I've had several friends recommend Under the Dome, a story based on a Stephen King book. Any good?

But I've missed the beginning. My understanding is that this is a one season show? I'll have to see if it's available through on-demand from my local cable company or I'll just wait for it to appear on Netflixs. I don't really like watching shows on my computer if I can help it...

It was just renewed for a second, summer season.

Who cares about anything else on tv, Breaking bad is on in three days.

Breaking Bad all most grabbed me. I did not care for it's dark nature. :( Don't ask me why I like Dexter... :p

Is anyone aware of a show called Strike Back and watching it on Cinemax? I saw an ad for it the other night on HBO and was surprised it was on it's 3rd season and I had never heard of it.

My wife and I have watched Strike Back from the beginning and like the show. It's very action oriented and has done a good job with the characters and plot line. I would say it is fairly fast paced compared to many other shows, but it is on a cable network so they have a little more freedom.

I see it's available on On Demand. I'll have to check out the first Season 1 episode. Thanks!

I own all 15 seasons of E.R. on DVD and have watched them all. I love the show. I only have season 1 ripped to iTunes as of now and I am about halfway through it right now.

Watching the episode "Sleepless in Chicago" right now.

If you haven't seen Revenge yet, you owe yourself the favor of catching up before season 3.

Watching primarily cable based shows, I'm realizing how handcuffed the regular U.S. broadcast channels (ABC, NBC, CBS) are. I think they need to remove the handcuffs to allow them to be competitive. There is technology to shield innocent eyes.

Okay you fellow Trekkies, specifically TNG folks.

I've seen them all, a very long time ago as a young kid, but don't recall much of TNG.

I'm into season 2, episode "A Matter of Honor" where they have an officer exchange program and Commander Riker goes aboard a Klingon ship!

I admit that I've been watching TNG more as background noise while I'm doing other things. But at what point between TOS and TNG did the Federation become allies or at least non-hostile with the Klingons?

I'm only a few minutes into the episode so I don't know how it transpires yet.

I suppose I just assumed that Lt Warf had defected or something which is why he is in the Starfleet.

The 6th movie, undiscovered country, I believe, was the beginning of the peace treaty.

I believe you're right, but it was a bit further than that to when it was solidified.

Look for the TNG episode Yesterday's Enterprise. It's the telling of the loss of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701C at Narendra 3, as it was saving the Klingons from a Romulan attack. If it weren't for that battle, there wouldn't have been peace with the Klingons.

Worf didn't defect. He was rescued from Khitomar by humans, as that planet was being attacked. There's a huge backstory on that, relative to his father, his brother and wife #1.

Roddenberry did a great buildup of that back, starting with Worf's animosity against the Romulans in The Neutral Zone, which was in season 1. The story also continues through is time on ST: DS9, and culminates though that series' finale.

Just realized that I didn't post anything!

I've taken a break from TV, and mainly have been hanging out on Netflix, Amazon Video, and youtube. My wife is really liking Orange is the New Black. I'm still shocked that Kate Mulgrew is playing the cafeteria lady! For all you Star Trek fans, Yes, that same Kate Mulgrew (read: Kathryn Janeway from ST: Voyager).

I've been doing more of the kids stuff, plus regressing to my childhood. So for my children, it's been a lot of Thomas the Tank Engine, Curious George, the Muppet Show, Pingu, Dinosaur Train, and Timmy Time.

Because of that, I've been looking back at what I was watching, so out came Spiderman & His Amazing Friends (had a childhood crush on Firestar!) Knight Rider (the original), Transformers (though I nearly know every episode word for word)..

But lately, it's been an ultimate kids' cult classic: You Can't Do That on Television. Between ages 6 and 14, my world stopped at 6pm for this show on Nickelodeon. I'm glad someone had them taped and uploaded them to youtube because they'll never be put out on a box set. I may link in a clip later if people are interested.

In its place, I'll put up my favourite Muppet Show skit: Milton Berle, arguably the best insult comic EVER (tied with Don Rickles) gets heckled and OWNED by Statler and Waldorf. Enjoy!

Ahhh okay. I'll have to go back and watch that one. I haven't seen it in a very long time.

Likewise, I'll have to go back and view them as well.

Thanks guys. :)

So that episode is in season 3 of TNG and I'm halfway through season 2 right now where I was prompted to ask my silly question. Since this episode is later than the officer exchange program ("A Matter of Honor"), its difficult to discern how they came to be more friendly than in TOS.

That is of course, if its articulated in the movie The Undiscovered Country which I have on DVD/iTunes and need to rewatch again.

Then, I just realized, season 2 of TNG was in 1988, season 3 in 1989 and the movie The Undiscovered Country was in 1991 further adding sequence of events issues for my understanding.

So now I am looking for evidence of warmer relations between the Federation and the Klingon Empire prior to 1988. I didn't see any of that in TOS and don't recall anything in season 1 or the first half of season 2 of TNG.

Am I making any sense or am I way out in left field?

I found this source. As I recall somewhere in beween TOS and TNG. :)

That episode is a good one. There are so many good ones. I place TNG writing at the top of the ST universe.

I tell you whats not on TV. Futurama.

:(

I thought I recently stumbled across an episode on Comedy Central or Cartoon Network? However I did read it had been cancelled.

I just could not get into that show. I didn't find it dark really, the acting was poor and the characters not plausible.

Blasphemy, at least if you are referring to the first two seasons! :p I'm enjoying the last season, not because it's great, but because I am invested in the characters. I like them, but mostly it's because I want to see resolution. Will Dex and Hanna get to live happily every after in Argentina? Even though I'd like that, I'm thinking no, a dark ending for a dark character.
