New week and I realize that my new position at work is much less walking.

Still over 100k

Back up a little and will probably have to work at it this week. Of course it looks like I'm the only one 'playing'. Is everyone else down on the couch? Don't be afraid to Move?:D

OK, for all you who are bragging on making the once only weekly challenge. How did you do on your step challenge. Guess i need to come up with a badge to give since I'm the only one playing.

I'm down again but lost a day to being 'frozen in' on Saturday. Live in Atlanta and a freeze can be a literal city freeze.

Your numbers are nothing but impressive to me. My best day so far (Apple Watch owner since early November) has only been 10,689 steps. I like to use the freezing weather as an excuse also, as lame as that may be. But who wants to be outdoors when it's –25°F? Once winter is over, I hope to be able to put up some better totals.

Just had a thought --

I wonder if it's feasible to map out everyone's step totals.

You know how, on sites like Garmin Connect and Nike Run Club, they display "heat maps" that show what areas and paths are more popular with runners? Like for Washington, DC, the heat map for the National Mall (between the US Capitol building and the Lincoln Memorial) has solid red sidewalks because so many runners use the path.

I wonder what it would look like to just overlay AW owners' step totals on a map of the US, and then maybe week-by-week, too. Someone in Florida wouldn't have many bad weather days, but like you say, -25F in Utah kinda discourages outdoor activity.

There is no GPS recording except when running the Workout app. So almost all steps are just accelerometer/gyroscope recorded with no GPS points record. Also a large number of total steps are going to be indoors pacing back and forth in a small area out of GPS range. So the answer is it would NOT not feasible or even possible in any way using the :apple:Watch.

Ah, you're right.

The only way to make it work would be to tie step totals to a user's location and/or iCloud/App Store account with home address, but that would be a privacy window that I don't think Apple would want to open to anyone else. Apple themselves might be able to do it, but I don't think they've got a good reason to bother.

If you're late checking your numbers, the health app has all the raw data available and do you can find your weekly total.
On the :apple:Watch open the Activity app. Then Force Touch the 3 Rings and this will bring up last weeks totals which are the screen shots you see in this thread.

In the Activity app on your iPhone go to the day you want to see and just scroll to the bottom left and it has your step totals for that day.

Out of curiosity what was the milage mix? Did you run most of it and if so how far?

Hello Julien

Our exercises are polar opposites, correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are a distance road runner and I am a cross country speed walker/marcher doing hills every day in every kind of weather conditions possible in the Highlands of Scotland. This week sees me ploughing through snow covered forest track - it's tough hard going exercise, but incredibly satisfying on completion. Expect good results this week
I don't compete against anyone except myself because we all do different forms of exercise. Whatever I achieve on a Monday is my target for Tuesday. I pass Mondays total on a Tuesday then pass Tuesdays total on a Wednesday and so on until Sunday, where I should have my best day. If you use a graph it would look like a step ladder going up every day - so all my exercise totals depends on what I achieve on a Monday. Sometimes this is not possible for many reasons, but that is my target.
I think you are brilliant at what you do, I couldn't do it that's for sure. That's why I do hills at a fast pace, easier on my knees and old bones (I'm 68 this year).
I am recovering from serious illness so need to get my fitness back to a high level to live a little bit longer :D:D

All the Best

Really tough week because of extremely bad weather but have ploughed through it with good results:)

See what happens this week - had a slow start on Monday.

All the Best
