Hi Apple fans. I would ask to you about display of IPhone 8 Plus. Is it quality? (Color, sharpness)? Is it a big difference in quality between IPhone X?
THX

Thank you. Precisely. If an argument gets made that the X is "too expensive", then one must accept the fact that since it's Apple's best selling product every week since it was released that for millions of people, and many people in this forum, it's "not expensive at all". It's crazy to accuse someone who has no problem with the cost of being some sort of 'show off' when what's also going on are people complaining about the cost and giving examples of their hardship. If we're personalizing our commentary on the price of the 8 Plus and the X with our own experiences, it goes in both directions.
Hang on a minute, you seem to be missing a lot of context here. You’re not the only iPhone X owner on Mac Rumors and nobody has a general problem with people buying the iPhone they prefer as its freedom of choice and nobodies business what we each spend our money on. Don’t try and skew this into people being critical of that because you’re way off the mark and you know it.

You are however the only X owner on Mac Rumors that has claimed by having this phone it gives you status and allows others to perceive how wealthy you are. That’s bollocks and that is what dozens of people here have tackled you in since mid December. You’ve repeatedly boasted about your cars, home, income because you think it makes your opinion more valid here and you’ve repeatedly suggested people who don’t own the X are poor despite not knowing any facts surrounding that. It’s this self professed elitism that has made you stand out, nobody else.

You have created this whole class debate as you are the only X owner here who boasts about being wealthy. Nobody else feels the need to do it or bring it into the discussion. This needed to be stated for context.

Couldn't agree with you more. Problem is, you posted on the wrong forum. I don't think everyone here wears a Rolex. Me being a guy who owns a Rolex (if you're a fan, GMT Master 2 BLNR), totally get you.

I've used both phones and to me, the X is a better phone in every way, except battery life. It's down by about an hour. Not a deal breaker. Face ID is way better. Guestures are better. It's a more refined iPhone. The ones that say otherwise are the ones who can't spend "$200" extra... and that says a lot.

I think he's the only owner here who doesn't publicize his life expenses to justify why he didn't buy an X.

I doubt everyone here wears a Rolex, that’s true. Some of us might though but I’m struggling to see how this is relevant to a topic about an iPhone?

So are you another person who claims those who haven’t bought an X are those who ‘can’t afford one’? I mean really?

I’ve owned both and the 8 Plus display is sharper and bigger, but doesn’t have as good contrast and cannot show true black like the X can.

I think True Tone looks better on the 8 Plus (too yellow on the X), and the display is overall easier on the eyes (no PWM flicker). The X also suffers from colour shift (like all OLED displays) when angled.

On the other hand, the X is a bit easier to see outside and its contrast and ability to show true black is stunning, especially when watching video in the dark.

There are pros and cons to both.

I don’t publicise my life expenses to justify why I haven’t bought an X either.

You’re fine with him bragging about being a millionaire and taking the mick out of the less fortunate though are you?

Thank you, Nisaja. Glad to see I'm not the only sane one here on this subject. I'm tired of being labeled as some show-off, especially since I don't go around accusing others of playing the "victim". If they are allowed to talk about the #1 reason to dislike the X being on the grounds of "can't afford it", we certainly can talk about how we can. Mind boggling how some don't get it.

He is literally a paragon of the whole new money cliché. I genuinely can't believe he isn't just winding people up to be honest.

I personally prefer LCD to oled, due to the pentile sub pixel layout. A lot of people say they can't see a difference, but I can. Best thing is to look at both in person if that's a possibility for you?

Enough with the nonsense already. Seriously, just put me on 'ignore' and stop inconveniencing the rest of the group because you judge me as something I'm not. And when I talk about status and perception I am talking about what Apple's marketing team is doing as a brand, not necessarily what I myself subscribe to. The notch exists, in part, to make the X stand out from the crowd. It's $1200 pricepoint separates people along financial lines no differently than a BMW does to a Honda. These are facts, I'm just pointing it out. I happen to know a thing or two about marketing.

No, none that I can perceive anyway. I love my X but the OLED isn't something that makes a difference to my eyes, might as well be looking at LCD.

This is my last response to you. Put me on ignore and stop replying to my posts.

Except not every X owner fits a narrative as it’s a £1k phone not a £30k reps car. iPhones are owned by many demographics at the end of the day and owning an iPhone X wouldn’t make me appear any wealthier than I am already. I can respond to anybody I want btw, you are free to ignore me. I am free to challenge your opinion in a public discussion forum.

No, they're not. Does Ford put sales for the Focus and the F-150 together because they both start with the letter "F"?

Just because they share the number "8" doesn't mean they are the same thing. There are regular sized customers and there are plus sized customers and they are polar opposites. If Apple discontinued the regular sized iPhone and only offered a plus size, I'd buy up a few iPhone 7's to last me a decade.

Then provide their sales number separately for the iphone 8 and then 8 plus. Or how about the 7 and 7 plus if that helps? I'll wait till you can do that.

I have been following this thread for the past few days. I'm the guy who did the comparison between the 8 Plus and the X. I own both phones and I think I am more than suitable to say which is best... and that is the iPhone X.

Hate it to break it to you guys. I know this thread is about how the 8 Plus is better than the X, and the 8 Plus does have a few strong points. Mainly battery life. But overall, the X wins.

Who said the X is flawed? How exactly is it flawed?

Yes there is a notch. They had a choice. Have a massive forehead above the screen, or push at least the corners of the screen to the edges of the device. Apple did the right thing. I'd rather have this than have a forehead at the top.

Touch ID is not better than Face ID. Anyone who says it's better haven't used Face ID. I have sweaty palms and on average, Touch ID fails about 10 times a day. Guess how many times Face ID fails? Zero. Its incredible. As long as I'm in front of the phone, it NEVER fails. It feels so natural to just pick up the phone and start using it.

Someone on here said that the guestures suck. You know how easy it is to switch apps on the X? You just swipe across the home bar. You never have to bring up the multitasking menu. It's incredibly convenient, and you won't know how good it is until you use it.

Swiping up to close apps feel far more natural than pressing the home button. The guestures are so good, I couldn't go back to my 8 Plus. I rarely use it now. I keep swiping on the bottom of the screen. Lol.

The only thing I'm missing is the extra hour of battery life. But plugging it in for 30 mins solves that.

Whoever thinks the X is a failure and that it has "half baked tech", need to start using one. Give it 3 days. You won't go back to your 8 Plus.

I own both as well. and without a doubt that touch ID is better than Face ID. I have more failures with FaceID than I did with TouchID in a week.

A lot of reports have the X beating the Plus in battery life. With that, it really depends on the user though so it can vary. For me, I take it off the charger in the morning and put it on at night. I'd assume most people are the same. If it lasts all day, I don't feel like it's a negative to the experience at all.
BS, no way. I own both and the X battery life is terrible compared to the 8 plus. I have to sometimes charge my X half way during the day where I never had to do that with the 8 plus.

Maybe try rescanning your face? Mine works flawlessly. The only time it doesn't work is when I'm not directly in front of the phone.

Yeah the battery life is a little worse, but only by about an hour. Your phone probably had a rogue app running in the background. I always set up my phones as new so there's nothing messing up the battery life.

I was the biggest skeptic of Face ID on the planet after the keynote. Couldn't imagine anything better than my old friend Touch ID. It prevented me from getting excited about the X, I came within a whim of not staying awake on preorder night, I literally was going to sit this one out.

Decided to stay awake and take a chance. Hey, I could always return it after I hated it. Boy, was I wrong. Face ID is a gamechanger. Not just unlocking the phone, but signing into all those apps, especially banking apps that make you re-enter your credentials every month, now a thing of the past. I don't even think about security on my phone. It's that good.

No, there won't. There is no need. If you look at the photos, the X is handling everything the Plus is supposedly better at but without all that bezel and needless forehead and chin.

And before someone goes there, who watches movies on a phone anyway? It's 2018. You can buy a 40" HDTV for $199 with YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, Plex, all built right in. I don't know anyone who sits for 2 hours watching a full length movie on their smartphone. It's a use case that matters to a very small niche.

Plus is a dinosaur. X is the new Plus. It's not getting any larger than that. There's no need.
Just cause you find no need does not mean that Apple will not come out with an X plus don’t speak for Apple.

Yeah! I never expected Face ID to work this well either. But it does! Every single time. Even when my face is partially covered.

What I noticed is that with Touch ID, and with iCloud keychain enabled, websites that require logging in would have username and password fields already filled out. You just have to hit "login" and you're in. On the X, they're not filled out, it scans your face when you on a login page, and THEN fills them up. That's an extra layer of safety. Now I know my friend can't log into Facebook through safari. If I wanted to that on my 8 Plus, I'd have to turn off keychain.

I love being able to pick my phone up and just swipe right on a notification, without pressing the home button. Feels way more natural.

Definitely agree. And one of the underrated features of the iPhone X is that a mere tap anywhere on the screen wakes it up for either viewing a notification or immediate Face ID unlocking, it's so smooth and so fast and so effortless it really is the advance that Apple claimed it was and that I refused to believe until I tried it.

The downside is that my daughter has an antique iPhone 7 and I'm always tapping on the screen to wake it up and forget I have to reach for that clumsy home button. So glad it's gone.

Face ID will also be the reason I'll feel compelled to update my perfectly-fine-otherwise iPad Air II. I want the ease of launch, the ease of password management, and those great gestures.

I don't speak for Apple I speak for myself. There won't be an X Plus simply because it would be too expensive. If the X is $1,150 this mythical X Plus will be, what, $1,500? Price is the #1 reason people choose the 8 Plus over the X right now and it's mainly for people who need a big widescreen phone to watch videos because they don't have a TV. Look for prices to come down from the 8 Plus and become the iPhone 8S Plus and iPhone 9 Plus before you ever see an iPhone X Plus.
