I got the 12.9 16 gig, im trying it as a bedroom laptop replacement. I will still have my work MBP and 2 desktops and a server computer. Hoping it will be sweet :D

I do notice that there is some backlight bleed on areas lit up around the lit up spot, not sure if that will be annoying at first.

It'll probably be July before my 12.9 1TB arrives.

The reviews seem consistent with what people thought beforehand, mainly:
1) 12.9" screen looks great
2) Specs have outpaced the software

I have never owned an iPad, but the workflows I have are easily accomplished on an iPad, so I feel content with getting a device that is an amazing tablet for entertainment, but also a viable mini laptop (w/ magic keyboard) that will be used for 6 years.

Any increase in capability that comes through the software side (ie from WWDC or after) is merely a bonus for me.

Nope. Didnt order to replace my 2018 12.9 Pro and won’t until iPad OS stops acting like a glorified iPhone. I’m not expecting much at WWDC either outside of widgets and minor changes.

Not only, black is realy black compared to old one,
Need to see this with my own eyes in store tomorrow.
I'd love to see side by side comparison of 11" or 2020 12.9" with XDR on my own eyes, but that won't simply happen anytime soon. I think so far this is the best evidence of local dimming we have, not coming from the usual shills
Someone has yet to compare it with AMOLED in proper conditions, I may on my own if it arrives tomorrow but I'm lacking the equipment. Expect more honest youtube reviews tomorrow, and proper technical ones about the XDR tech in the following week.

Don’t believe anything that this guy is doing, watched the avengers trailer on my 3rd gen 12.9" pro, it didn‘t look anywhere near as bad as his 11" iPad, looks pretty decent actually, it’s like he found the lowest quality trailer to play 🤦‍♂️

Can‘t trust any of these youtubers, best to see it with your own eyes.

I think the deeper blacks are only noticeable on cameras. I don't know how to explain the moment at 2:55 where both screens seems to be identical. I have two Samsung AMOLED screens and in comparison with iP8 I don't see that much of a difference.
The higher brightness in HDR content on the other hand will be visible for anyone and be handy in brighter environment.

Not at all. Quite happy to keep the 11”. Don’t want a massive heavy iPad and sure MiniLED might be better but there is still blooming. Don’t think it will be worth the extra £250.

i’ve been using a 2019 10.2” iPad and happy with the screen on that so i’m sure the 11” pro will be satisfying.

Here is a Video where you can CLEARLY see the difference of mini LED and HDR. The new screen looks way better.

The comparison begins at 14:10 Min

You can certainly tell the difference, the colours are more bright,

and when he switches the light off, you can clearly see which one is using the mini LED’s

Hmmm

Looks very nice, find it hard to believe last year iPad is that bad, my 3rd gen pro looks better than that, reckon his doing some shifty business during his editing to make the 4th gen look bad.

Still can’t justify upgrading from my 3rd gen, all that might change once I see it the flesh tomorrow 🤦‍♂️😂

The 11" is a portable device (especially with the Non-Magic Keyboard). I use it (and ordered a new M1) with Cellular. It's my out-and-about-always-with-me device.

12.9" (I got a 2018 model) is a home consumption device. The battery is worse than my 11". The Magic keyboard while nice is TOTALLY not portable (it's heavier than the iPad itself and the iPad+Keyboard is heavier than my Air. Ridiculous). I don't see a point updating this machine.

I’m leaning the same way with my 3rd gen, still running like a beast since day one, agree with you on the weight, I’ve got the smart folio case, I tend to take it off most of the time, the iPad feels so light without it.

In general I think there is absolutely no surprise with those reviews. Pretty much everything is as expected ... so there should be no regrets.

More specifically, after seeing some screen comparison reviews, are any of you 11” users regretting not going mini led?

I am a bit annoyed that the new display isn't in the 11in as it seems to look visibly better in dark environments which is something I would have liked.

But having said that I wouldn't call it regrets. The previous 12.9in is already too large and heavy for me and the new one is even a little larger and heavier. So there is no way I would chose it over the 11in just for the display - the device simply doesn't fit my usage (which is mostly as a tablet).

Ditto. I don’t have a keyboard (i either want a proper Mac keyboard or nothing at all), and just use my 2018 12.9 Pro as a consumption device. Still runs like a champ And i rarely take it outside the house anyway. Would definitely consider upgrading if iPad OS receives big updates though (unlikely this year it seems).
