I abandoned Sleepy Hollow too. Based on a preview, I'm hoping that Dracula lightens up after he gets his daylight cure... so far the environment has been 100% dark and dreary.

I suppose that is why the womens costumes are so bright? Yeah, it has been quite bleak and dreary.

How is Arrow? I've avoided most of the superhero shows on networks like the CW as I've found them to be lacking in the past.

I've felt like you about CW's past superhero shows - given that, I am not sure you'd be too happy with this show.

There are things I like about Arrow and a lot of things I don't.

Don't like: I loathe the CW forced soap opera business and shoe-horning so much of the DC universe into the show.

Like: it not bad as far Oliver Queen (Arrow) himself when he is Green Arrow. I like this Ollie a bit better than the Smallville one.

I'd say try a couple of episodes, but do not expect much.

Has anyone caught Almost Human? I've watched the first two episodes and it's good enough to keep going for now. It's set in the future and I'm wondering why they are driving a Robo Cop car, to economize? ;)

^^^ My wife DVR'd it so we could watch the first two episodes. I've found it entertaining and interesting enough to keep watching.

^ Love the Wire!

Saw a couple of Shameless US episodes  SO AWFUL! Pure crap - avoid at all costs I'd say. Rahter high imdb rating (8.5 compared to 7.5 for Veep) gives me the creeps!

Waiting for Mob City now.

Bummer! I really like Shameless. However, I've never seen the UK version, so, I don't have any way to compare. That being said, as a stand alone show, I find it a funny and entertaining escape from reality.

:D

I found it unbelievable bad, so bad that I physically suffered, no kidding!...the original UK version is said to be quite good though. I'll give that one a try maybe.

Well, it's not hard to believe, based on the interaction between you, Shrink, and Scepticalscribe, that your tastes are much more "refined" than mine. :D

My wife says that half of what I watch is ridiculous trash! :p

Well, not to be misunderstood: I love me some nonsense at times! Big big Zoolander fan over here, but Shameless...I dunno. Felt actually offensive in the way it depicted the topic in general and well, in detail it just seemed incredible dull, clichè'd and badly written. End of rant! ;)

My girlfriend brought that series up though. I always tell her most of what she watches is actually trash. (Although she agreed re Shameless)

I'm more the Arrested Dev. type I guess. But never mind, to each their own of course.

Caught up with the latest 3 Dracula (NBC) episodes. Not stellar, but it's getting better! :)

Renfield is tortured by Drac's competitors. One of the serious limits of broadcast TV is that although Dracula ripped someone's arm off, they glossed over his revenge on the torturer lady. A fast death would be much too easy... ;)

I've signed off from Almost Human. Uninspired writing, boring cliqued story on the episode I watched last. ehh. After Lost (brilliant), then Person of Interest and Revolution neither of which grabbed me, especially Revolution with it's uninspired acting, I can no longer trust JJAbrahms name as a source of brilliant tv entertainment. Was not wowed with Super 8 either. Now I suspect his products.

I agree with you about Revolution, but I've been watching PoI more regularly recently and find it pretty good. It lost its way for a bit, but recovered nicely IMO.

Rewatching Lost too and that is still good.

Sound of Music Live (NBC)- Not as good as the movie. Carrie Underwood- good singing, but not as good as the head nun (Climb Every Mountain), so-so acting , kids-good, nuns- good, Christopher Plummer beats Stephan Moyer by a mile. Richard Hayden (orig Max) better than Christian Borle. :)

IRewatching Lost too and that is still good.

One of those magic shows, despite the patchy ending... I remember the anticipation of "the hatch"!! :)

I really wanted to see her die. They painted her as such a nasty, awful person and as the one who was behind Renfield's agony. I wanted to see her go far more violently than her henchmen. Friday's episode was good (Van Helsing remains my favorite character), just hope the last four episodes really pick up the pace a bit. I will probably rewatch the existing six episodes in the month wait for the shows' return.

You too, huh? I have little desire to see how he will handle Star Wars.

Super 8 was a quality movie, but it had a Spielberg E.T. feel to it, (not the alien, but overall feel) not that that is bad, but it left me unsatisfied. I was hoping for a meaner monster (although it could be mean when it wanted to, thinking of the bus scene), not a persecuted alien. All those people who were eaten, in reality just got hung up in his lair... ;)

Now the Star Wars franchise, Episodes 1-3 technically were very impressive, but they had no soul. The talents of good actors and actresses were waisted and I'm having trouble forgiving Hayden Christensen for his performance as Anakin Skywalker. :p IMO there is only one way the SWs franchise can go: up. I am encouraged with what Abrams has done with the Star Trek franchise, so fingers crossed. :)

Yes. Super 8 had a gentile monster.

When it comes to vicious E.T.s, I want more John Carpenter (whom Abrams is supposively a massive fan of... none of which I've seen/detected - thankfully) or early Ridley Scott (first Alien.)

Star Wars: I am not enthused. Prequels - I loved Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan and the rest I agree with you 1000x.

I was confused by the 2009 Star Trek so I cannot comment on whether or not J.J. did right by them. He has a Spielberg-like way of doing things which does not always work for me.

Confused in what way?

I couldn't follow the whole old Spock/young Spock red matter business. It took me seeing this 2x to get that. I suppose my lack of Star Trek viewing as a child/teen did not help (the Salt vampire from the original series scared me away as a wee one.)

I am usually pretty good with time travel and I like past/future variants of the same characters in a single story, but this was very disorienting to me.

I was riveted with that episode and the M-113 creature (salt vampire) when it was first broadcast. I was 13 years old. The original Star Trek was very edgy when it first appeared.

When it comes to time travel paradoxes, it's best just to go with the flow and accept what you are seeing. :)

We know that Nero was trying to get revenge on Spock because Spock failed to stop a Super Nova before it destroyed Romulus in the future. So he goes back in time with a red matter black hole device to get revenge and ends up killing Kirk's Dad. This changes everything, but the Spock from the original time line, comes back too.

My favorite STNG time travel paradox (and coincidentally my favorite STNG episode) appears in the last episode of series, "All good thing" where Q's last challenge of the series is to test the Human Race's right to be star travelers, causing Picard to continuously shift between 3 time periods, the temporal anomaly that is started in the future, gets bigger in the past, and is started because Picard knows about it, gets help looking for it, gets the Enterprise from all 3 periods to go to the Neutral Zone and ends up causing it by conducting tacyon beam searches (as I recall). As I said, in the end you just have to accept what they are telling you. :p

You are so cruel... :D (Of course, some 5 years later, I got all into ghouls and monsters and stuff. Usually when I was scared of a monster, I wound up loving it soon after...)

Nero I understood, somehow I made a wrong turn at the Crab Nebula when it came to both Spocks.

LOL all I can say in response to Star Trek time travel paradoxes are...

MY BRAIN HURTS!!! :p

Saw an advertisement for The Americans starting in Feb 2014! :) I did not realize until recently the show was created and produced by a former CIA agent.
