Finished Until Dawn. Three survivors. :D

I thought it was good and could have been great. Actually likeable characters would have made a huge difference, and I didn't like where they took the story after the first half.

My wife and I played this together, and we really couldn't make ourselves care for any of those characters. We ended up shooting Emily in the face, just because we wanted her to shut up. And when the other kids died, we were just like "meh". Next time ask Naughty Dog or Bioware how to write good characters!

And the story lost us with that whole Wendigo thing. It would have been much scarier if it was just a psycho killer stalking them. The first few hours freaked us out, and then after Flamethrower Boy showed up, it just got too silly.

I may jump back in to see if I can make them all survive, but I'll probably put this on Ebay soon, while I still get a few bucks for it.

Exactly, I survived with 4 survivors but because I didn't like or care for any of them (everyone was detestable to a greater or lesser extent + you know where the story goes, there's no real multiple ending, just how many survive) I had zero compunction to replay.

It was good overall and glad I played it. It was for most part really well put together, but the characters were just too stereotyped and unlikable.

I'm still grinding away at Elder Scrolls Online, but I did take a moment out of that to try the For Honor Beta over the weekend.

I was really looking forward to For Honor, but was really disappointed in what I played. The controls felt a bit clunky to me, the 4v4 matches turn into 'No Honor' gank fest, there is lack of content, and environments are repetitive and boring. I like what this game is trying to do, but it's poorly executed IMHO. Suffice to say, pre-order cancelled.

Now I'm eyeing to get Nioh instead, but not sure I want to start playing a punishing Action RPG just yet. I wish I had a chance to try the Nioh Beta, but missed it. By all accounts, Nioh is a must buy for any Souls-Borne fan, so will get it eventually when I'm ready to commit to the challenge.

For now, back to ESO. We get player housing added in a week and a big Morrowind expansion in June.

NAZI's, mad scientists & the supernatural what more could one want of an FPS :) The mods vastly improve the graphics :) equally also increase the difficulty, which helps my poor skills no end :p enjoying all the same.

Q-6

Nioh is great. It's really tough, but somehow I feel like I am making better progress in it than either BB or DS3. I did have to get a hand online with the bosses. I give myself 12 attempts and if I am still struggling I call in help. It's actually a great way to get just enough help to further progression so you don't feel like the developers are taking the pee out of you.

I can see the game being nominated for game of the year and it's only Feb.

Really looking forward to Horizon Zero Dawn coming very soon.

Loved that game! One of the first story-driven FPS games I really understood and played/enjoyed from start to finish. I remember having the only decent laptop when it launched during college years, and everyone crowding round taking turns at it :D and I carried my desktop PC into the living room to play it (via S-Video!) on the big TV.

A very relevant game given current events!

Well, I may have finally hit my fill of Destiny for awhile. There's not much left for me to do, I'm only missing one item in the game, and it seems that the game won't give it to me. Now I pretty much hop on when I am bored to help players do the raid or something and that's it. So I finally got around to Rise of Tomb Raider, which I enjoyed as much as the first game. Now I've started Nioh, because a few friends are hard core Dark Souls players. Been enjoying it, but I suck at it, and the game can be brutal.

I'm also looking at For Honor, which to me like was said earlier, has clunky controls. I've been watching Twitch streams though where others don't seem to have the problem, so it must be me. Damn though, the game does look good!

I've also got Horizon Dawn pre ordered. I'm a sucker for any game that will let you use a bow & arrow.

Holding off on Horizon Dawn until I see some reviews. It looks beautiful and the developers are using checkerboard rendering for graphics, basically if you have a 4K/HDR supported TV, it will take advantage of the latest graphics.

There is a lot of hype and it looks promising. If all goes with user reviews, then it will be my next purchase in two weeks.

Also, the game map released, its huge. Similar to the size of Witcher III map.

I finished Wolfenstein The New Order yesterday. Real solid single player FPS. Some parts were really disturbing. I'll probably play through it again at some point and save the other guy this time.

Started on Metroid Fusion tonight on Wii U VC, just a couple minutes so far. I can already understand some reviewers frustrations that the game is too linear. I doubt I'll mind the game telling me exactly where to go as I've had to resort to maps in the previous Metroid games I've played (besides Prime with its good in-game map and waypoints) after I've gotten myself hopelessly lost!

I'm on Chapter 5 of Wolfenstein New Order. Smooth gameplay with very little stutter or frame rate issues. Story line is decent thus far. Graphics are good for a three year old game.

There are 16 chapters, which is impressive. Most games don't lead past 12 chapters anymore.

Still playing Nioh which can only be a good sign.

However tried DS3 last night and realised whist games are very similar, it's completely different mechanics and I was promptly slaughtered over and over again. Amazing how playing one of these a lot messes you up for the other :)

Backlog time!

Rayman Origins on PS3. I'm pretty far in, but never finished it. And I have Rayman Legends waiting for me after that.

Love those games - the best Mario games that Nintendo never made! ;)

Rayman Legends is one of few games I will have bought on 4 systems when the Switch version launches. Indicative that even after 3 play throughs I would still buy and add it to my collection. One of the best 2D platformers ever created period.

Horizon Zero Dawn is getting stellar reviews. But somehow, it doesn't quite appeal to me, I can't really say why. Something about the setting I guess. Was never interested in Far Cry Primal either, thought I loved all the previous games in the series.

I couldnt agree more.

For me it looks like a ton of running from here to there and then mix in the fact this girl is shooting metal beasts with a bow and arrow is very odd to me.

I will pick it up next year when its like 50% off but right now, meh.

Those were my thoughts I posted on a previous post in the thread. It looks graphically outstanding. And I know it's using the latest checkerboard for 4K. And the reviews have been good like you said, but I don't know if I can justify the gameplay if it's for me or not yet. I think I'll still wait for a few user reviews to see what most were saying before I purchase. But otherwise, I see it being a success.

Finished Metroid Fusion last night. Probably my 2nd favorite Metroid so far after Prime. A good mix of exploration, action, story. I enjoyed the cutscenes throughout the game, thought they were a nice addition for the story as I wasn't expecting anything else besides beginning and ending cutscenes in a Metroid game. Could have maybe used some new types of power ups but no big deal. Pretty good boss fights except for the 2 security robot fights, those just annoyed me.

Metal Gear Solid V up next!

If your relying on metacritic user reviews for video games that's a bad idea. People there will give a good game a 0 for no reason.

Referencing Metacritic, they rated the game at 88%. The average score currently from other critics is 90% from other sites. And I source a number of reviewed sites before purchasing a game I'm unsure of, not just Metacritic. User reviews are just as important as critic reviews.

Yes they are I agree since it's coming from fellow gamers. I'm just saying metacritic user reviews can be hard to trust sometimes as well. Since some people just like to give bad scores for no reason, to make the user review worse than it really should be.

Reviewing a 100 hour rpg after only playing it a hour I never understood either, which some people actually do.

Gravity Rush 2! Starts out a little slow, but it's picking up quickly. So cool Kat's going to get the 2B outfit from Nier: Automata as DLC!

Spent some time with the Day of the Tentacle remaster last night. One of my all time favorites, and they put a lot of love into this version.

Only downside is that I know the game too well, so I can pretty much race through it.
