Thanks. I might give it a go before my gamepass subscription runs out in 2 weeks.

I fancy a new game to play but don't want to commit to anything that's too lenght. 8-12 for main campaign is ideal. I will nose dive in a 30-40h game over Christmas.
You can get a lot done quickly. Depends how good of player you are. It’s an addicting game. More you play the more abilities you unlock. I could finish it in a week but I play too much when I do.

I have now played 3 missions of Control on gamepass. The physics and damage modelling are spectacular. I bet that the Ultimate Edition is gorgeous on the Series X but I can't justify it for £32 when the previous gen version is available on GP.

The gameplay is nice and I love the combination of gun and telekanesis. However I not hooked on the game and lack emotional connection to the lead character or anyone else in the game for they matter.

Furthermore killing enemies is pretty easy even without unlocking lots of abilities.

I’ve only played it on my ps5. It takes some time getting into the game and what all in going on in the game. I love Jesse and how she is towards the bureau and what they did to her and her brother growing up. But I’m into that kind Of psychological horror and love everything about the game. It definitely gets harder the more you play.
you’ll see the number over an enemy showing how hard they are also.

It’s such a good game. One of the first ones I downloaded when I got my PS5. I love all of the DualSense touches they added to the game.

I had to turn off the dual sense triggers when i was doing the shum arcade machines. Probably took me over a few hours and it was nonstop combat. Made me fingers start to hurt a bit because of the added resistance it does. But yea the dual sense is pretty awesome. Returnal is really good with it there too.

There is alot of depth to the story if you are into dark detective, mystery genre. However I find the sheer number of documents in game overwhelming to read.

Furthermore I wish that the map rotated in my direction. More check points would be nice, however I like that the scarcity of them keep you on you alert.

Once again, the physics, game play mechanics and damage modelling are jaw dropping and I would love to see them in a game with a different story.

+1 for Control

The gameplay, story and overall art direction are far and above everything I saw this year.

If you have powerful graphics processor, it is also hands down the most gorgeous game that I've seen in a while.

Yea there are some things I’d change in the game. The documents are a big part of that. I feel like its a bad way to tell a story. There’s a lot of video type stuff I pay more attention to. The way returnal tells the story is through video logs you pick up as you go which I like much more.
Most of the main story In control is cut scenes which is good. The documents are mostly side quests. Funny thing is I like watching people play games too and I like the documents but if someone else is reading it to me. When I played I barely read much of the document stuff.

Checkpoints I don’t think are a problem but I’m used to souls games and they have way less check points then control. Returnal has literally no checkpoints and I love it for that but it’s too hard for most people and most complain about no save point until the second half of the game.
The map isn’t bad, I like that you can have it up while running around but it should be less dark in that situation. It could be improved though for sure.

If you haven’t checked out returnal I would. It’s my game of the year. Very alien scifi vibes. It’s pretty hard though so expect a challenge. I played Control after returnal from a recommendation of similar controls to returnal. Both have that scifi feel I love.
Retural has alien planets with alien guns. Intense audio with crazy fights that lock you into rooms with the enemies. The fights in returnal are more intense and the audio contributes to that more than control. They both feel somewhat similar in ways though.

Will do

Edit: Will don't, damned PS% exclusives

Bought Witcher 3 GoY Edition in May. Was waiting for tnr next gen version to play it. However it has been postponed to Q2 2021.

I have decided to start playing it with the belief that the next gen version isn't worth waiting for.

So far next gen versions mainly introduce:
-60fps
-Dolby Vision
"Lick of paint"(Improved textures and more vibrant colours)
-4k resolution

Naively some people(including me) expect a next gen version to turn a 2015 game into a 2021 game with similar draw distance, AI, physics, animation and building density. This is unrealistic.

W3 already looks good thanks to the Xbox One enhanced version which offers HDR, 60fps@1080 or 30fps@4k, HDR. It's already a great looking game. The next gen version will likely offer 60fps@4k, Dolby Vision and enhanced terrain graphics. However I think the improvements will be marginal rather than "OMG the XBO version looks super dated and unplayable.

Rainy day means 90s arcade at home time.

Primal Rage is one of the few machines that cannot be properly emulated. There is a ROM encryption that essentially gimps the game of its moves, gore, fatalities and physics.
That’s too bad. I used to play that in the arcade Back in the 90’s

I just finished The Last of Us (Part I) on my new PS5. What a great game! It took me 21 hours to complete on hard mode. I can't wait to start Part II when it goes on sale. I've heard that it's even better than Part I.

I recently started lou 1 and then 2 back last December when I got a ps5. I didn’t get into the hype of the game when it came out and thought it was just another zombie game. Turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time. Don’t lookup what happens in two. It’s Pretty brutal but I do love it still. Just a hard story depending on how much you got into the first stories game. Which I think is one of the best told stories in all gaming history with its character building. Gameplay is better on the second one with the new mechanic they added. They just added a 60fps patch for it too. It plays really well.

I absolutely loved those two games. Part II got bashed online a lot, but I never got why. I loved the way it played on my emotions. I actually felt sad, happy, mad, etc during the game. Not a lot of games can do that. (only RDR2 comes to mind when thinking of another game that really sucked me into the story)

So I bought the Forza Horizon 5 vip pass for the expansion and got early access. Was playing last night and man that game is so absolutely gorgeous. And a ton of fun.

Have you played Burnout Paradise? I just read an article on Forza Horizon that sounded to me, like these games are somewhat similar in spirit: open world, exploring the map, etc. How would you say they compare?

Never owned an Xbox, so I have never played a Forza game.

Can't compare burnout to Forza Horizon which is unmatched when it comes to attention to detail on cars and most importantly the world.

I love the Burnout series and would highly recommend Forza Horizon since you’re a fan of it yourself. It isn’t as arcade-y but it‘s absolutely incredible in its own right.
