Holy **** the bezels on that iPad 3 lol. I remember when it felt so futuristic and fast. Crazy how fast things change nowadays. Makes you feel dumb for running out to buy the newest thing when years later it looks so old.

As someone who doesn't own an OLED yet or anything newer than 2015, the 12.9 is tempting because I already like watching everything on an iPad. It may be too unwieldy tho.

you get used to it, I went from a 2018 11in to the 12.9 2020 and the 11in is way to small for me now.

No regrets - I cancelled my pre-order on 12'9 16Gb one. Had high hopes on proper external monitor support.

But it's still an iPad, for better or worse.

Good to see that the m1 ipad is brighter in normal use compared to the last one. Unlike everyone crying that it’s the same brightness as the last one except for hdr. 100 bucks for an extra 10gbs of ram, 5G and extra 100 nits is a decent deal to me.

No regrets. I was a little bummed that none of the reviewer’s compared them to one of the first or second generation IPP. So I am pretty sure I will not be disappointed in the upgrade. Looking forward to it arriving.

No regrets. After having an 11 inch iPad for years went with the 12.9 inch last year and the comfort and portability for my use case was terrible. The XDR display I'm sure will be awesome and would have loved to see on the 11 inch. For me, not worth sacrificing the comfort, ease of use and portability.

One of the things i'm OCD about in 1000€+ device is backlight bleed.
This is why usually i order few products and compare them. In 2018 MBP 15" i wasn't happy at all with the quality. It's so random and also has multiple factors to it. For example, shipping can also make it worse.

Video bellow makes me SUPER happy i spent the money for 12.9. 100% worth it for this reason alone.

SKIP to 4:07 He has some Side by Side Comparisons that are good. I just Can’t with IPS glow.

I am still so torn. My mom brought over her iPad 11” today with Smart Keyboard case.. I love the screen size but the keyboard was definitely smaller.

More specifically, after seeing some screen comparison reviews, are any of you 11” users regretting not going mini led?

I got an order on the 128gb 11” pro, still feeling good about my choice. Not going for this as a laptop replacement and will spend most of its time out of the house. Portability was a bigger deal and I think the lcd pro screens still look amazing
I have a Pro Display XDR, which is LED, but the mini LED iPad Pro display works similarly.

I think you'll be fine with regular LCD.

Everyone gets geeked about the larger Pro's new screen, but, like the Pro Display XDR, it will look just like a regular iPad screen (except for the blacks) until you run HDR content.

If you don't plan on using a lot of HDR material and the "regular" black (i.e., standard LCD black) doesn't bother you, you won't notice a difference.

I can't stress this enough---you can't just jack the screen to like a 1,000 nits all the time and have your face melt---HDR content is needed for that.

Not according to this naysayer who just got it and now takes all of his skepticism back.

👀😂👌

Prefer the mini led screen over my iPhone 12 Pro Max and my oled tv, big call I know. 😎

Why isn’t anyone else acknowledging that this new display is a game changer?

I’m picking mine up today - I’ve been using iPads since day one of the original iPad with cellular. I’ll report after I get mine and use it some.

Let's look at what he or she said.

"Amazing" is not a helpful description.

The commenter liked the "brightness." Brightness is set to 600 nits in non-HDR. That's an objective data point. It's a little brighter than a MacBook Pro. As I stated, nothing different than a normal Retina display.

The commenter mentioned the blacks. In my comment, I noted this would be a differentiator in a non-HDR setting.

Contrast---contrast in a normal Retina display is excellent. Is contrast on a mimi-LED better in non HDR settings? Perhaps! But I am typing this on a Pro Display XDR---the absolute best screen Apple makes and has ever made. The contrast in non-HDR looks the same as the LG 5K I have in another room.

Finally, we don't know if the poster was viewing HDR content and THAT is what he or she is describing.

Bottom line--I don't think there is anything inconsistent between what I said and what the poster stated.

I think you're probably a fan of the mini LED and I'm not knocking the tech. I'm happy Apple is moving displays to mini LED and NOT OLED. I think it's a great step. I just hope people don't expect an Earth shattering or paradigm changing experience, because it's not that unless you are consuming HDR.

The new iPad Pro is supposedly better than the Pro Display XDR, since it takes the same technology and slaps a ton more dimmable zones into it and into a much smaller screen.

Well the #1 use case for it is HDR. A great improvement all around but no reason for someone with a 12.9 already to go out rushing to buy either

Love the device and have no regrets on choosing the 11" at all. I do wish I'd picked up the 2m USB-C cable at the same time, though since the 1m that came with it broke as soon as I unplugged it for the first time. Not a big deal since I was going to replace it with a 2m eventually anyway but I'm kicking myself for not having ordered it at the same time as I did the pencil.

I'll just use my MBP cable in the interim, since it won't need to be charged for a few days anyway.

👀

Long story short, screen is gorgeous, drop dead stunning, out of this world amazingly good in HDR and non HDR, extra contrast is noticeable in both HDR and non HDR, deep blacks also in HDR and non HDR.

Playing this video at full brightness, all I’m seeing is inky blacks and amazing contrast 👇

I think the reviews basically do say it is a 'game-changer,' or at least really good in those areas of contrast, deep blacks, and brightness that it was supposed to be. But, I'm going to have to see it for myself because of the 'issues' that have also been seen (true, semi-true, or not). I'll be interested to hear what you say after you have the 12.9" in your hands.

With the 11" iPP M1 I have here, the screen is what I expected. It's not a jump up and down WOW! revelation, still very good, but noticeably without those deep blacks I hear about with the XDR. I kind of feel I'm missing something. I guess I wasn't looking for a game-changer given the two size options, just a very good and capable upgrade [from my 10.5"] iPad to work on and enjoy, but still in the smaller 'personal' size I'm used to. And, it was a good bit less $$$ and let me upgrade to 512GB of storage which I couldn't have done with the 12.9" - trade-offs work both ways. Now if the 11" had the XDR I'd probably be feeling I got the whole deal.

Same, its awesome. I watched John Wick 3 in bed last night with my AirPod Max on and the picture and sound were amazing. Lots of dark scenes in JW3 To show off the display.
