Grinding through The Passage. Huge fan of the trilogy, so I'm pretty frustrated that it deviates so far from the novel(s). I get that it'd be hard to fully adapt, but damn. Just not satisfying. That aside, the girl playing Amy is very talented and Mark-Paul Gosselaar is also good in his role. Do yourselves a favor and just read the novels.

Just finished up "The Umbrella Academy", and it was pretty good. Enjoyed it a lot, even though they left everything open for a 2nd season. Also watched season one, episode one of "Babylon 5" on Amazon Prime. While the story and acting are OK, the visuals are out of whack. The show has not been remastered for modern TV and the FX looks horribly dated. This is a show I really wish someone would spend the money on and bring it into the digital age.

Babylon 5 just got better and better. I didn't like the first season but stuck with it. Its fantastic by the end.

I recently rewatched all of Game of Thrones in preparation for the final season. Love this show, and the attention to detail. I really hope the final season doesn't disappoint.
Then binged Bodyguard (UK). Thought it was pretty good as a mini-series.
And watched The Passage (Fox). I couldn't really get into this one, though the acting was good. Season finale felt unsatisfactory.

Other shows currently on-air I'm watching:
American Gods (Showtime)
The Magicians (SyFy)
The Orville (Fox)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (NBC)
Good Girls (NBC) - It's ridiculous, but a guilty pleasure.
Modern Family (ABC)- I'm sticking with this one, but ready for it to end. It's gone downhill.

Not watching any TV shows tonight but I keep forgetting to download still more of the M*A*S*H bundle I got from iTunes.... so I'm keeping an eye on some of those in the download queue this evening while I do a little hand sewing.

Blue Planet II Series (watched on Netfix)- You can’t watch something like this not to realize how precious the Earth is, and it makes you not want to see it trashed by human beings.

The Order (2019 Netflix)- A secret society, magic at school, I made it though 1.5 episodes before calling it quits. After Harry Potter and The Magicians, this story struck me as shallow and cliched.

Umbrella Academy (2019 Netflix)- Compared to the previous title, much more energetic and creative. About six grown up, gifted (think super hero or XMen) people who were adopted by a billionaire as infants. They reunite after their step-father’s death. I’ve finished episode 1.

Just re-upped my PBS membership at a level high enough to avail myself of their Passport option to stream their offerings. So prowling around to see what series I might like to watch episodes from on free evenings. Home Fires (women left behind in WW I in rural England) will probably make the list, although I know in advance I'll be annoyed bumping into the end of it as ITV cancelled idea of a third season and there was quite an outcry about it; author even continued the series as some novellas going forward.

Have a feeling it's all going to have to wait until after planting-out season though. Garden prep will soon make my nights all about being beckoned to bed by 10pm latest so I can get up and do battle with the jungle as soon as the dew dries off the weeds. Probably means I'll settle for the occasional viewing of one of my stashed-away M*A*S*H episodes in early evenings.

I should cancel my Netflix in spring season, really. Can't quite make myself do it.

That was a great show, even if it lasted much longer than the actual Korean War (1950-1953 while it was on air 1972-1983!) and it didn't shy away from showing the dark side and absurdity of war. Improbably it was one of my favourite war series besides Hogans Heroes and Black Sheep Squadron - the second a silly (dare I say campy :p) comedy and the last a rah rah USA war series. I will say the Japanese came off somewhat better in black Sheep than the Germans in Hogans Heroes - if the 3rd Reich were that stupid the war would have been over in 1939.

Yeah and not to get all political here but I'm sure Johnson and Nixon had aides watching M*A*S*H with a wary eye once they realized the series was really about Vietnam... imagine that, a sitcom as political wolf in sheep's clothing, initially made more "fluffy" by a canned laugh track, to which much exception was increasingly taken.

We watched it all last month. It really was an enjoyable series and I cannot wait to see what comes next.

I need to dig out the original movie which was cutting edge for its time.

M*A*S*H was an amazing film, especially for 1970, which was still a pretty buttoned down time for film in Hollywood than many of us may remember. I saw it for the first time well after the TV shows were a fixture in weekly TV fare, probably in the 80s.

At that moment I still had not connected with the fact that the theme music introducing the movie had included sung lyrics. That singing, with its seemingly placid undertone and complete lack of anxiety --juxtaposed with visuals of that surge of incoming helos full of wounded soldiers-- was absolutely stunning. Much, much more so than the instrumental version used in the TV series. But, it's no surprise at all that those lyrics met the editor's buzzsaw before that theme music ever hit the little screens of our living rooms during the Vietnam war.

If you liked M*A*S*H the movie, then you should really give the books a shot. The original MASH book was great and you can see that the movie pulled from it heavily. The rest of the MASH books concern the guys and girls after they return home and are truly some funny stuff! I wish they had based the TV series on the books and not on a continuation of the movie.

Watched Ep. 2 of "Deadly Class" from SyFy. So far, so good. I'm rather enjoying it. Also watched another episode of B-5.
