It took almost a FULL day, but i got current Pale Moon 32.0.1 built on VoidPPC 32-bit. My poor 12" powerbook G4 spent 1122 minutes (18.7 hours!) to build it, but it was worth it. Their latest release has huge web compatabilty improvements (without the need of polyfill extensions) that now allow github to work again, discord web to work again, etc etc. I built it with official branding for myself, but i might zip up my source and message @xeno74 and have him rebuild with unofficial branding if he's up to it. I just can't justify putting this machine through that again. Lol.

BTW, do I need to install MacOS9 before MacOS X (any version)?
No, you just need to make sure to include "Mac OS 9 Drivers" when partitioning the drive in Disk Utility in OS X, otherwise OS 9 won't be able to see the partitions or boot from the drive. If the drive has already been partitioned without the drivers and you don't want to redo it all, you can add the drivers non-destructively.

cross compiling is definitely the way to go. ive been compiling basilisk on a i5 3320m in a hacky chroot and it takes about an hour. having working github again is nice.

i also managed to get firefox compiled, but it segfaults pretty quickly. i tired to run a debug build, but it ended up being around 3gb and wouldnt fit in ram

So, Canister refuses to boot from any CDs burnt, only AHT 1.2.7 works :D. (Installed 2Gb RAM, all 4 different vendors :) ). Question 1 - where can I obtain confirmed bootable images for G4 MDD (manufactured in 2002)?. Question 2 - how to set up verbose boot from OF shell? Question 3 - do I have to set jumpers to Master\Slave for IDE devices or Cable Select works too?

Have you tried using a different CD drive? Some are very selective of what they want to read, especially at this age.

Q1 - Have you looked through Macintosh Garden and/or Macintosh Repository yet? The Internet Archive may also be a good place to look.

Q2 - Is Command+V not working?

Booted MacOs 9.2 installer from CD. After launcher MacOS Installer application - got message that Software can not be installed on this computer. How can I partition drive? What are prerequisites for MacOS9 installation? (I'm starting to suspect some hardware troubles...)

This is how Canister "boots". Mac Os 9.2 Just hangs, all others - Kernel Panic. Minimize RAM? Check thermal Paste..?

Today, after a few weeks of on and off attempts, I decided to give up for a while on my G4 Blue and White 'Yikes' project. No matter what I do, I can't figure out how to get a stable build of OSX and OS9 to work on it.
It's essentially a G4 Yikes, as I swapped the motherboard and CPU together into a B&W case. Try as I might with previously confirmed and tested CD drives, I can't get it to boot properly off an OS 9 or OSX Tiger CD. I'm using an SSD for the installs, and tried running it on a SATA-ATA adapter and through a SATA PCI card, neither worked.
The only way I managed to install OSX was by doing it on my G4 Sawtooth, then swapping the SSD into the B&W. This allows it to boot, maybe once if lucky, then it goes back to a bunch of errors and crashes. Sometimes I get a grey blocked symbol, sometimes I don't even get to the logo, and sometimes it boots but may crash at any moment. Verbose mode sometimes says blocked IOATA controller or something.
It would be nice if it would just work. At one point I thought the Ram was causing problems, but I can't guarantee it. No idea what is truly causing the problem. One thing's for sure, the B&W and Yikes board were never truly intended for OSX.
I actually used to have a working OS9 SSD install running on the SATA PCI card. It was very stable on this machine and felt great with the Radeon 9200. Sadly I wiped it, and ever since I can't get OS9 to boot in any capacity.
