I have my trusty 2018 iPad Pro, and I don’t plan on upgrading.
The new iPads look amazing, but my current iPad does exactly what I want it to do.
What about you?
I have a 4th Generation Wi-Fi Only (2020/A14) iPad Air that I don't plan on upgrading. If I get another 10.9/11/11.1-inch iPad, it'll be because Apple finally discontinued the iPad mini and not to directly replace this iPad.
I have a 6th Generation (2021/A15) WiFi+Cellular iPad mini (that has largely replaced said 4th Generation iPad Air). When and if the 7th Generation iPad mini comes out, I'll probably upgrade to it and use this one to try other carriers (I'm on Verizon and I want to see if my other local carriers are now better)
I have a 3rd Generation (2018/A12X) Wi-Fi Only 12.9-inch iPad Pro. I was originally considering replacing it with an Apple Certified Refurbished 5th Generation (2021/M1) Wi-Fi Only 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but I wanted to wait and see about the "13-inch" iPad Air (seeing as the only real allure to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is that it was the only iPad that had a keyboard attachment that I didn't find cramped), especially since FaceTime calls with a keyboard attachment on 12.9-inch iPad Pros 6th Generation and older is...not fun. While said Air is alluring, its first party keyboard option very much isn't to me. That battery drain is a no-sale for me. I'm also not about to spend $1600 on the new iPad Pro with a keyboard on the gamble that the battery drain issue hasn't been fixed and that the extreme thinness of the new iPad coupled with the new display won't lead to reliability issues. Suffice it to say, the device that looks most appealing as a replacement to my 3rd Generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+. Though the screen is technically smaller, the aspect ratio seems better suited to media consumption, which is another thing I value doing on my iPad Pro.
In short, the iPad mini is the only iPad in my arsenal with any kind of clear upgrade path. Either they release a new one and I upgrade to it, or they don't and I wait until it no longer gets updates and then I move to the 10.9/11-inch iPad Air.
