I used Waze on my commute this morning. It is very similar in look to Apple Maps with the added benefit of more updated maps. I slightly prefer the clean look of Apple maps. Waze is just too busy because of the user updates (I know that is the appeal). With that said, I think I have really adjusted to the look of google maps with the satellite view over the last week. Being able to see the alternative routes on the go is really nice, and being close to the city satellite view looks really nice. I suggest everyone try all three and see what suits them best. I also noticed google maps is the best of the three in terms of directions. Both Waze and Apple Maps have me go one way to work, and google has me go a different (better) way. The former try to reroute me until I hit a certain point. I was surprised by that because I thought Waze would be identical in terms of mapping to google.

This morning my phone surprised me with Waze for CarPlay! It must have been auto-updated last night. It is awesome, I just miss the odometer (it's not on the car display, and the phone just show the instructions in text).

Couldn’t get voice instructions to work.

And when I tried to add a stop at Starbucks it only seemed to show me Starbucks in my immediate area, not along my route.

I gave up because I couldn’t see where they were in relation to my route.

I just have been able to use voice instructions once on Waze. And this was after trying at least 4 times in a minute; it made this horrible scratch noise and changed the quality of the music playing during about 3-5 seconds each try.

It finally worked, but it only works for "home" and "work". On iOS you can not ask with voice for any other destination

I used Waze today. It’s not great if you drive in the left as the directions are often hidden by the directions and ETA section. It actually made me realised how polished Apple Maps has become. Still better than Google - that voice is inexcusable.

I had a similar problem with voice last night. I’ll try again in a bit.

Anybody having an issue with CarPlay, Waze and Audi's virtual cockpit? iOS 11, and maps (google and/or apple) played nice with 2018 Audi's MMI and virtual cockpit. Now with iOS 12, and Waze, the virtual cockpit shows compass heading only. Map is showing on main NAV display but not on virtual cockpit. Extremely annoying.

Same thing happens in my RS3. Shows the compass.

It’s a known issue with Audi I believe… They need to update something on their end.

Been using it for a few weeks now... I couldn't wait for Waze for CarPlay to be released. And once I got it it it seemed like a huge step backwards to the Apple Maps or Google Maps I was using before.

When you are in Navigation mode it seems to screw up a lot, showing me driving on a road that I am not on.

When I get off the route to take a different way, it takes a long time for it to figure out that I changed my route.

The graphics were like going from an XBOX ONE to a Colecovision especially when compared to the Satellite View in Google Maps. The cartoon icons of seeing other Wazers near you just looks goofy now.

The only thing its got going for it that I like are the notifications. But with the other traffic packages offering live traffic on your route these warnings almost seem useless. (Look out there is a car pulled over on the side of the road, An accident has been reported ahead... etc)

Waze was great... but now I think it needs an overhaul. If they added the notifications to Goole Maps, I think that would be the ultimate Navigation platform.

its garbage they cant even change it for right hand drivers in the uk it covers up the speed

Does anyone else feel that there are fewer notifications? I’m guessing it should make zero difference from phone version to CarPlay, but it really seems like there are WAY less when I’ve used it recently.

This is annoying, but most of the time Waze doesn't know where I am and can't give me turn by turn directions. EVERY other app works--Apple Maps, Google Maps. Waze w/ carplay and standalone, refuses to catch the GPS signal. It's getting super frustrating...

That is one serious case of First World Problem you’ve got there.
But it’s not surprising that Apple releases something, it takes Waze a while to release support for it, then a bug with an exotic car shows up and it takes time to figure out and solve the problem. Such is life.
