The Brutalist was very good and well acted.

It did have an intermission.

Sidenote on Bethesda, Fallout 4, and Starfield, game talk. For it’s time, Fallout 4 is a most wonderful exercise in escapism and the interactions with NPC‘s (non-player characters for anyone not familiar with the term) was good enough, it got me hooked on having a companion, or multiple NPC companions in an adventure where you play by yourself, but you feel like you have company. I love it when they confide in me their problems and ask for help. And as unrealistic as it is just by virtue of spending time with you, they grow to like and love you. In my opinion, this is superior to a co-op or online game where (human) tourists pollute the environment. 😉 In the solo game, you alone make the world what it is.

If you make it to Starfield, give a shout or read my rants about it in the Starfield thread (the Gaming form). Bethesda’s failure was producing a new game that still relied on a decade old conversation matrix from the F4 era, and today it comes across as so awkward, and a hindrance to immersion. “How’s it going?” Me: “Oh shut up!” 😊😉
I think that this video describes your feelings. It’s a long one but definitely worth a watch.

Speak No Evil (2024)- Nice thriller. An unsuspecting family becomes the prey of another couple. My critique is that the slow burn feels dragged out.

I recommend watching the original. The American version is nice, but it completely overhauls the main concept so that they can do the “hero” thing. The original is one of the best movies I’ve seen last year.

Everyone from my parents generation are just about gone. :(

Mutual suicide or gas leak kinda accident?

It is being investigated at this stage, but there appear to be two accidents.
First, Gene Hackman seems to have slipped, fallen and injured himself in the bathroom??
Second Betsy Arakawa appears to have knocked over and been injured by a gas heater.
Anything else is speculation at this point.

Hadn't seen it for a while. Couldn't find the disk so had to re-order. This 40th anniversary edition is visually stunning even in 1080p. Movie is just as entertaining and jaw dropping as it was when released 50 years ago.

Nice, I posted here 2 weeks ago watched it.
For me this was part of my teen formation years. 1979, I was part of a movie theater cleaning crew for 4 months. We cleaned 2 cineplexes then, rotated cleaning .. yea Rocky Horror, in its hey day. Just surreal now looking back at it thru my 62 year old life lens. Week after week for months it played Friday and Saturday nights.
I hear every word of this in my mind.

Science fiction... double feature/Frank has built and... lost his creature Darkness has conquered... Brad and Janet/The servants gone to... a distant planet/ Whoa-oh-oh-ohh/At the late-night... double feature... picture show/l wanna go/Ah-ohh/To the late-night... double feature... picture show.

Throwing toast and rice....those were the days.

BTW, Kathleen Kennedy is retiring from Lucasfilm this year.

Big shoes to fill, and no doubt a tough job.
Best thing to happen to Star Wars. She has put out non stop garbage and basically ruined the whole franchise for many people who get tired of every thing that comes out save for a small select few (Andor).

Hopefully they find someone who actually cares about the universe they are writing for and is committed to story telling and not identity politics from the back end of production to the front.

I watched A Complete Unknown on the weekend and wow, what a movie! Generally not a bio pic fan, but I was a big Bob Dylan fan in my younger years. Amazing acting and singing, truly capturing the style and tone of Bob Dylan. Great casting all around, Edward Norton was perfect as Pete Seeger. Highly recommended, especially if you like the time period and Bob Dylan's music.
