A very good indie spy film.

The Sound of Music (1965)- This is a gold standard of musicals, a meaningful story, and every song has a clear unambiguous, impactful, musically emotional message delivered in human voices. Great accomplishes in cinema give me shivers of emotion, when I realize I’m seeing something special. The songs are all nothing short of genius. I also realize that I have a connection to mid 20th century ideas of entertainment. 😁

We have also watched it recently, followed by a good youtube doco on the family, which sadly didn't mention the decade some of them spent in PNG, training a choir.

Check out The Saint 1997

The Doors (1991)

A film to have watched on the big screen with your lady of the day.

Heat (1995)

Another standout that is a must watch. That said Val Kilmer was a prima donna and significantly helped to create a level of chaos on The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) which I think branded him difficult actor to work with. Nevertheless Val was an extremely talented actor and should be respected for his work.

Red Notice (2021)- Action, comedy, heist flick. If you like Dwane Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, and looking for a light action film with some decent action, humorous dialogue, a little too much Ryan Reynolds, but with a level of over the top slickness that removes any tension or concern for the characters and continuous violent action resulting in no deaths, with a bonus over the top Indiana Jones Crystal Skull style car chase, and maybe one real surprise, this is for you. ☺️

The Train (1964)- Great movie, based on a true story, but if I understand it, the movie aggrandized the actual history a bit. Nevertheless, an excellent story as is. Burt Lancaster and supporting cast are great in this, but he lacks a French accent. 🤔

Watched Borderlands yesterday.

I tried to like it... but it was an overly predictable, derivative mess of a movie.

Have no idea who thought it was a good idea to cast Cate Blanchett, Kevin Heart and Jamie Lee Curtis in this. All of them accomplished actors I've enjoyed in several movies over the years, but in this one they looked about as out of place as humanly possible.

Don't think Edgar Ramírez, as the main villain, actually added anything to the movie, either.

4/10

Truly I’m 100% with you!
Watched this 25+ times easily over my life, say 5+ with my kids over the years.

Had the fortune to visit Germany and Austria in September 2005 doing supplier audits, 3 weeks and 2 weekends. We visited the actual hill where Julie Andrew’s sang ”the hills are alive, with the sound of music”. A local took us there.

I joined Facebook 2009, posted those in 2013 for some reason.

In the middle of Sisu (starring "John Wick's Dad") and it's rather good cinema, albeit distinctly 'gory'.

I definitely abhor violence, yet find (at the same time) that I am distinctly drawn to it....

He actually lacks an accent, entirely ;)
That’s what has been said to me, people don’t what what part of the US I’m from, but they know I’m not from the South or the NE, or Minnesota or Texas, but I’d still be called a yank in Europe… I think. 🙃
Yet, I’ve always held it against US actors who play a part as a foreigner, but think they are so significant, they don’t have to pick up the accent. Leo Decaprio jumps to mind in his 3 Musketeers foray.

Apart from actors like who just sound like themselves (KeanuR, NickC, JohnT, et al.), I find my greatest enjoyment with those who are fluent in multiple languages, and Speak to their own Mystery :)
