I just wonder where Business Week got their "3 million iPhones" information? Apple would have had to really gamble and start producing the little beauty's way before the FCC granted them approval.

I would love to think there is 3 million waiting....less stress on launch week...plus I won't have to worry about camping out.

My guess? Probably just a stock booster viral comment.

Arc;)

im camping out if i need to or not. this isn't some dumb wii... it's an iphone. launches like this dont happen often.

Yeah, I don't think you'll be able to get one without arriving at least a few hours early. Not in any part of the country that's well populated anyways.

I'll be in the Bay Area or SILICON valley :D.
There are TONS of people here that want an iPhone. ATT expects a line to start at close and they've already arranged for line control workers. Apple on the other hand... is going to be INSANE!
:D

ATT PWR! (as long as its owned by ATT :p)

I'm planning on waiting at least a couple weeks to see initial user feedback. It won't be sold out... it's Apple. They sell direct.

I happen to be getting out of work at noon that day. I'll probably swing by the store to see if there is a line and to see what they have to say (are they going to close at 4:30? what kind of demand do they expect? etc.)

If there is a line, I very much doubt I'll stick around for 6 hours. I live in Florida and the afternoon heat just sucks all the energy out of you.

At 4, I'll probably drive back to the store and wait in my car if there doesn't seem to be a line, or get in line if there is one. If the line is long, I may swing by the Apple Store just for fun with no hopes of getting one.

Although maybe because of what Steve said, there may be longer lines at AT&T stores and the Apple lines may be more realistic. After all, if you read this forum, it seems like everyone is going to be going to AT&T stores instead of Apple stores.

I plan on going to the AT&T store around 5ish. If there isn't a really big line I'll grab dinner quick and be back by 5:30 and I'll stay. However, I'm not buying one yet. I just want to play with the display one and find out what all they are going to do with the plan/contract (assuming it isn't released/leaked and verified by then). That and the manager at the store said I have first dibs on the "Coming June 29th" sign hanging in the store window! :D

I'm with you. It's been consistently over 100 up here in Tally. It's a bummer that we can't get one in the morning and instead have to sit out in the afternoon heat.

I can't imagine living much further south.

I have to have one the day it comes out....

Industry leaders are predicting 45 million sold in 2009? Any opinions on this?

how can they even predict that? some much could change in 2 years, the phone will be a completely different device by then.

Anyone in Madison going?

I don't want to wait in line haha, I wish there were pre-orders.

It's not that I NEED one on June 29th, it's just that I think they may sell out quickly? And who knows how long before the next shipment.

Wii shipments were like 3 weeks apart or something weren't they?

When flash works and verizon sells plans then I will be first in line.

verizon would cripple the iPhone back to the stone age. If you want 3.5G w/ CDMA... it's either Sprinttel or nothing. Verizon is one of the most horrific cell phone carriers in the world!.

Same thing in Vegas, 110 or so this week, prolly the same next week. I hope that the line is in the shade on the east side of the building where the at&t store is.

I live in North Jersey so I have a few company owned AT&T stores by me. I'll pick one and go there around 8am to see if there is a line. I can pop over to other store is there is a very long line at the first one. It's going to be a crazy day!

I thought about ordering it online. But since its a Friday, you probably wouldn't get it until sometime in July (like the 3 or something) at earliest. NO THANKS.
AT&T store for me :)

Here what I was told by an the Apple Store manager in San Antonio:
*No Camping Out Will Be Allowed. You can wait in line starting at 7:00am
*The store will close down at 5 and reopen at 6.
*You will not be able to use personal shopping untill a week after the launch.
*The store will have all employees present, and additional Cashiers to speed customers through.
*"Your best bet is to go to a AT&T Store..."

That doesn't surprise me. The PS3 launch was a nightmare for La Cantera security. I'm sure for San Antonio the at&t stores will be better than Apple as we have so many at&t stores and they all will have iPhones. Should be interesting though, wish I was going to be here, cause I would be at Apple at 7am, if it was looking crazy, then I'd have plenty of at&t stores to pick from.

crap i was planning on getting to the store at 1:30pm to hang out and have some fun for the lunch while I waited to get the iPhone, but now I have to be somewhere until at least 5pm.
