I don't know...this morning I had a new Beta on my AW Series 8, and I'm currently running 18.1 on my Series 15 Pro.

The watch OS version is 22R5328e. I'm assuming that was Beta 5?
I was referring to iOS, not Watch OS. If you were pushed 18.1 (only pushed to 15 Pro/Pro MAX) and installed it, this weeks 18.0 beta 5 won't show. Yes, the most recent Watch OS beta was pushed to me running 18.1 on the phone.

It might be a live activity, that's the only thing I can think of. I've seen that happen for Lyft and GrubHub. Their icons show up where the red dot would show, and the icons kinda pulse.
Thanks. I figured out which app it was (App had a different icon on phone not represented same way on watch - Sweet Dreams). I had disabled use of live activity on the apple watch in settings but it had remained until I restarted the app on my phone. If I enable the live activity mirroring on the watch, it appears again, disable, and it won't disappear until I restart the app on the phone... so presuming we may have a bit of a bug there I'll report.

I've got a live activity on my lock screen basically 24x7, so likely in my best interest to keep the Live Activity mirroring off on my watch.

Hmm. Odd one battery with my AWU2

First day in the beta (Thurs) battery seemed good. Even with a gym session.

Overnights have reported 5% using sleep.

Today it used 40% which seemed high but we were driving all afternoon with directions

My Apple Watch battery usually goes down a bit more when sleep tracking, 20-30% during watchOS 11 beta. When it was in watchOS 10 it went down by that amount 5-10%. Do you usually charge your Apple Watch Ultra 2 before bed, or since the battery lasts longer than the other models, wait until it hits 40% or less?

I normally charge a bit before bed and first thing. Most times to the 75% or whatever the “recommended” is.

Last night after hitting 40% it’s did a full charge and I’m at 96% an hour after getting up.

I put my watch on the charger before bed each night. Sleep tracking was fun in the beginning several years ago, but the novelty wore off. I know when I sleep well and when I don’t and I don’t need a watch to confirm it.

I honestly never have battery issues, probably because I don’t feel the need to have it on my wrist 24x7 and it get a fresh charge daily.

My girlfriend on the other hand is obsessed with checking how she slept the minute she wakes up.

I feel the same. If I feel good with less than ideal sleep, then that’s fine. Probably not healthy in the long run, but by having a device tell me I got terrible sleep, then I, personally, tend to hyper focus on that and let it get to my head and make me feel worse. Ignorance is bliss, as they say ;)

But with the new vitals app, I may give it a try. I just can’t imagine how people wear a watch to bed.

Good. The fast charging introduced in newer Apple Watch models is a plus, especially as the battery is now made to last longer for sleep tracking since the Apple Watch Series 6.

I do charge it in the evening after a busy day, or when I shower after working out. I take it off the charger once it hits somewhere in 90 percentage, or by the Optimized Charge Limit if it kicks in. If you sleep track with your Apple Watch your iPhone can send you a notification once it is fully charged. That way you can prevent overcharging and make sure to put your Apple Watch on your wrist every day!

I do need to use sleep tracking on my Apple Watch not just for stages and alarms, but it is required for a third party app named Peaks to determine the routine and adjust my daily schedule accordingly. watchOS 11’s vitals app also requires you to wear your Apple Watch to bed every night and it determines your resting heart rate, breathing rate, blood oxygen (if applicable), temperature (Apple Watch series 8 and later), and sleep time.

But I think it’s good to have an over all look at your health. Sleep tracking no only measures sleep, but there are several other metrics that are measured durning sleep that tell the over all health story. That’s why I use sleep tracking on my Ultra.

Just put it on your wrist and go to sleep. :D I think it’s pretty common to wear a watch to sleep, even pre-Apple Watch.

Even earlier Apple Watch ads in the beginning of its sales in 2015, had people wearing it in bed so they can have an alarm ringing silently or discreetly without having their iPhones ringing very loudly every morning.

I like to wake up pretty early to run before I help the kids get ready for school so waking up before my wife and kids usually. The silent alarm is an amazing and underrated feature

That is if it wakes you up. I have been know to miss that alarm a number of times. The phone alarm almost never.

Yeah, I guess if you need to or want to track all that stuff it is important to some. None of the vitals or metrics you mentioned mean a lot to me, but I get it. I am in pretty good health. I do track all of my workouts daily which is pretty much Peloton and Weight Training. My resting heart rate is 59. I check it at work every now and then. Blood oxygen too. I just don't need to know what it is when I am sleeping.

I can understand that. To each his own. I am just not sure what I do with that data even if I knew it. I can't see myself ever doing a sleep lab. I guess I just don't care enough, especially since I would be sleeping and there is almost nothing I can do about the patterns. I don't have sleep apnea or anything like that. I check my vitals while I am awake or view the results of workouts.

I am definitely an outlier.

Doesnt the new Vitals app take into all this data?

I like the silent alarm as well, it prevents waking up other people near you as well. If you track Apple Watch with the native sleep tracking, the wake up alarm will automatically go off on your Apple Watch you wear to bed, instead of your iPhone.

I don't use the watch for sleep tracking either.
I mean, I'm sure it is useful for some people, I just don´t like wearing a watch while sleeping.
WatchOS 11 and IOS18 Betas have been working really well for me I have to say.
Sure, there are some hiccups and rough edges here and there but I have yet to find something that is broken or doesn't work.

Not sure if this is new or was introduced a while back, but I updated to the beta released yesterday on my Ultra with it still on my wrist. There was a time when it would only update if it was on the charger no matter what the battery life was. I took my watch off the charger at 3AM yesterday and updated it at 3PM, so there had to be a some drain. I was surprised to see "Update Complete" while sitting in the dentist chair.

With the latest updates, battery in general is quite good again during the day, but weirdly, sleep tracking goes anywhere from 8 to 25% drop without any consistency

I searched for the update for the watch in the watch app on my iPhone and it still requested it to be on charger and at least 50%
