Well it happened. I found a temple and explored it killing all the enemies and trying to solve the puzzle but then realized I shouldn't have been there until I started the actual quest for that temple so I had to leave and go back and redo everything.

Mainly my fault for being there early but still a little annoying.

I have definitely continued my love/hate of TotK (seems to be no in between for me, either gushing or ranting!) - set it aside and am playing Solasta on Steam Deck.

Yeah I dropped TotK. It's a good game, and extremely polished. But after putting 200 hours into Breath of the Wild this is just more of the same with some building mechanics that don't interest me in the slightest. It's not for me but I'm glad people are enjoying it.

But what are the mechanics to do these things? They are common things and are actually more easily done by those of higher skill (except cooking, which just requires patience).

And honestly that makes no sense - every game has health/armor/etc. items and ALSO have difficulty levels. Simply having a multiplier for damage dealt or received would

I would argue that for every person who complains about the game being too easy there are 1000 people who quit playing out of frustration.

Because while the main game might be fun, coming to an enemy that one person beats in a single try, another takes 3-4 attempts, and a third fails 100 times in spite of doing everything to get hearts/armor/stamina/recipes ... is a very different gaming experience.
The game is massive. It seems they just couldn't squeeze that in, since balance is always time consuming. Still, this could be something for a future Zelda game (although I'm not hopeful. IIRC, none of them had a difficulty setting from the start :\ )

I'm going to say the Rachet and Clank game has grown on me. I think I progressed fairly deep into the game, i.e., I just re-constructed the dimensionator. The game has a good balance of side/optional missions, lore and pacing.

90+ hours into TotK and nowhere near done. Still enjoying the hell of it. I had long dropped out of BotW by this point.

Been a while since I posted. I finished Resident Evil 7 and Final Fantasy 15 in the mean time, two backlog titles that have been waiting for me to finish them for a long long time.
Now counting the days for the Final Fantasy 16 release. If you haven't played the demo yet and like Game of Thrones, please play it. It's a FF for an adult audience, that's for sure. Took two days off of work for the release, been a while since I've done that. Must admit, it's partly nostalgia since I'm a FF-fan for over 25 years now... But it's the first FF that has me hyped for over a long time... FF15 for example never "grabbed" me.

I feel the exact same way. I loved the demo and I'm looking forward to a big, expensive sprawling Final Fantasy story. The last time I bought a 'new' FF game was FF8!

I'm 70+ in. Loving it but am, since yesterday focused on just doing the main quests and completing the game. I will then tinker with side quest, crazy vehicle builds and stunts.

In 3 months I might either sell it to buy Hogwarts Legacy or the next assigns creed game. Either of those will keep me busy until GTA 6 comes out sometime in Q2-4 when ever it might be released.

I've been so focused on side quests, finding shrines, and exploring underground. Haven't even tried crazy builds.

I *CANNOT* believe I'm interested in an Assassins's Creed game again, but the next one looks so good.

I have barely explored the underground. Will likely thoroughly tackle it once I have completed the story.

Tell me about it regarding AC. Valhalla looks like a chore of filler content. It put me off the franchise but mirage looks authentic and promising.

I won't give anything away, but you might not want to put off exploring underground. There are some helpful things to find down there....

This review killed my interest in Valhalla. It seems like they strayed so far for the original formula that made the series so fun.

I finished up Ratchet and Clank a rift apart. It was a fun game, nicely sized. I didn't feel like the game was overly long or too short. It had good story telling, and it kept me engaged.
Open world RPG games can be superb value but occasionally I don't mind a linear-ish game that I can finish in a weekend.

One of the reasons I hate the underground is the poor visibility when played on the switch. The contrast and black levels are terrible - especially areas in the distance that are not lit by bloom plants. It's an area of the game that I prefer playing docked on my LG C1.

Yeah it's really bad. There are some items you can find that make visibility better.

The System Shock Remake came out not too long ago and I've been playing that on my Steam Deck. Using the Deck's built in gyro controls it can control the pointer when navigating the inventory and doing puzzles, as well as greatly helping with aim.
