Same, its awesome. I watched John Wick 3 in bed last night with my AirPod Max on and the picture and sound were amazing. Lots of dark scenes in JW3 To show off the display.
For a non oled display, it wasn’t marketing BS from apple, they are deep, inky true blacks, knocked the display out of the park, don’t see what the fuss is about with all this blooming talk, i see blooming on my oled tv from time to time, haven’t come across it that often on my iPad, don’t go looking for it and you’ll be fine.

Zero regrets after seeing the reviews.

The fact that the mini-led screen is ONLY brighter when viewing HDR content makes it a “whatever” type of spec bump ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe in 3-4 years when I upgrade my 11-inch I’ll come to appreciate it for a few seconds? But in the meantime I have no itch to upgrade or screen envy at all.

No regrets - I cancelled my pre-order on 12'9 16Gb one. Had high hopes on proper external monitor support.

But it's still an iPad, for better or worse.

That monitor support - if you mean aspect ratio matching - is not going to come from hardware.

Ditto. I don’t have a keyboard (i either want a proper Mac keyboard or nothing at all), and just use my 2018 12.9 Pro as a consumption device. Still runs like a champ And i rarely take it outside the house anyway. Would definitely consider upgrading if iPad OS receives big updates though (unlikely this year it seems).

Why is it unlikely? If anything I'd say its highly likely.

I suspect they are referring to recent comments from Jon Prosser (fairly accurate "Leaker") who has suggested minimal updates upcoming for iPadOS 15; to some extent I agree - Apple have form for introducing the hardware ahead of time and giving developers time to get up to speed before making OS changes.

👀

Long story short, screen is gorgeous, drop dead stunning, out of this world amazingly good in HDR and non HDR, extra contrast is noticeable in both HDR and non HDR, deep blacks also in HDR and non HDR.

Playing this video at full brightness, all I’m seeing is inky blacks and amazing contrast 👇

Please take your negativity elsewhere.
Agreed - this 12.9 miniOLED display rocks!

I think the reviews basically do say it is a 'game-changer,' or at least really good in those areas of contrast, deep blacks, and brightness that it was supposed to be. But, I'm going to have to see it for myself because of the 'issues' that have also been seen (true, semi-true, or not). I'll be interested to hear what you say after you have the 12.9" in your hands.

With the 11" iPP M1 I have here, the screen is what I expected. It's not a jump up and down WOW! revelation, still very good, but noticeably without those deep blacks I hear about with the XDR. I kind of feel I'm missing something. I guess I wasn't looking for a game-changer given the two size options, just a very good and capable upgrade [from my 10.5"] iPad to work on and enjoy, but still in the smaller 'personal' size I'm used to. And, it was a good bit less $$$ and let me upgrade to 512GB of storage which I couldn't have done with the 12.9" - trade-offs work both ways. Now if the 11" had the XDR I'd probably be feeling I got the whole deal.
Use the YouTube app to watch the video LFC2020 posted above and all doubts will be removed.

I’m liking in in normal use, too, but it’s less-impactful there. It just looks *really clear*, bright and the whites are extremely “there”. Hard to describe the differences. In normal use I’d say it’s like an improvement of 10%-25% (you’ll notice, but it’s not a big enough thing on its own) but when playing a game, or other demanding content (like the HDR video above) the difference stands out a lot and is very impressive.

Loving watch content on this as likely why apple choose to focus on the 12.9 for this mini led display. So much better watching content on.

I’m still not sure what to do. I had recently purchased a 2020 12.5 iPad Pro. I’m still under my 30 day return window until June 17th, but I’ll use this iPad mainly for note taking for school. i just feel I don’t need all that power in an iPad since I already own a 2020 iMac, plus I’m planning on buying the next MacBook Pro that may come out later this year. If I were to return this iPad and get the M1, I would have to pay extra $250. I think I’ll wait for the announcements on WWDC. If there are any major changes on iPadOS, I may really consider it.

That you think the quote below is “negativity” says a lot more about you than it does about my opinion.

“I'm not knocking the tech. I'm happy Apple is moving displays to mini LED and NOT OLED. I think it's a great step. I just hope people don't expect an Earth shattering or paradigm changing experience”

Wow. Just amazing some of the slavish devotion to Apple. I guess expecting a reasonable discussion amongst fanatics was unrealistic.

My mini-led iPad can show blooming, it showed very strong last night when I was damn tired from work, and I was blinded by such brightness. I updated to the 14.5.1 afterward and the blooming basically minimized by half. Today the only time I see blooming is if I’m looking at my iPad at a angle or in darkness and max bright setting of white text on black. I’m loving it.
Watched the YouTube video of the perfect black, looks great. Then I looked at the 8k and 12k videos on YouTube, it looks gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. For my everyday use, I don’t go looking for blooming. I look for the quality of pictures in photos and games.

Hell the Titan Quest game I installed, everything set to max settings look fantastic, runs smooth, no jerky or glitches. Yeah I’m very happy with my new iPad. Can’t wait to play all day on it tomorrow, my day off.

My suggestion to people looking to upgrade, please don’t go looking for the problem. Quit trying to look for the issues, if you don’t think about it, it is not that visible. If you expect to have absolute perfection, you will never find it. Be happy with what you have, and enjoy using it. Peace :)

Not in the slightest. I'm coming from an iPad Air 2. This iPad Pro 11" is everything I wanted it to be. Sure, mini-LED could have been awesome, but I don't think for my use case it's worth the money. My only real struggle with my purchase was choosing the amount of storage. My iPad Air 2 had 64GB and it was finally hitting the limit after all this time. I ended up going with a 256GB Pro, but I still wonder if 512GB would have been a better choice for me since this will be the only iPad I purchase for the next 5-7 years.

I ended up switching to the 256 gb model, more then enough for me. So far, very Impressed, screens beautiful and sharp. And very snappy, everything’s instant

If I charge this new iPad while it is powered down will it automatically turn on once it reaches 100%?

I would keep the 2020 12.9 iPP. That’s what I did. I did not think that u was giving up much useful to me while saving a large amount towards a new MBP.
