Really good album.

Seven Nation Army, by The White Stripes, vastly improved by a funked out bassist and mayonnaise farts (yes, you heard right and I'm not repeating that).

"Seven Nation Army" Is Vastly Improved by Mayo Farts

Jack White is divisive musician. Mayo is a divisive condiment. For some people it’s the only thing that ties a sandwich together, while for others it’s a boring, expensive quest to achieve some dated form of rock-and-roll authenticity that totally overshadows its musical talent. ...Yup!

What I’m trying to say is that they’re a tangy match made in spreadable heaven.

Expert bassist Davie504 brought together the sounds of a bottle of mayo and his own impressively funky skills to cover White’s most recognizable anthem. And as I learned just a moment ago, a lead line played with mayo farts is immensely funny and makes me feel like a 12-year-old for laughing at it.

God dammit Davie.

However, I will say I do find the cover of this by The Oak Ridge Boys (yes, those same Oak Ridge Boys) rather refreshing. They actually released it as a single from an album they dropped in 2009. Here's a clip of them playing it live (starts at the 1:40 mark):

This has absolutely nothing to do with the - result - of the referendum last week, I swear it, m'lud, but just now, entirely coincidentally, I find myself listening to the "Style Council" with a song (I have always loved) that goes by the name of "Everything To Lose."

Good choice.

His music is really rather lovely, elegant, wistful, cheerful, and extraordinarily accomplished.

Anyway, I heard a piece played on the classical (and every other sort of good music) music state radio station some years ago, and jotted the name of the artist down - I used to have pen and paper near to hand when I was listening to the classical music station for such eventualities.

However, it proved surprisingly difficult to lay hands on his music; eventually, I was able to find some of his CDs through Amazon.
