Saw 'The Campaign' and 'The Bourne Legacy' this weekend.

I don't really agree with the negative reviews 'TBL' received, if you're on the fence about it- go see it.

I feel like the 'TC' could have been a lot funnier if they had assumed the audience was smarter. I felt the whole film was on the cusp of something wittier and more intelligent the entire time and they just lacked the balls to go for it.

100% Watch the series first. The movie could be considered an OVA for the series.

What other anime do you watch ? Do you have Netflix streaming (they have a pretty good anime collection) ?

Thank's, Plutonius! I just recently started with Anime. So mainly the Classics up to now. I own but haven't watched the GitS - Stand Alone series..but am a bit afraid of new GGI stuff I believe they added..Evangelion, Heavy Metal (it's made in the US, isn't it), Vampire Hunter..if you can recommend something I'd really appreciate it!

And Netflix?! 'Sorry, Netflix is not available in your country... yet'
Sorry, Germany here..we still do have the Middle Ages here.

Heavy Metal (the movie) could be considered a classic and it was made in Canada.

Do you have any movie streaming in Germany ?

I'll PM you on the anime suggestions.

Nothing worth considering and legal that I know of...we're FAR behind. Spotify started this year I think, Youtube is 'censored' pretty much too. Really, it's like the Middle Ages around here + all the people looking grey and grimy too.

But anyway, I'm more the hunter/collector type, so I just do my little research and buy them. I do have a lot of discs flying around though...feel free to PM some suggestions!

How did you like the Heavy Metal 2000 flic? Seemed cheesy in the trailers when it was released, but I haven't seen it.

I liked Heavy Metal 2000 (movie) but it's a completely different style then the original Heavy Metal (movie). I also enjoy most movies I watch so you may or may not like it.

Battleship, what a turd of movie - wasted my time watching a promotion film for the US Navy.

Enjoyed (mindless fun):
- Safe house
- The Raid Redemption (A+)
- Get the gringo

My new classics:
- Le Separation
- Incendies

One of my all time favorites "Fargo" Keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time! The cast is fist rate, wouldn't you agree?

For the type of movie it was, Fargo was excellent imo. :)

Watched Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 last night. Mostly a snore with some action. I remember the hype about "oh the birth scene was so brutal"- not. And they could have told this part of the story in about 1 hour which reinforces the notion this is just a mechanism to wring more money out of fans. Happy we only spent $1.99 to rent it. :)

Last night I watched "God Bless America". OMG.

I'm sure I'm part of the intended audience, but even I was astounded at their over the top portrayal of Americans. It made me laugh, and cry, and think about life in general... Or, it entertained me for a bit.

It's worth another watch. For me, it's one of those rare movies that I can watch again and again and again.

Plus, y'know, Mila Kunis.

I can watch that movie over and over, it is so funny. I just watched The Lucky One, and I thought it was decent. I wasnt a fan of the acting, maybe the directing more so, but it wasnt bad. I saw Bachelorette earlier, and I thought it was pretty dumb.

Human Centipede 2; thoroughly enjoyed it. Just keeping my fingers crossed for a third movie.

Isn't he charming?

What's the plot- mad scientist, freak of nature, or other? The name has always turned me off.

The charming man you see in the photo becomes inspired by the original movie and then attempts to make his own Human Centipede (12 people) with some handy household tools.

I think I would end up banned if I went into further detail.

Its pretty bad but if someone loves extremes I recommend "A Serbian Film" I dont think there is a much more grotesque and completely disturbing movie like that out there.... yet.

I heard about that film a while back. Maybe I'll watch it tonight.

I objected when horror films for lack of better ideas, turned into visual, gruesome, cruelty, torture shock fests. I'd pick a movie like House on Haunted Hill (the remake), The Ring or The Grudge, over Hostile, Chain Saw whatever, or the Hills Have Eyes, any day. :)

But for some reason I can stand to watch a film like Final Destination because it's death after the victims, not deranged people hurting others. ;)

I finally watched The Hunger Games last night. It was better than I expected.

At times I felt that it was made for people who already read the book, and I had to pause it and explain a bit of background/context to my wife, who didn't understand the importance/relevance of this or that.

I was surprised that my wife liked it, as she typically hates movies that aren't rom-coms or crappy.;)

My wife and I also watched The Hunger Games yesterday. She saw it at the theater. This was my first time and we had both read the trilogy. It was a faithful adaption of the book and well done. I'm always impressed when a screenplay complements the book so well. However, I was disappointed that they did not go with the spoiler>> werewolf type mutes, which as I recall walked on two legs, with the eyes of the dead tribute. I also expected the tracker jackers to be larger, more menacing <<end spoiler. But for the former, I realize this could have been hard to portray and for the later, maybe the budget did not allow for it. :)

I realize this will not happen no matter how much I wish it, but I do wish they would combine the 2nd and 3rd books into the last and final movie.

Currently watching Lars Von Trier's black comedy The Kingdom. It's actually a 4 hour mini series, but it started him off as a film director.

Must say that I haven't seen "Seven", but I recall that it got great reviews when it first came out. However, "Pulp Fiction"is rightly considered a classic; terrific soundtrack, superb script, first class cast. Actually, a great movie.

I could never get the fuss over Quentin Tarrentino. All I saw was a pastiche of trashy and obscure (read cool) cultural references smothered in senseless violence. It struck me as a rip off of Robert altman's Nashville in its structure of interweaving stories.

While i'm in the mood...... I needed some diversion the other week so attended a screening of David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. I haven't been as bored since I saw John Huston's The Dead. These types of unentertaining edifying films should have some sort of "unsuitable for diversion" warning.

Some films I have enjoyed and found edifying.

Dr stranglove
Lord Of the Flies.
Seconds
Magnolia
The Player
The Tin Drum
Perfume
Walkabout
Bliss
Name of the Rose
Space Odyssey 2001

I enjoyed The Dark Knight Returns, but it certainly had no socially redeeming value.
