Report back I wonder what your opinion is i couldn't watch another thrilling movie for days as it shocked me pretty bad and i am not one to whom this happens often... prepare a large bowl of popcorn and have fun :)

Just finished watching the film, and quite frankly I was very disappointed. After hearing about it from friends and online reviews I was expecting something much much more disturbing and stomach-turning. I'm afraid The Human Centipede 2 still holds the trophy.

On a side note, considering the plot of the film evolved around pornography, there were not enough boobs.

Now I'm watching The Amazing Spider-man movie. It's superb movie of the year.
The movie script and cast is very nice. Movie action is really great. The lead actor Andrew Garfield (studying in high school) doing awesome job in this movie. Now I'm big fan of Andrew Garfield. Must watch this movie..........

I could never get the fuss over Quentin Tarrentino. All I saw was a pastiche of trashy and obscure (read cool) cultural references smothered in senseless violence. It struck me as a rip off of Robert altman's Nashville in its structure of interweaving stories.

I haven't been as bored since I saw John Huston's The Dead. These types of unentertaining edifying films should have some sort of "unsuitable for diversion" warning.

While I'm not a fan of everything Quentin Tarantino made, I must say that I liked both Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown - I loved the quick (and irreverent) wit, various back-stories of the characters, clever editing and sharp story-telling, amazing soundtracks, great dialogue, and the fact that they were a sort of spaghetti western set in contemporary times (I'm a fan of spaghetti westerns, the good ones).....but each to his or her own...

Re the movie The Dead, actually, it is based (pretty accurately) on what is regarded (by the cognoscenti/literati) as the best short story (of the same name) written by James Joyce. (It is found in his collection of short stories - entitled "Dubliners").

Personally, I think the original story a haunting and elegiac classic, and the film adaptation (filmed on location in the Georgian house on the quays of the river Liffey in Dublin, Ireland, where the short story was actually set) is a faithful (and authentically bitter sweet) adaptation of the story in question. But again, each to his or her, own......

Working my way through both Psych and Monarch of the Glen, yet one more time. Still, the Monarchs were only good through season 5...

Since the whole trainsystem tends to instantaneously break down on a regular basis within Germany when temperatures hit the 36ºC mark, I had a rather long and adventurous trip and fortuntaly carried my MacBookAir + movie library alongside...:D

So I finally finished Jin Roh - The Wolf Brigade, a very dark and nourish Anime and a quite clever take upon the Little Red Riding Hood motive (Rotkäppchen und der Wolf). Highly recommended. Pluto, do you know that one? Not a lot of direct action, but when it hits, it's hitting strong.

Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust. Not as good as it's 80s predecessor - which was expected as that one is briliant - but very entertaining and far from a cheap remake. Neither more nor less. I had to be careful about that curious 8 year-old trying to spy upon my screen, though.

I saw The Expendables. The first one. Almost no plot, but plenty of violence, explosions, guns, uber machismo and impossible fight scenes. The only thing missing was a plethora of scantily clad female hotties, there for no apparent reason.

I'll probably watch it again...

Currently watching Snow White and the Huntsman. So far I like it. Ms Theron could be my dirty queen anytime!

Watched the new Woody Allen at the cinema yesterday...:(

well, at least the (glossy) prospects of Rome were excellent.

I saw the new "Clash of the Titans". Of course, it didn't have as much of the claymation goodness of the '80's version, and it was clearly a different take, but I found it enjoyable anyway.

Didn't know there was an earlier version of The Hitchhicker's Guide..have to check it out. Didn't like the last version at all and switched off really early.

Watched my first Cagney movie so far Angels with Dirty Faces; terrific movie and I honestly rate it higher than Casablanca (both Curtiz movies). Don't know why I never heard of this one before.

Second movie was Ghost in the Shell..was my first time seeing it and think I'll watch it soon again. Like it even much more than Akira.

Now you might be able to understand "Don't Panic"s post :D.

I liked the original movie much better then the remake.

Of course I understood Don't Panic's post and always have; he and I share a mutual admiration - almost reverence - for such things. Such was my reverence for it, I can say that the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy was almost my personal bible for a while; it was certainly one of the funniest, most inventive and original books I recall reading as an undergrad.

We (some friends and I) used to quote sections to each other......and I am still embarrassingly word perfect in my recall of some of them......

Aw, twietee, what it is to be young. You know, the world is full of wonderful things that remain to be discovered by those as yet unaware of them. And, for the most part (with a few, a very few, rather striking exceptions) subsequently made sequels usually show limited imagination, and lack of creative vision, and, as a rule, lack much of the wit, and sheer inventive originality of whatever the original was.

I saw the original (British) TV series (based on the book, which, in turn was based on a truly legendary BBC radio series) in the early 1980s. Sublime. Brilliant. Hilarious. Mind-blowing. Or, at least I thought so at the time.

So, I have the book - the original and all of the sequels. And yes, such is my admiration for the original version, I also have a double LP (that is vinyl, pre-CD, era for the youngsters on this thread) which is, in essence, the original radio recording of the series. When I return home, I might just dust it down and play it again.....

:D

True words of wisdom. Although I wouldn't consider myself that young..technically at least. Sadly we all have to learn the sequel-lesson quite early in life.
But of course you're right, one can jump from here to there, grab the best/most interesting things and thoughts available and move to the next 'apple-tree' while you're young. But one can get lost, to some extend inevitable I'd say, doing so and waste a lot of precious time. It's nice and for me the essence of life once you know what you want to refine and define up to perfection. It's like shooting through space and time within a rocket! But that's clearly off-topic.

Sorry for the double post. Two things I'd like to add: First: please do not forget to discover the wonderful Night of The Hunter movie we were talking about in the other thread. Wonderful things can be discovered at all ages and I'm sure you will appreciate it a lot. The more I think about it the more I would consider it as my personal no1 - just saw it again some days ago. Also the Mallé movie.

Second: I already noted The Prisoners (?) in my wishlist. :D

isn't that sheer beauty and very theatrically?
