In fact, we were just talking about the nocturne in my Musicology class today, and its feminist implications, at least historically. Of course this is largely, if not completely, lost to history. But it was interesting to see the nocturne's origins. There has been a lot of interesting research about the nocturne, in the past 30 years especially.
My son had piano lessons for 13 years. I have been to many recitals and competitions. I enjoy classical music very much. I just don't listen to it as often as I should. Music is my very favorite form of entertainment. It is rare for me to not have something playing at any given time. My time with the classics this morning was very enjoyable and soothing. I'm going to make an effort to listen to classical more often.😊

While "Spring" (in the legendary Four Seasons by Vivaldi) is almost a cliché, as it is so well known, personally, I prefer, "summer", and, perhaps, surprisingly, "Winter", although, as it happens, (and, as I have written endlessly on these threads), I loathe, detest, and abominate the actual season in reality.
The "summer" and "winter" sections are also my favorites.

And summer is my least favorite season lol.

My favorite times of year in order:
1.Fall
2.Winter
3.Spring
4.Summer

I also quite like Vivaldi but am partial to his lesser known works. Listen to this rendition of "La Folia" - quite "metal" if you forgive the term.

I enjoy classical music too! I never took classical lessons or anything, and it's not my primary domain of performance, but if someone asks me to accompany them on a classical piece or something, I'll do that. Baroque music, especially, has inspired much of modern stuff, so I use Bach as ear training a lot, listening to/singing the middle voices of Bach chorales and such.

Music is my favorite form of entertainment, too, but I never have background music. I'm always actively listening to it.
@rm5

My son Matthew 8 years ago at a recital. He learned Für Elise, mama's favorite, for her birthday.🥰

This is a nice performance, I like it!

At age 65 I'm brand-new to streaming, saw this, and called up the stereo copy on my new Cambridge Audio streamer/DAC, and I really like it, decided it was worth spending on the 5.1 SACD, and purchased. The Amazoid website only listed it as an "Audio CD", but they're not very accurate and most of the comments praised the Surround Sound mix, so fingers crossed.
Thank you for posting this, @S.B.G !

Definitely my favorite genre/era of classical music.

And mine, also.

I love Baroque music, and have thrilled to the discovery (thanks to the online universe) of music from less well known composers/artists from that era.

Thanks!

I also have a Cambridge DAC/streamer, the CXN V2. It's a great piece of gear and I get many hours of enjoyment through it.

This is an absolutely magnificent album! Topped off at the end with one of my favorite pieces, Adagio for Strings. The clarity of the recording is astounding to me. I have and love Adagio for Strings from an old album by my favorite conductor, Herbert von Karajan, and while the performance is superb, the recording doesn’t measure up to this one.

Here is the link to sample the music and/or purchase it in hi-res PCM, DSD or WAV.
