Pink Martini on the train today (iPod and B&W P5s - both of which are almost permanently resident in my briefcase) doing the needful.

I hadn't listened to Pink Martini in an age; they really are wonderful.

he he he... well.. i might buy the Christmas lp.

I have most (not quite all) of their CDs.

They are all on the iPod, (six albums, although the group have recorded more) and out of that I have compiled a playlist which contains several tracks I really like from three of the albums, "Sympathique", "Hang On Little Tomato", and "Hey Eugene".

Now, it may be that I simply haven't listened to some of the later albums quite as often - for example, just now, I am listening to the song "Omide Zendegani" from the album "Get Happy" by - yes, you've guessed it - Pink Martini.

This has that mix of Balkan and Klezmer that I really like, and I cannot understand why I never thought to add it to the playlist of Pink Martini; well, shall do so shortly.

I loved the movie - the bitter-sweet tone so brilliantly reminiscent of Mitteleuropa, especially Mitteleuropa between the wars - and was bowled over by the wonderfully evocative soundtrack (as I love eastern European music, and have lots of Balkan and Klezmer and other forms of traditional and folk music - such as Hungarian - music on CD); so, I am currently listening to the soundtrack of 'Grand Hotel Budapest'.

And, still, somehow, in the mood for soundtrack music.

Thus, now, I find myself listening to the (excellent and eclectic) soundtrack of 'Hable Con Ella', with the title track (Hable Con Ella) currently playing.

A really terrific movie, by the way. Well worth watching.

They usually do raise my spirits! Especially when I can't decide what language I want to listen in at that moment.

If I'm feeling funkier but still multicultural Brooklyn Funk Essentials is also awesome. Particularly In the Buzz Bag which mixes funk hip hop ska and a healthy dose of Turkish music.

Well, @balamw, based on your recommendation in the post above, I was sufficiently intrigued to further check out this group (and no, I had never heard of them) on Amazon.

Having found them, I read the reviews - yes, I read reviews - and they are also glowing.

So, this very minute, I have just placed an order for the CD you have mentioned. And, as you probably know, I love cool, easy, funky jazz.

Not that i would drive to service stations just to listen to the radio...

Listening to 'The Darkside of the Moon' by Pink Floyd.

What a brilliant, ageless and timeless album.

Actually, it was the first album I ever bought - entirely - on my own; prior to that, my brother and I had shared our collection, and split the purchasing costs, and made mutual decisions - preceded by debate and discussion - on what to buy.
