Unless you've lived under a rock... A harsh tale, but the worst is yet to come and lets all hope the impossible never occurs...

Indeed is very much their story, perfectly staged & shot. A Post-nuclear-war drama centering on a small group of survivors that kicked off an entire genre in science-fiction films. In some way or another, can all be traced back to this seminal film from 1951 in which five people deal with the possibility they are the only human beings left alive...

I’ve not heard of this! So it’s good? In that department, we watched a Hitchcock film called Rope, that I’d not heard of either. We started that, but it did not grab me, not helping I was tired and falling asleep. 😳

The Bedford Incident (1965)

If your going to watch anything on the list watch this. The Bedford Incident is powerful, poignant and on point. Richard Widmark & Sidney Poiter are at the top of their game and very much complement one another in this epic nuclear fuelled thriller. I make no bones about it, this is a five star film and one not to be missed...

This movie punches the air out of you, at least it did me when I first watched it. I just didn’t see it coming.

A softer version of the same tale... Not close, but nothing much is, well barring The War Game which is in a league of it's own and was banned by the UK's gutless politician's for decades...

Ok, Threads and The War Game, have to see if these are streamable...

The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961)

One of the UK's first X rated film's 😏 A very decent watch to this very day and well worth your time, Janet Munro's still a beauty to behold, sadly taken all too young...

This one comes well recomended...👍👍

Threads should be, The War Game I'm not so sure. They wanted it buried eons ago, the film has only become ever more relevant over the passing years. Produced by the BBC when it actually had some journalistic morals, not the sock puppet it's become...

Beware, Threads is a really raw, intense movie. You probably won’t see the contemporary war threats the same way… BTW, there’s an easter egg hidden in the movie, but it’s easy to spot.

Okay, now I must find the other two remaining movies, The Day After and The War Game…

I’ll report back when I watch them!

If you can source The War Game, best to buckle up as it makes Threads seem like a day out at Disney...UK.gov had it banned for decades yet it's one of the most skilful & thought provoking documentary films ever to be produced...🤔

The Divide (2011)
1716858822637.png

Survivors of a nuclear attack are grouped together for days in the basement of their apartment building, where fear and dwindling supplies wear away at their dynamic. Better than one might expect Lauren German stands out amongst the crowd, equally the rest of the cast are on point. The reveal while not unexpected is still a jaw dropper to this day...

I’m at work. I watched the first one yesterday on my 65in at home. I was gonna watch it at home to at some point though.
M4 iPad has tremendous potential, Apple has vision. Sadly it's enslaved by the shareholder and weak management who are only concerned with their bonuses. With the right OS the iPad would take right off, sadly it's stuck with IOS due to Apple's greed & weakness.

Yeah, they could do better is blatantly obvious. My old base model 2016 Acer Switch 5 has more utility as it has a fully fledged OS not one designed for a phone. Sorry it's not personal, but it is what it is...

Hell of a film mind...

The War Game (1965)
1716900481668.png

"The War Game is a 1966 British pseudo-documentary film that depicts a nuclear war and its aftermath. Written, directed and produced by Peter Watkins for the BBC, it caused dismay within the BBC and also within government, and was subsequently withdrawn before the provisional screening date of 6 October 1965. The corporation said that "the effect of the film has been judged by the BBC to be too horrifying for the medium of broadcasting..."

Failsafe at age 11, made an impression on me. That in addition to Sit Under Your Desk And Kiss Your Ass Goodbye Drills in elementary school.

Great film.

I did duck-and-cover under my desk in the first year of elementary school, but then it became a tornado drill where we sought cover in the hallway. Apparently tornadoes give one more warning than nuclear detonations. One of my schools had a bona fide bomb shelter. When it wasn't needed any more (no shelter protects one from a fusion bomb) the school officials opened it up like a time capsule and found nothing but WWII-vintage Saltine crackers and a fresh water tank. No toilets, TP, bunks, blankets or first aid kits. Grim.

Gentlemen! You can't fight in here! This is the war room!

I live in one of the few places in Western civilisation that does not fluoridate the water. Why? Because apparently many where I live feel it will contaminate our precious bodily fluids. I kid you not.
