Just completed Mafia 3 for the PS4:
My thoughts:
Mafia 3 had so much potential to be such a great game, but fell short on multiple levels. Especially being main story missions had two purposes throughout the whole game: Kill and destroy. That's it. Redundant, but very entertaining at times.
The amount of technical glitches in this game was completely uncalled for. Floating cars, stock icons, non-playable characters getting stuck, broken dialogue, etc.
This is the only game that actually froze on me in between sequences. I had to end the application and restart the game.
The positive notes on this game were the cut scenes for the main storyline of the game were very good, with strong dialogue/good graphically. The weapons were fun to use and had authenticity to them. Stealth kills were addicting and fun. The 1960s/70s Louisiana setting was very well done. The licensed soundtrack 2K chose for this game excellent with popular artists during that time frame.
However, graphically, the Map was not a game that enticed me to want to explore, as everything seemed to blend in and look the same, except when you were in to the marshland area.
The enemy artificial intelligence was horrible. The way they would move when they would shoot you, repeating the same redundant dialogue lines over again, not very smart on how they would approach you.
The Storyline started good, but overall disinterested me.
Conclusion: A lot of hard work went into this game from 2K/Hangar 13 and was very clear from the Setting During this era and it's a good game at best, but far from ever being great. Which I feel I could've had a lot more potential if some of these areas were addressed.
