button/Control Center, but nothing was more natural than simply swiping over to the Watch face appropriate for the activity/focus you're in.
