Another phone, possibly Android. I like the Samsung s10e.
Getting really annoyed with iOS (Safari not loading system requirements info on several sites yesterday just drove me up a tree). My 8+ is nowhere near as good as the 7+ was in every way.
It has to wait though. After big purchases tomorrow, real life stuff again.
Today, while idly browsing, I noticed that A&K have announced some new products, including one product that supplants their current flagship MP3, the splendid AK SP 1000.
This is the SP2000, due to be launched in July.
Do I need it?
No.
Can I afford it?
No.
Do I want - that awful verb with its connotation of mindless desire?
Yes.
Do I have an excellent mp3 (as I have become tired of the increasingly tedious complications of the Apple universe - my iPods are a trial to use rather than the effortless and cheerful delight they used to be)?
Yes.
Actually, as it happens, I am the proud owner of the SP1000.......
I have looked at the SP1000 and love the look of the product but I cannot justify the price. What does this product provide that a vastly cheaper product cannot? I believe that as one gets older the ability to recognise minute differences is sound is greatly diminished. For example, I own a pair of B&W P9's and also a pair of Bose QC35's and although I do notice the better quality in the B&W's, that difference is certainly not £400 worth better.
I don't want to sound negative, I buy Apple products that I am sure I could save money on by buying cheaper alternatives, but need some evidence that when I buy a more expensive product it's worth it.
I have an expensive OLED TV because it's widely recognised as the best panels to buy. I'm not convinced re the SP1000 or the SP2000.
Anyway, as I say, I don't want to sound negative!
Thing is, most people these days are using their iPhone or iPad to listen to their iTunes library, therefore no longer depending upon a separate MP3 player. Why carry around two devices when one can get music, phone calls, emails, watch tv shows and movies and surf the web all on one device? That’s why the iPod has been fading in popularity over the past several years. Audio quality is a whole other issue, of course.
That said, I have only just recently lovingly tucked my iPod 5G into a drawer for a well-deserved, long-overdue retirement, since it is no longer needed for the last thing for which I was still using it - playing music in the car. (I have an older car, not one equipped to use Car Play and such.) With a recent replacement of the head unit in the car now I can plug in my iPhone or iPad into the system’s USB port right on the front panel, which is what I’ve been doing ever since, and although I can still also plug in the iPod with an aux cable, I doubt that I’ll ever bother doing that again as the other works just fine and in many ways is much more convenient.
Totally get it. When you're on the road, home is whatever hotel you're in this week.I travel quite a bit

The Blessing, by Lee Teter
An art dealer, from whom I’ve purchased several prints, called yesterday to let me know that he has a new gallery. He had been working out of his house since he lost his lease a few years back, and therefore couldn’t display his art.
He mentioned that he had about 40 Lee Teter prints, signed and numbered, including some limited edition hand painted prints, which had been stored in boxes.
Of course the picture above doesn’t do the painting justice, but now I’m struggling with how to afford this.
Putting that tax rebate to good use!
