Finally got around to finishing Resident Evil 7 (PS4) this evening.

Then after a short break, I went straight back through NG+ on easy to speed run through the entire game. Just finished the 2nd play through :D

Such a good game! I try to be macho when it comes to horror but the opening few hours of the game were genuinely scary. I felt less scared as the game went on, especially as you start to feel less helpless, but that feeling of dread doesn't quite go away.

I'll consider a "madhouse" run through at some point too I guess.

Just finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I'm a little surprised it did not get better ratings. Some of the side missions were a but repetitive though.

The ratings suffered due to constant glitches and crashes when the game was first released. Many gamers were frustrated with the experience with those issues and aside from the constant repetition of the same missions, It fell short with clunky controls and sub par driving with vehicles. It deserved the rating it was given.

It has around a 85-86 on metacritic. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.

That's incorrect. Metacritic rated Mafia III at "68." The average user rating was 5/10. Other games sites have an average user score of a "6."

Again, the game suffered from issues with crashes and glitches. It's not a bad game, but it's forgettable. The strongest point of the game is the dialogue and story line. Everything else appears to fall short with the missions be repetitive. The controls feel unrefined.

As of now, you can find the game new for $25.00. I wouldn't pay over that for it.

Edit: Continued playing tonight. More unnecessary glitches with cars floating and icons popping up in the wrong places. These are the types of glitches that frustrate gamers and take away from the experience of the game.

My God, Horizon: Zero Dawn + LG 4K OLED + PS4 Pro = breathtaking.

My copy arrives tomorrow, can't wait to see what it looks like on my Pro with HDR 4K TV too.

At moment i'm working my way slowly through Nioh and Gravity Rush 2, but they will be put aside when H:ZD arrives.

To me, Mafia III earned every bit of its rating. Visually beautiful with a germ of an interesting plot, the mechanics were tired, bordering on atrocious.

It's the sort of title that transforms anybody with functioning eyes into an unabashed pixel tart. Utterly sumptuous. I'm also thrilled with the polish of the game, especially compared to the general awkwardness of Final Fantasy XV.

My bad I thought you were talking about resident evil 7 lol. I misread your post.

Horizon: Zero Dawn and OMG I can't believe this is an open world rpg game. The combat and controls are so fluid it almost feels like an action game with focus on fighting. The graphics is just unbelievable I just can't believe that this is an open world game.

I'm not far at all into it but so far its very interesting.

Agreed. It had the potential to be a great game, but fell short with repetition and clumsy controls.

Nioh is great. It's really tough, but somehow I feel like I am making better progress in it than either BB or DS3. I did have to get a hand online with the bosses. I give myself 12 attempts and if I am still struggling I call in help. It's actually a great way to get just enough help to further progression so you don't feel like the developers are taking the pee out of you.

I can see the game being nominated for game of the year and it's only Feb.

It is a good game. But I certainly don't see it being nominated for game of the year at all, it struggles with repetition heavily. And all the subquests, the developers Send you back to the same location. It makes me think of Ninja Gaiden (Nintendo) mixed with Dark Souls.

It's very challenging in the right areas, and there really is no benefit for the Pro users. Exploration is limited and you spend alot of time managing inventory. The gameplay is fluid and the graphics are on par, nothing outstanding.

And I find that all the enemies primarily use the same moves and fighting techniques. Which I think is to predictable. I do like the leveling up tree, overall, it's a very solid, tedious game.

With Mass Effect, Horizon Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar will win game of the year in all likeliness) I definitely think those might be the the top three contenders for game of the year.

If The Last Of Us 2 were to debut in 2017, then I would change my mind. But Naughty Dog hinted 2018 I believe.

Halo Wars 2 and Forza Horizon 3, 2 of the best games I have EVER played! Both really making my Xbox One S shine :D
Halo Wars 2 is one of th best RTS games I've played! Up there with Starcraft 2 in my opinion. I haven't played online yet though... but the controls are brilliant and easy.
Forza offers a stunning experience and looks gorgeous.

I am playing these games
Silent Bomber for PS1
Dream League Soccer
Mountain Sniper

Started Life is Strange last night. So far I couldn't get into it. I may have overdosed on teenagers with Until Dawn...?

The rewind time mechanic does nothing for me so far. Making choices in games like these lose impact when you can just rewind after you see the immediate effect.

I made it to the dorms. Does the core gameplay change much after that? Does the story get more awesome?

I finished the game in January. It wasn't for me at all. It's a very linear story that seems very convoluted to me. The gameplay doesn't change much at all. It's very story driven and you can't deviate from anything than making a few decisions. It's interesting, but fell flat for me. The voice acting is good, but the storyline gets stranger and less appealing to me. There is a lot of useless searching for clues that have nothing to do with the game.

It has five chapters and there is about 10-12 hours of gameplay. There is a few plot twists, but other than that, it's a $10.00 game. It's an Indie game that offers as much content as it probably could from the developers.

I really liked it and as you can see from various opinions, it really isn't for everyone and the points made above are very valid.

I like these story driven games though and feel the decisions actually impacted as I played through again and it was a completely different story.

The opening episode is tough to get through but it really picks up and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the $10 I paid for it.

I'd give it a couple more episodes.

Past few days on Console:

PS4: No Man's Sky w/ Pathfinder Update - just awesome
XB1: Halo Wars 2 Demo - I only sorta like RTS games, and to me, they seem to be more playable on a computer up close than a console w/ controller from a couch. Deleted it.

EVERSPACE just came out with a major patch as well - larger ships to visit! Will play that over this weekend.

After some initial doubts, I'm LOVING 'Until Dawn'. It took me an hour of gameplay to really appreciate the game.

It's a little bit scary at some parts. It's an awesome exclusive for the PS4.

Currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn, at least until Mass Effect Andromeda. I've been enjoying it. I am fan of the last two Tomb Raiders, and this is in the same vein, only a little prettier.

I may find myself sucked back into Destiny, when the last update drops with the upgraded raids.

Until Mass Effect Andromeda of course. ;)

I'm playing some old classics on my iMac right now.

Dragon Age 2
Witcher 2
Jade Empire
KOTOR 1 & 2

Off and on I play Diablo 3
