BTW, guys. may be a stupid question. May be someone knows about GOPHER server with mac abandonware\Installation Images\ a so on? Or may be somebody here can make such thing? In modern overbloated Web - it can be useful, if I understand what I read about gopher protocol, correctly..?

You can use the OverbiteWX plug-in for a Mozilla browser, including more recent Firefox, to view gopher protocol server content.

As for running your own gopher server daemon, there’s a relatively current open-source project called gophernicus.

Ok, got around to adding cobalt blue LED to my Powermac G5. The led strip I bought was sent with the wrong tip (6.5mm barrel jack) so I cobbled together 12v & ground molex to a 4.5mm plug to power the strip and voila, it turned on. I split power from the optical drive. Being LED I thought the 3.3v would work but not enough juice.

Im pretty happy with how it looks although at extreme angles to the front, you can see the strip which is pretty bright. I saw where someone else used opaque tubing around the strip (I didn’t have any) to diffuse at that angle and it would be a worthy step if you have some. All in I’m happy - cost me $6 bucks and some junk junkie bits & I like how it showcases the thermal zone guts.

Again, a flurry of activity from Protracker on my Powerbook resulting in another EP of material uploaded to Bandcamp.
Through a lens of Amiga nostalgia, this simple (but brilliant) program has really reactivated my musical creativity and in a direction I'm not really familiar with, plus of course turns the old Powerbook (still clocked down to 800Mhz to hush the fan!) into a formidable tracker workhorse :)

Very nice! That's been a lovely treat for my ears this morning. :D

Pretty neat intertextual homage to the yesteryears of British TV. I remember that title card with the timer counting down till the broadcast began - presumably to give the teacher enough time to tell the class to be quiet and pay attention. :D

TodayI took a look at an august 2007 mac mag CD. It had an logo creator by Laughing Bird Software. Had a look at their web site and theyve gone beyond just logo making since then.

Also thought Id take another look at the T2 distribution. Odd thing I was counting on burning it to a CD on my iBook. Theres a PPC download and a PPC6432download. The later is under 700 MB but the PPC one is like 900 I think it was...so cant be burned to a 700 MB cd..?? And I expect the 6432 is really for G5 macs. (Did try it but got a memory error message.)

Then found a more later version with includes firefox. I was thinking - that could be used just for going online... but its not a live distribution... its an install.
But going to take another look and tinker with that idea.

Today i built the unbranded version of Pale Moon 32.1.0 for 32-bit powerpc Linux (Void glibc version). It might also work on newer distros like Debian 11/Sid, Fienix, etc. The download is linked on my blog (see signature).

Ok, got around to adding cobalt blue LED to my Powermac G5...

...I knew the G5 had something nuclear.

I've been "ricing" :
"Rice" is a word that is commonly used to refer to making visual improvements and customizations on one's desktop. It was inherited from the practice of customizing cheap Asian import cars to make them appear to be faster than they actually were - which was also known as "ricing". Here on /r/unixporn , the word is accepted by the majority of the community and is used sparingly to refer to a visually attractive desktop upgraded beyond the default.
... a PB Ti 867Mhz running Tiger 10.4.11 with Shapeshifter and Amora theme, + a bunch of other haxies , fun fun.
Found one that can hide the menu bar :

And make it visible when cursor goes up the screen or with a keystroke :

Also used Visor to have a pulldown terminal window :

And was satisfied the DarkWeb icon fit so well with the theme, made one more screenshot :

Dang it, drone..and I gave my G5 iMac away..to some one who uses it simply for playing DVDs...wot was I thinking?!
..especially now I've spent more time looking at available graphics software.

That is one populated dock..wots the 3rd one from the left..the little monitor one?

Yesterday, had a go at making a back up file of a leopard OS disk, on my iBook..as its DVD reader still works fine. Gonna see if I can get it to boot from a USB stick on my 17inch Intel iMac..that has a faulty DVD drive.

I also came across a web site where a joker claimed that after leopard some changes occurred leading to failures of cd/DVD drives. Doesn't seem to be a common theory but gonna see.

It's an icon I made for Protracker - it's an eMac :)
Oh..you're into icon making too!!
It's looks rather good.
Do you favour any particular graphic software?
I was looking at 'icon maker' by laughing bird software..more like a word/image manipulation app.
And the icon maker in haiku ..which I found tricky to use. Do like their icon theory though..or design criteria.

Oops - I think it's 'Logo maker' rather than icon..by laughing bird.

Finally installed Tiger at Canister (used 4 CD set, minimal install) :). Now trying to update - Combined update and other looks like hanged at "Running Update Installer Script". Remaining time: 4 minutes, but progress line don`t move at all. Is it safe to reboot forcefully?

Reinstalled OS X Tiger and updated the OS to current. Tested the system to ensure it was functioning. Attempted to access MacRumors but couldn't establish a secure connection with Safari. The Apple home page was surprisingly readable with such an old browser.

Obligatory, boring screen shot with nothing interesting.
